Fuel mileage wins are weird. I get people giving her flack for it. But at the same time if you watched how she did it, she knew from the start of the stint she had to conserve. It's hard as a racing driver to convince yourself to get passed and stay driving slower than you know you can go. She did it and saved at the right time in the right places to where she could run faster at the end of the race than Castroneves and was able to save more than the rest of those on the same strategy. I give her credit for it. It wasn't everyone else's miscalculation giving her the win. It was her being one of the only ones willing to do what was necessary for the long haul to make it work.

Racing isn't all about being the fastest for the entire race, it's about thinking spatially and being able to comprehend and calculate the factors of the entire race with your team while you are in the car. There's nothing illegitimate about her win at all. She did what other drivers didn't think to do, and that allowed her to take the flag first. It doesn't matter how you got there, it's getting there that counts and she did.

Steve, Danica was on the Indy cars series podium 7 times, 63 top 10's, and she led 124 laps.

For some reason I misremembered how this race was won. I thought she won it on luck with rain. But this was a legit mileage race. So no hate here. She still sucks though but this win was well earned.

With the rain you may be thinking of Bubba Wallace - since his first win was largely cheered by the progressive crowd but it was basically a halted race due to rain and he was the leader at the time.

No you didn't misremember, you just never knew anything about this race other than hearsay from some of her haters who had never watched this race either. So the info that got to you was completely distorted and far from the truth.

Racing is not always about going fast. Well I mean it is but strategy comes to play also and it takes a team to win a race and not just the driver. Gotta build competitive cars and have flawless pit crews, crew chief, spotters and one mistake by anyone is the difference between winning and losing. I remember her leading the Indy 500 with two laps to go and she ran out of gas. So how ever you look at it the entire team beat everyone else's entire team to win the race. She wasn't conserving fuel at the end of the race! she was racing. Everyone else made a mistake and lost the race.

They keep talking about going to international destinations again, hopefully a return to Motegi is in the works.

Motegi would have to be a road course race. They haven't repaired the oval from the earthquake damage and only hold exhibitions on it. If we were going back to a Honda owned track in Japan, I'd just as soon go to Suzuka.

Watched a compilation of her crashes and thought she didn’t cause any of them but she gets a bad rep

And I bet if one looked at all the other drivers individually, they also probably had lots of craches over their careers.

Bs to call this just a fuel mileage win. She wasn’t the only one on this strategy, she just happened to be the one in the front.

She was way over hyped, ya she might of been ok but way over rated.
