I loved The Temptations, loved those lead singers Paul, Eddie , Ollie and David , but Dennis was a star too. His time doing lead was fabulous . Ain’t nothing like those church bred voices, all of us who grew up singing in church, learned how to harmonize and sing Acapella , it started in church. I didn’t like how Otis did The Temptations because he made himself and Blue look good but exaggerated everybody else and made them look bad, lots of falsehoods folks didn’t like. I think he made Dennis look good because he was still alive then. That wife seemed to be a piece of work. She tried to suffocate him and took his hearing aids but she would never hurt him, sounds like she was tired of him and felt he was a burden to her, girl stop, karma will get her. Don’t look any further was my song as a little girl in the early 80’s. The shameful thing was folks didn’t know it was sampled for one of Tupac’s most famous songs… So much music of today is a product of samples, know your music history and where it originated to be called a real music fan. What a talented man, very missed and still loved, forever a fan of Dennis, Eddie, David, Ollie and Paul, RIP gentlemen!!!!

You talking about the movie when you mention Otis? That movie was based off the book based off of Otis’ story and they made Paul Al and even David look worse than they really were. They made Richard seem like he was an irrelevant part of the group and the dude they casted for him wasn’t great it sucks they did him dirty. The movie was so bad even Melvin’s mom sued Motown and the production company.
@shannondbrown1552 Жыл бұрын
@@johnomalley7211 Yes I am talking about the movie. I don’t like Otis. I really hated how he portrayed David and Paul character and death. He made Paul look like a fall over drunk and that’s why he was hospitalized. Paul had sickle cell, so do I, so I know how that kinda pain can keep you from getting out of bed or be able to walk and function. If he did drank he did to be able to alter his mind to function. David wasn’t thrown from a moving car, he died in a hospital. I don’t think anybody was surprised that he made himself look good, didn’t mention his outside babies and multiple affairs….

@@shannondbrown1552 I don’t like Otis either I think he let being the “leader” get to his head a lot of times and not to mention he’s also the one that got jealous of Al and said he had a funny nose because he looked better than him but it ain’t just Otis it’s Gordy too

Mr Bongorock Preston Epps dropped Bongorock in 1959. He started the bongo beach scene before the beach boys did. Him, Ray Charles, little Richard, Chuck Berry and other rock n rollers worked together on circuits through out . The tune Whipeout was stole from my Grandad song Bongorock. Just a little tid bit.

In my honest opinion New Edition is the closest we ever got to another band similar to the Temps. I’ve always said that Bobby was the David bad boy of the group, Johnny was the Denis the replacement who could sing better than just about anyone in the group, Mike was the Otis the brains, Ronnie was the Paul of the group because they both were really good dancer (Paul was the one who taught all the choreography for the group), I guess that left Rick as Blue… I guess they’re both Black🤷🏾♂️ lmao, and Ralph was the Eddie the smooth one of the group. And NE especially Bobby had some hits when they all went solo but they always shined the most when they were together and it was the same for The Temptations! I was born damn near 30 years after the Temps broke (up or at least the main members anyway), but man to this day I wish I could’ve seen the Temps with Eddie, David, Paul, Otis, Blue and Denis when they would all perform together.

No sir. David's voice was waaay stronger. Word was, David at concerts would back off the mike, and just blow. So well, that the people in the back could hear him. The ONLY Tempts lead next to David Ruffin was Ali Ollie Woodson. Why do you think Norman Whitfield kept making their songs with more instrumental solos. But on the David Ruffin album Norman would produce (Me and Rock and Roll is Here to Stay) didn't have long instrumental breaks? Sorry dude.

I’m going to have to disagree…. Their voices were similar is why he was hired but DENNIS did not have more SOUL THAN DAVID ‼️‼️‼️ David struggle you could hear in his voice and in his. Norman told DENNIS he had no soul when he sung‼️‼️‼️‼️ HE WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT…He told Dennis when he sings there is no connection. My GIRL will forever be a beautiful song. Davids as libs and angelic runs in that song move me every time I hear it. WITH THAT BEING SAID DAVID was definitely the better singer. There is not one song by DENNIS where I’m moved kind of how I feel about Jennifer Hudson. I love a singer who connects to the song. Dennis is not one of those. He has an awesome voice BUT RUFFIN was something else ‼️

His parents knew the temptation and the demonic darkness of secular music industry. It’s so crazy all of the tragedies that has happened to see many artists through the decades and it’s all the way back to the roaring 20’s. So many evil and greedy record label owners and producers. So many of those artists was taken advantage of and done wrong. And Dennis wife some to have been a beast. RIP Dennis
