Hi sewing friends! I have made a very practical sewing video for you and it’s all about how to sew the collar on denim jackets. I am discussing the differences and similarities between three denim jacket patterns and how these aspects will not really change the construction method. This is also a step-by-step tutorial featuring the collar of the Atenas jacket from Itch to Stitch.
Introducing my website and blog, where you will find the content of the channel organized and accompanying blog posts to the videos produced with the aim that they complement each other. Please check it out and follow me there :)

I'm currently making this jacket. So glad to see these tutorials. My biggest issue has been with the sleeves and the over long sloped shoulders. The Sleeve armhole openings at the top of the jacket are so pointy like instead of the nice curved shape. I've had to do some carving out at the top of the arm hole area and add some ease across the bicep area of the sleeve as well. Hopefully I'm done with Alterations now, lol! Thanks you!

Lovely! The way I learned it, "grading" means to trim the seam allowance at differing widths to reduce bulk in the seam (such as with a heavy fabric). So with a 1/2 seam allowance, you might trim the bottom part of the seam allowance to 3/8 and the upper part of the seam allowance to 1/4 ... "grading" the same way they grade roads (or so I assume ... never graded a road myself 😹). TFS 💚💚💚

Ok, now it looks like I'm going to have to get this pattern and make one. I really like the tip about sewing off the collar edge and then coming back across the previous seam. I'll have to remember that when making my husband's shirts. Thanks for all your great tips and keep them coming!!!

I know snipping the corner and using other tools is pretty mainstream but I think cutting there weakens the collar and id love to prevent having vulnerable areas in construction. This has worked amazingly for me :) Thank you so much for watching 😊

I think that all have their pros and cons being all excellent patterns. My standards for choosing my fave is very different as an experienced seamstress. I like that the Stacie has smaller seam allowances and the lack of detailed instructions on the pattern is not a negative for me because I know garment construction. The Atenas has a bigger seam allowance (I’d prefer a smaller one) but has cup sizes, the fit is fantastic and instructions are great. I think the Atenas will be best for many more people who are motivated and still need detailed instructions 😊

Very informative and helpful until the very end when she did not show us how she does the top-stitching! Disappointed in that. Rather incomplete. Not sure why she did this, but seems that she wants viewers to check out her other videos to "get the whole picture." Not happy with that.

I don’t understand why you refer to me as “she”, like you are addressing the comment to other people and like I’m not going to read the comment 🤷🏻‍♀️. In minute 21:30 I put on the screen that I edge stitch at 1/8” from the edge. I have shown this multiple times already and I showed the most important construction steps for this collar technique. Top stitching is a menial task here in my opinion. I put together a very complete and free tutorial that has already been helpful to many others if you take a look at the other comments.
