Denver Broncos Newest Pick is Blowing People Away

Are you kidding me?!? Two days into the NFL draft and the Denver Broncos have absolutely cleaned up drafting the most accurate quarterback in NCAA history AND one of it's most prolific sackers! Sean Payton and George Paton have put on an absolute masterclass grabbing Jonah Ellis, son of former Denver Bronco Luther Ellis. Jonah is a high motor, highly athletic pass rusher who's got an elite get off with all of the physical and mental tools to be a starting edge rusher in the NFL! Jonah Ellis is quite a sneaky pick by our Broncos !!! Very athletic and able to sack the QB more than they’ll like, which is perfect for us. I am very happy with this pick. 37 Tackles and 12 Sacks. Outstanding !!!

When Penix went 8 it forced Denvers hand, they had to pull the trigger on Nix. The drop off (after Nix - Penix- McCarthy) on qb's was significant and none will be more than spot starters. Picking an edge at 76 tells me they've soured on Sanders from last year. Maybe Sanders can compete @ ILB, Jewell's spot makes sense. Bucky Irving rb would be nice and UDFA or late pics for CSU TE & Wyoming ILB could pan out (sorry I don't have names- but obvious). Thanks, appreciated.

Jonah Elliss did not participate at the combine or in Utah's pro day due to him recovering from shoulder surgery. He did however, have his own private pro day 2 weeks later for NFL scouts, which is why his scores are hard to find online. This is noteworthy because he CRUSHED the the agility drills, posting a 6.69 3-cone time & a 4.18 shuttle time. Since the NFL only allows combine numbers as "official" times, neither score qualifies for that but a 6.69 3-cone time is the fastest in NFL history for edge rushers. His 4.18 shuttle time would have been the 10th fastest at the combine, tied with Marshawn Kneeland & fellow edge Jaylen McMillian. No other edge rushers were remotely close to that time. By comparison, Troy Franklin, who is 65 pounds lighter, ran a 4.31 shuttle. Elliss clocked a 4.7 forty & a 38" vertical. The vertical would have been 3rd best in this draft, so he has the speed & explosion to play the position. The fact that he just turned 21 probably means he can add weight, so I would think he could wind up playing at 255 pounds or so.

Given the limited draft capital the Broncos have this year, I think they've done very well so far. The Broncos have a lot picks left in rounds 4-7. Though my suggestion will prove controversial, I'd love the next pick to be Mohamed Kamara from the danger close CSU! He's well known for his nastiness at the DE position, and him combined with Jonah Ellis should make life difficult for any QB the Broncos face this year, including the one in KC who's name shall not be spoken. 😁

Bo Nix might be the best QB in the draft when you look at his schedule stats. Plus, he is mature on and off the field. He aopears to be the full package. Time will tell. Elliss is a possible steal. I love his motor and combined with Browning, Cooper, and Bonnito will be a solid pass rushing addition.

I wish everyone in media and analysts would just pump the breaks. I’ve been watching the draft since 87. No one has any idea how these players will do in the NFL. There are so many variables that will affect every single rookie. We will see how these guys do in their new systems, in time. Until then, no one has won or lost the draft. Way too much speculation.
