Yes! I was thinking the very same! Sadly, the RNRHOF has been far too late with getting many deserving bands inducted in. There's still many great bands from the 60's and 70's to still get inducted and many of the members have passed on. Depeche Mode is one of my favorites bands and a very unique band. Well deserved Depeche mode! R.I.P. Andy Fletcher!

huge respect to dave for that, although i will acknowledge that he's always been hugely complimentary of him, and out of all members alan was probably closest to him - probably the only member alan would consider a friend. martin's always been a bit uncomfortable talking about the circumstances of his departure (although ultimately recognises how important he was), and andy... well, he's always come off as a petty and resentful dick about it and likes to make it seem that alan was just bitter that he wasn't getting paid more than him

Dear Depeche Mode, I traveled far to see my first live DM concert, it was during your World Violation Tour 1990. I was 17 years old, I had no ticket in my hands, couldn’t buy ahead of time, same for a ticket in front of the arena, as nobody wanted to sell (also no internet back then). I was desperate, sad to travel thousands kilometres, being so close and not being able to get that golden piece of paper. However, out of nowhere, some guy approached me and asked if I wanted to distribute DM merchandise leaflets inside of the arena up to the very start of concert after which he would give me a special pass for a concert. I did my part and merch guy gave me a special yellow rounded sticker tag, with which I was able to get almost anywhere in the arena and enjoy your concert. What a turn of events. Dear DM, congratulations and simply Thank you, thank you for your music. Love

Well deserved gentlemen! Your music has touched millions of us and in every corner of this planet, there is someone who is a total DM devotee. Why is that? Because your music is so unique and the lyrics of your songs are so powerful. Through every decade since the 80's, you have taken us on a journey of emotions. You have been the soundtrack of our lives. I can probably speak for everyone who is your fan that the moment we hear one of your songs, we are taken in, everything around us stops and we are one with the song. Through time, you have evolved into a better version of yourselves. David's voice is more resonant, Martin's lyrics continue to move the soul and Fletch is the backbone that keeps things in balance. You have maintained your musical integrity and you have delivered in every of one of your albums. You had me at "Speak & Spell" all the way to "Spirit". For as long as you tour, I will be there, singing every lyric to every song. Congratulations !!!

@rbrtck
@rbrtck 3 жыл бұрын
Vince had already said that he wouldn't take the stage with the band (had everything been normal), even though he was inducted with them and presumably had every right to. He said that he was only with them for a short time, meaning that he is being given too much credit. Of course he's right in a way, but I think considering all points and the big picture, DM would never have existed or gotten anywhere without him. Ideally, in my mind, Vince would have performed one of the songs he wrote with the band, but that was never going to happen anyway since it would be too embarrassing for him, I think, since he had left the band before long. As for Alan, he probably didn't show for similar reasons. Although obviously he was with DM for their most important albums and years, they are still a going concern, and have been together a lot longer without him than with him. But still, I personally think that ideally all five of them would have been on stage, or given COVID-19, part of this Zoom call. Then again, if I were Vince or Alan, I might not feel right about it, myself. I'm glad they both got a shout-out and thank you from the band, at least.

I had to buy all the albums to get me up to speed. Went to every local concert then. I even went solo when you were touring solo. Congrats to a band that has been a significant part of my musical life since the 1980s, blending darkly romantic lyrics and electronic soundscapes that very few other bands of their genre could match. I love seeing the camaraderie among this trio. If they have another album in them, would love to see Alan Wilder come back in some capacity (either full member or producer), but perhaps that ship has long sailed. Anyhow, kudos to one of the greats.

I'm 38 years old. My older sister (10 years older than me) is my influence for my love of music.....especially Depeche Mode. She was the first one to take me to one of their shows. I was 16. I held my chest and cried during their WHOLE epic performance 🤣🤣🤣 10 years down the road....I see them again. Reacted the same way! Cried like a baby. My love for Depeche Mode goes way above and beyond my love for music. You guys are the best and will always be a huge part of me. I'm an addict (clean for 10 years). I'm also bipolar 1 and I tend to get in deep deep depression. You guys always pull me out of that. You deserve this more than anyone out there. Depeche Mode are my personal heroes. Been a fan since “Everything Counts” and they kept me going through high school. I stood in line in LA on March 13, 1990 to meet them for the release of “Violators” only to have it ruined by a insane lawless crowd. However, I loved their World Violator Tour later that summer. I’ve seen these guys 6 times and they never fail to impress. Dob’t stop the music lads. It would’ve nice to see Vince and Alan there too. At least Dave recognized their contributions to their achievements! Brilliant!
