For me the best song I know from Orelsan is "Suicide social" ("Social suicide"). There is so much truth and everyone is shoot by his lyrics. There is so much hate but strangely I feel relieved after hear it.

The beat is from his friend Skread, reknow rap composer and productor in France, whose work take a large importance in Orel's succes (they've been working together since 20 years)

Orelsan is one of the best writer I know. In fact, when Stromae was Depressed, Orelsan helps him a lot. I think "La pluie" with Stromae or maybe "Paradis" are two songs you could react to. Nice to see you everytime. =) I really enjoy your video

Hi Derek ! Orelsan release his last album few weeks ago which became the best selling disk for 2021 in France. His video clip "l'odeur de l'essence" (it means "the smell of gasoline") annunce his new album, and it was one of the best video clip we ever seen in french music. Someone mentioned Jacques Brel in the comments below. I don't think it's too farfetched to compare Orelsan to Brel: both are exceptional wordsmiths. Orelsan is outstanding. When I listen to him, I see everything as if I was in a movie theatre. It all unfolds, image after image, as if I had plugged a DVD directly into my skull. All the words are the "right words", not one is out of place. The only thing that saddens me, is that I may well have discovered Orelsan towards the end. He'll, listen to everything.

Great artist you stumbled upon here, I don't like french rap these days but he's one of the few exceptions. I recommend giving a shot to "Paradis", "San" (especially his live performance at Victoires de la Musique 2018), "Rêves bizarres" with Damso, and of course "La Pluie" with Stromae.

I am not fan of the French rap. I think the French rap IS a Bad remake of the American rap. Except Orelsan and MC Solar because of there IS a Real work around the words, the lyrics. Basique IS a good example of this work. Thank you dereck for this choice. Enjoy 💙👍
