The hard part about depression is actually finding the energy and motivation to do something about your depression. That's why a lot of people feel stuck. But don't give up. You can overcome this. Take it day by day one step at a time.

I am having many symptoms of depression. Lack of motivation, anxiety, etc. I told my mom about these things and she was the one telling me: I think you have depression. And now I can see that it’s true. Build up your courage and tell your mom. She will only want to help you on this. Is so important to have support. I had depression for 1 year some years ago and didn’t tell anyone because I was ashamed. It was the hardest time ever. Please don’t do this on your own. It is not your fault at all. Things will get better, see this as something that is temporary and not who you are. It’s important not to feel alone at this time. Your mom will support you, have the conversation. 🙏🏼

This video helps n means alot. I was diagnosed with depression about 2 years ago and I have anxiety. Everyday is a struggle. I was sexual abused for about 7 years of my childhood n at 15 i was raped by someone I thought I could trust. My step dad was a huge part of the downwards spiral as well when I finally spoke up he told me I belonged in a mental asylum n I was crazy etc. I lost about 30 pounds in a 5 month period just from not eating it was so hard to just get up sometimes. I feel like it's been one event after the other my whole life I've never really gotten a break or the help I've needed until just recently. I struggled with suicidal thoughts for years of my life, but glad to say I'll be turning 18 in a few months. Very proud of myself. Depression takes a big ass chunk out of your life from how you think to how you speak to your actions and how you handle things. Don't let it spiral out of control. You will get better no matter what it is you aren't helpless you are your biggest help and the only person that stopping yourself just know you will get better just smile and keep moving forward💜❤️🌺🌺I don't speak about this often so if you made it this far I appreciate you listening have an amazing day

I'm a licensed dietitian and exercise physiologist and do nutrition and exercise counseling billed to health insurance as medical nutrition therapy. I hear nutrition as a mental health thing, but my personal opinion is that a lot of it is association and not causation. I have a near perfect diet myself and still have depression. I'm sure it would be worse without, but I think it is important to be careful about recommendations for vitamins and omegas and gut flora associations with mood. Exercise is awesome for acute mood elevation and I had a whole class on exercise and mental health in my master's, but if you're sad about something and have been exercising your whole life, sometimes exercise doesn't even help. Also, if you aren't seeing any physique changes or aren't getting better at exercise, it also isn't as mood elevating. Some people compare themselves when exercising. I agree lots of these are good ideas and don't disagree, but I don't agree either. There is a video on KZbin of Daniel mackler curing his inflammatory bowel disease by quitting being a therapist and another video of a 20 something curing his inflammatory bowel with diet and exercise. Lots of things are influenced by diet and exercise tangentially for certain personality types, and something are directly influenced by diet or exercise. For example, it was said that exercise helps lose weight on this video. That's not true according to the research with clinical interventions. Exercise doesn't have much of an effect on weight loss. Eating fewer calories does. If you engage in an exercise program and tangentially stop eating as many calories because the behavior makes you make better food choices, you'll lose. But many exercise and eat more or at least the same. Some will lose because exercise displaces time from the day you were eating. Anyhow, it can be slightly frustrating from my perspective of people being told things about diet and exercise that aren't true that are associative with people who exercise but not causal or curative. Depression is one of these things. And again, how can one go wrong with recommending better Nutrition and exercise, but then that's a very complicated subject of what does good Nutrition mean to that person vs what is it actually. More frustratingly, many licensed Dietitians are not exercise physiologist and don't know about how ineffective exercise is for weight loss. That's something I picked up from the other discipline.

Exercise? What? I can’t even get out of bed. And I’m not just sad. I hate everyone and everything. And therapy? Talking to someone weekly? Lol! Who can afford that? I’d be bankrupt in a month if I had to spend money to pay someone to listen to me. Just give me drugs that either make me happy, or I’ll even settle for drugs that make me feel NOTHING! I’m tired of feeling.

@heartticker5062
@heartticker5062 4 жыл бұрын
I've had a childhood trauma, and yes, during the time I had the trauma was when I got very mild symptoms of depression. I was a very happy, social, extremely smart and a very creative and empathetic child. Of course I didn't realize it back then, and I always thought I was a mentally healthy person, but in about two years, I had a breakdown and that's when I felt that nerve inflate inside my head. I passed out for 6 hours, it was like I had an epilepsy episode. I got in the hospital for two weeks, and after I woke up, I felt stronger symptoms. Again, I didn't know I had depression back then, I thought that my symptoms after about 2 years were about that emotional breakdown But almost every person my age WANTS to have depression for some reason, and I dont get why, it doesnt feel good, it's like you have no emotions anymore, it's like your brain has shut you down completely. My friends once were joking about having depression, and they were also joking about people who are faking depression to get attention. I didn't know I had depression back then, because the symptoms weren't that serious, I wasn't feeling hopeless or pessimistic, in fact I seemed like the total opposite of someone having depression. I had suicidal thoughts from time to time, but thanks to my self control I just pushed them away to focus on something else. It was like I had mild symptoms of depression back then, my emotions were a little off. I had realized it about my emotions and me being tougher but it didnt both me that much. That time, when my friends were joking, I thought to myself "What if I have depression??" And then I told myself "Nah, there's no way, I've healed from my trauma" And indeed, I really thought that I had healed from my childhood trauma, but always something seemed off. I had trouble focusing on my surroundings and usually I didn't observe at all. Before my trauma happened, I was always a VERY good observer. I was one of the smartest and most social kids, but for some reason I developed social anxiety, and sometimes I didn't feel the emotions as strongly as when I was younger Although recently the signs got WAY worse, so when we went for therapy, I got diagnosed with depression. I always feared of getting it, and I really dont want it affecting my life. Recently, one of my friend's pet died, I had spent so much time with their pet, and when I learned the news about their dog dying, I felt NOTHING. Literally, I felt NOTHING AT ALL, I didnt feel sadness, or anger about their dog dying, I literally felt nothing. I didn't like it at all, because that's when I realized this wasnt myself, it's like my soul is gone somewhere else and my body is on autopilot. Usually, my emotions would be so strong and I would have so much empathy that I would have visited my friend for her pet dying. Ive had so much empathy when younger but when I realized it myself that I felt nothing when their dog died, it was like my pet too, and I didnt feel ANY emotion of sadness, I wanted immediately to do something about it, because I didnt like it at all, that's when my depression really bothered me. With depression I can't get productive anymore, with school now I have trouble with classes and my grades are affected so much by it. Before I had my trauma, I was extremely hard working and creative, I was the completely opposite from what you would see today. I hadnt realized it myself I was suffering from depression, but when the symptoms got stronger, I definitely suspected it and went to therapy. It can really ruin somebody's life, drastically.

@@heartticker5062 wow I hope you get better sad thing is that after developing mental illnesses we are never the same which sucks because I also used to be very social and got good grades when I was 8 but once I turned 9 I developed severe social anxiety which has pretty much ruined my fun at life but now it’s getting so hard and I feel hopeless maybe I’m getting depressed. Also social anxiety is the worst because no one seems to understand it people think it’s just a fear of being judged but it’s more like I get a feeling in my body that isn’t just fear of being judged it’s like it controls me and I’m no longer my self in public because of how warped my mind gets and thoughts start rushing in my head which makes it hard to work.

I have depression but I'm not officially diagnosed with it. I've taken so many dass test and it shows that my depression is quite severe. But when I told me mom I want to take the test at clinic, she didn't want to bring me and just think I'm absurd to think I have depression at 16. Now it's been a week and I can sense it's getting worse. I don't know what to do bcuz no one believe me and just think I'm making up stories. It' really hard for me to get through this with no help. I haven't do my homeworks for weeks now. I have so many sleepless night but I didn't show it to my family. That's why they didn't believe it. I really want to go to doctor but it's hard when your family didn't believe you. I often cry bcuz I don't know when will this thing will be solved if my family didn't believe me.

No one found this in their recommended so here’s your reasons on why you should keep going through life like it’s the best life ever 1. Watching raindrops race down a window 2. Waking up on a holiday as a kid and feeling that excited bubbly-ness in your stomach 3. Reading old journals from when you were younger 4. Your favorite TV show 5. That one ship that you were rooting for that finally was made cannon 6. Opening the window to a cool breeze while listening to your favorite song 7. The smell of walking into your favorite restaurant from when you were younger 8. Rereading that one book you’ve probably read 5000 times 9. When you say “just one more..” but keep going 10. When you walk out of your room and smell your favorite food 11. In kindergarten where you could walk up to anyone and instantly become best friend until 5th grade or even longer 12. The one day where you got the best news ever 13. Walking outside in your favorite season and just smelling the air. (For some reason I always find that winter has a certain smell) 14. When it’s the perfect temperature to wear a hoodie outside without being too hot or too cold 15. When you look outside at night to see what your one neighbor is doing this time 16. When you step on a leaf and it crunches perfectly 17. The people that love you 18. The people you met online who you aren’t entirely sure if they are who they say they are but you are chill with anyway 19. When you flop into bed and there’s no creaking noise 20. When you are able to sleep right when you go to bed 21. When you wake up to your phone unplugged but it’s fully charged 22. When you are playing jenga and you think you’re going to lose but the piece you pick is super loose 23. When you used to be the kid that always smiled 24. Me, I may not know you, but your life means more to me than anything I’ve ever done. Seriously, you can do this. I believe in you. You can get past this rough patch and see the goodness in life again. Just like kindergarten.

Once you get a diagnosis like that society puts so many labels and restrictions on you (registering for a firearm or other things). Maybe the root of your problem cannot be solved by natural means. When you were young and innocent, you might have enjoyed life. Now, you are probably stressed out and confused. I propose you have to regain your innocence. This involves abandoning all you have learned in life so far (you cannot fill a cup that is full)and seeking a new spiritual path which clears away the wreckage of your past and leads to a recovery of the joy and peace you once had. spirit-retreat-thailand(.com)

I have struggled with depression on-and-off for decades, but have made incremental improvements by doing most of the steps Ms. McAdams suggests here. The improvements have allowed me to stay positive and continue trying. It's frustrating to know that nearly all health and mental struggles can be resolved, but that it takes so much time, money and energy to make serious improvements. In my dreams, all people who are struggling with depression and health issues are given the resources they need to get well. Silly dream, I know, but those who suffer for so long simply do not deserve it. The good news is that we have incredible people such as Ms. McAdam who are providing free advice that can make a difference. Best wishes to you and your husband. 🙏🙏

Thanks to technology, developments are happening at a very rapid pace and my hope (and hunch) is that some of these will be found to be exceptionally effective. So, I continue to persevere, doing as many things as possible to make improvements while granting myself grace when it comes to my inability to do everything I believe would help. @jlvandat69 2 жыл бұрын
@@georginarandolphgirl66 Interesting. I am just now learning about the value of psilocybin in treating conditions such as depression and anxiety. It sure looks promising. I saw a documentary awhile back (I think it was on KZbin) about some amazing experiments done way back in the early '60's with people suffering from extreme mental disorders such as Schizophrenia and chronic depression. These people were literally disabled by their condition, unable to be employed or maintain relationships. The tests were set up under the guidance of psychiatrists/experts to determine if LSD could be used as a treatment. The patients were counselled for a period before administering the doses, counselled while under the influence and then counselled for at least several weeks after. The talk therapy while the patient was "high" was tailored carefully to the specific conditions/personality of the patient. It was quite involved, but the goal was to "introduce a new reality" to the patient during the time their brain was highly receptive (defenses down due to the drug). The results were beyond belief in most cases. Follow-up studies showed most of the patients responded exceptionally well and went on to have a completely new life, with solid careers and healthy relationships. I was stunned that these experiments were never widely known. The bottom line is that it seems some of us need a more radical intervention to "rewire our reality", i.e., form altogether new perceptions of self and life. Perhaps these newer alternatives such as psilocybin can help? I know this much..... depression and similar conditions are often extremely difficult and current science/therapies have had limited benefits and rarely provide sustained relief from the symptoms. But as i said B4, it seems we're getting closer to real solutions.

You're probably one of those people wishing happiness and health because you're a broken person that doesn't want a single person to feel the same way as you did or do, and I really felt that :c, but I want you to remember you ARE ENOUGH AND SO STRONG AND IM SO PROUD OF YOU JUST BY BEING HERE TODAY! You deserve to be happy :3. Jesus Christ blesses you and you all! He really loves you he is not mad at you for you sinners and he already died for even the worts and most bizarre sinners you can ever imagine or did and still, he forgives you and he really wants to be your best friend, your savior, but he is respectful, so he waits for you to accept him in your heart, in your life.

Wow! I’ve asked my doctor twice now if I can get tested for vitamin deficiencies and his words seriously were, “that vitamin D deficiency is just a trend“. Since my doctor doesn’t do it where else can I go to get tested for vitamin deficiency?

@@albundy3929 thanks. I actually since this last comment I made. I found a new doctor she took the vitamin D deficiency test and I was very low at 25 and I was even supplementing so now she has me taking 10,000 international units a day and I recently tested and my levels have gone up to 92!

Nobody mentiones that depression can also be a result of decreased dopamine level, not only seretonine! In this case, Prosac does not help. Ritaline does.

i’ve tried to get help from my parents, siblings, i’ve reached out through my job, through my friends, everything. everyone has denied me help and i don’t know what to do. i’ve tried everything. i’m stuck and i’m scared reaching out to a doctor will get me put into a Phyc ward, all of which in my area are known to be more detrimental than helpful. idk what to do. i’m scared and frustrated all at once.

Thank you for this great video. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. I went through a severe case of akathisia, then plummeted downward into ahheedonia. I've gotten back into physical shape again, but struggle with energy, sadness, irritability, and zero motivation. I'm feel drained. The things I use to love doing are no longer enjoyable. I feel like I'm hungover most of the time, and yet I do not drink. I'm currently on medication. Trintellix. It worked good at the beginning, but doesn't do much now. Anyway. Looking for help. Thank you!!

Dear Emma, By referencing on Harlow, it is possible to perceive humans need positive affection. 01)So, if someone is born in a circumstance permeated with positive affection, the result is of healthy life structure. 02) If someone is born in a circumstance almost permeated with positive affection, the results might be mixed. 03) But, if the circumstance of birth sees lack of positive affection, then the result is troublesome. Question: if someone is born in circumstance two (2) and still gets by, but that circumstance becomes three (3), thus resulting in extrinsic depression, what can be done? Thanks in advance.

Im terrified to ask my parents for a therapist. They already said i could if i really wanted to but its hard for me to ask questions in general because of abuse by my biological mom. I haven't been diagnosed but my dad and mom have both gone through it. Ive had suicidal thoughts for years along with sleep loss and and health issues and lots of mood swings. It's been really bad recently after something bad happened and I've had headaches all week, I've been having lots of mood swings and i even starting feeling globus which is new. What should i do? Push through it until im stable enough to pay for it on my own or talk to them about it? And yea i have an iron deficiency but the depressive stuff didn't start until after i got separated from my biological mother. After i realized all the messed up things she did and i felt like it was my fault and now i am permanently messed up by someone that should love me and it's just been a 6 year long terrible spiral that wont leave me and i want to do something about it but it is very hard just to get up any more.

Same here. They say just go see a doctor($80), then find a therapist($100-150 per hour). Many people don't have insurance that will cover treatment for depression so I guess they are shit out of luck🙄
