There actually a book series about their operations so when you mentioned a temporally shield database I smiled because that's exactly how they determine if time has been altered.

I personally always thought of Daniels and the temporal agents as 31st century Section 31, since both organizations claim to be not "officially" part of Starfleet but are still obviously heavily biased in favour of the UFP.

Braxton's timeship the Aeon crashed in the sixties and kickstarted a major tech revolution on earth, which means that the Federation has always been an altered timeline, a closed loop as well. And that's why it's different to ours, with events described in TOS not happening in our world by the calender date. Janeway confirmed as much, Starling and Kronoworks completely changed earth history. So without the Federation starship Voyager causing the Federation timeship Aeon to crash in 1967, when it attempted to destroy Voyager because Voyager will be sucked into its temporal wake and carried to the 29th century, and be caught in the explosion of the Aeon. And the wreckage of Voyager wil be discovered in the aftermath of the solar system destroying calamity, prompting the Aeon to be sent to remove Voyager from time in the first place, causing the Aeon to crash in 1967, which will give earth's technology a boost, leading to the Federation and the creation of both ships and the circumstances that lead them back to the 20th century. Wibbly Wobbly Timey Whimey…

I always thought that Braxton's timeship crash caused the timeline to align more with our real life world, hence why we get a 1990s equivalent to real life, rather than a world where stuff like the Eugenics Wars happened (which I thought was the main, big difference in this new "IRL timeline", the Eugenics Wars DIDN'T happen) unlike the "normal" Trek timeline.

The Borg Cooperative is one of the signers of the Time Travel Accords. The members of the Cooperative are composed of races and persons who have chosen to become Borg voluntary. What the future Admiral Janeway did had involve the use of a virus meant to deal with the Hive-like state of the Borg Collective. The roots of the Borg Cooperative were seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager. Let's hope that the Borg cooperative play an important role in a future Star Trek series.

one of the many, many inanely complex problems with altering events in the past or deflecting the course in which they might have originally took is that you can never be sure if the given event was a fixed point along the space time continuum...tiny changes could lead to enormous fluctuations that would only be exponentially amplified the further into the future they traveled and that being more or less infinitely unless the future was somehow alerted to the threat and a temporal negation stasis protocol was activated rendering the threat nullified and the long process of repairing the damage could take place before the event even happened...

@Ozzy_2014
@Ozzy_2014 6 жыл бұрын
Actually this is dealt with in the novels and makes sense once you've read the destiny series. If the Voyager isn't home with the advanced technology the Borg will assimilate the galaxy. As seen with Armada they sent to wipe out the beta & alpha quadrants. Not assimilation but out & out extermination. There's a graphic novel of a 29th centuty ruled by the Borg sith Seven of Nine and Locutus in control of the collective and vice versa. The nightmare they seek to prevent. Temporal shields developed before the 26th century invention of time travel in massive secret exercise that used no records of any sort to hide their efforts from upstream interference. Hence why they worked in the past before the TNG era.
@kasmopaya2676
@kasmopaya2676 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly, that's also my theory, Voyager was meant to be home after 7 years. But i think the advanced technology was destroyed immediately after arrival, otherwise it would have been trouble and against some rules. (shown in Nemesis, Janeway home and no trace of the new technology on the flagship.) That's a shame, i really want to see the new armor tech on the new show with Sir Patrick Stewart on all federation ships.
@Marcus51090
@Marcus51090 6 жыл бұрын
Kasmo paya well they did utilise transphasic torpedos but because sterfleet where worried the Borg could assimilate ships with the torpedos only very few ships carried them only a handful of people in all the galaxy knew how they worked they where highly classified, and a ship would only have about 4 torpedos with insutctions to destroy them if the Borg where about to assimilate the ship after all they where the perfect Borg buster weapon The armour was assimilated by the Borg so was useless against them..... essentially what it was was massive replicator emitters on the hull that constantly re replicated new armour over the damaged section repairing it.... and that’s why it depleted because the ship literally didn’t have anymore power..... the Borg could get through shields by adapting but they couldn’t get through a physical wall per say. When the Borg tried to adapt to it they essentially used brute force of all three cubes attacking one section
@kasmopaya2676
@kasmopaya2676 6 жыл бұрын
Nice description. This way it would also make sense how i picture future battles with this armor. First the shields have to be depleted before it is allowed from the federation to deploy the armor of any ship, because it uses so much energy/resources (not unlimited to the federation). Against the Scimitar the Enterprise would have had an advantage with the armor. The transphasic torpedos would have been devastating. Only 1 torpedo and the Scimitar would be gone. I expect them to never return to star trek because they are just too strong. The "utilise transphasic torpedos" you talk about is non canon stuff, like Star Trek online?
@davidgipe997
@davidgipe997 6 жыл бұрын
Trans-phasic torpedoes were designed to be used against the Borg, would they have an appreciative affect on non-borg ships? It may not be "power" in itself that makes it so effective against the Borg and like ships.

Rick, considering I am a historian, I would first learn the local language & intergrate myself into the locals as best that I could & then using my knowledge of technology (gunpowder, iron, steel, etc) make myself a king & found a long-lasting empire basicly so I could be comfortable as I am from the 21st century & in this time we don't have time machines & I would basicly be stuck back there & this would be the only way I could have a remote chance of getting home... And, if time travel is never possible, then at least I am the biggest, meanest dog in that time...

So if 31st Century Starfleet/ST Universe timeline agencies exist, that means that all ST canon material is all set in the "past". You can't travel to the future if it didn't exist. If no one accepts this, then time (Prophets DS9) is not linear, there is no such thing as past/present/future. Interest concepts to be further explored in Star Trek

So question about time protecting and starfleet❓why was there not a temporal center/base at the guardian of forever, there all time changes could be protected and detected, and would be a time protected base from which to work from. Sometime after 2267 starfleet could have made a base of operations there. So many of these time changes that caused major damage such as the Gabriel bell incident, or captain archer being taken to the future and the future being destroyed because of it, a team based at the guardian of forever would had been in the best position to attempt to repair the timeline. Why is that never appeared to happen ❓
@Dracotonis

I always imagined Temporal Investigations as a group that existed across the past, present and future of the federation. Aside from the investigation of timeline or temporal changes in their present, their primary function would be as a point of contact for other Temporal Investigation groups in the past or future. If say someone had to travel back from the 29th century to the 24th and needed assistance from someone in that timeline(depending on the location of course), who better to contact than members of Temporal Investigations in that period who are already fully versed in time travel. Or say if they travelled back the first thing they would do is simply check in with Temporal Investigations explaining they have travelled back and for what purpose to spare that version of Temporal Investigations having to investigate.
@scottmantooth8785

I think a temporal agent looking through time could make a judgement on whether someone went back in time. The most common being sudden tech changes like if your timeline all of a sudden had beam weapons even though the history would feel to you to be normal it might be possible to understand that a development is unlogical and so you'd go and investigate.

If Star Trek had just used the Many Worlds version of time travel from the very beginning, so that any travel into the past simply spawns an alternate timeline, then there would be no need for anything like the Department of Temporal Investigations. Plus, it just makes more sense and is probably how time travel would work IRL, if it's even possible, because it's a natural defense against Temporal Paradoxes.

The CIA is a massive threat. It does nothing that goes against the High Council, and Gallifrey itself. It is the Tal Shiar, Obsidian Order and Section 31 for time travel on steroids. They would automatically generate a third faction in the Battle Of Procyon V against the other two sides, and be a total threat to both of them, and would eliminate them in a black ops mission. If anything, the Doctor inspires those organisations, most definitely, but Daniels from the 26th Century deemed him a threat, to the point his organisation impounded his TARDIS. Entirely due to the fact the Time Lords and Daleks would turn Daniels entire timeline into a battle ground in their Time War, and there would be nothing he, or any temporal faction, even working together, could do to stop it. @@craigevans4694

I would imagine that they set up a serious security zone around the planet, and made sure that only those with positive pro-Federation intent ever knew it was there. After all, if you can just step through and be where/when you want to be...you'd be pro-yourself. It's a thought, though; the one Guardian is entirely Earth-history based. Are there OTHER GUARDIANS, connected to other planet's histories? Is there a mass-mind of Guardians, temporally connected in the fourth dimension, and above and beyond even Section 31 and investigators like Dulmer and Lucsly? There's an idea...

Their agents would be aware of any changes if they were in a Time ship that had temporal shielding like in that episode of Voyager year of hell and later in that series Voyager they even have the timeship relativity that has again temporal shielding

Actually there is a way the Temporial Investigations outfit can record issues of time disruptions. They would need a time bubble something that exist outside outside of time. I suppose it would be a subspacetime bubble.

Wait if admiral janeways actions to change her own timeline were truly interference then why didn't the time assholes stop her or correct things? Or maybe that explains why janeway is an rear admiral by the time of nemius dispute being a colossal failure and having one of the highest crew body counts and prime directive violations under her belt. The time agents just stuck her bend a desk so her melding didn't go anywhere

@@besaidknight actually Zentradi were not genetically programmed to not innovate (that would be cruel on the part of the Protoculture) its more of they were mentally conditioned to just be warriors. But they don't care about the creation of splinter timelines - I find that odd. Then again Trek has the worst continuity of any franchise ever.

I think you'd be surprised by how bad other continuities can actually be... DC (especially) and Marvel comics, come to mind, right off the bat.
@gallendugall8913
@gallendugall8913 6 жыл бұрын
Comic books will reinvent their continuities. For example Captain America being frozen in ice since the end of WWII in spite of having had a continuous comic run of his post war adventures. Someone wanted to do a man out of time story so the continuity ran with it. History changed. Trek has a much darker problem. Writers deciding on their own to "fix" something about the franchise they don't like and replacing it with something even less well thought out, broken and stupid. That started back in The Original Series and has only gotten worse over time. The result is that the franchise is in disagreement over every aspect of itself from the smallest "does paper exist?" to the largest "what is the Prime Directive?" to the most mundane "What is the symbol for Starfleet?" or the who characters are "Is Picard a dune buggy fanatic who doesn't care about archaeology? Where the heck is Worf stationed? Does Data have the emotion chip installed?"

In Germany, Gary was called Seven, Sevenrock. So the translation into German of the original series was terribly bad and continued in TNG where Crusher asks the computer, what kind of crap do I see? Mist was translated into German as mist, not fog

The most overpowered but the least liked part of the Federation (well 2nd least like to you know who) as someone who plays as a Temporal Agent, I can understand why. Most of the logs are just downright depressing. If a Romulan were to do this, it will be watching your homeland get blown... TWICE. Just to add insult to injury. Or rubbing salt in their wound If your crew has a past trauma related to the mission you're doing 70% will hate you for it and 30% will dislike
