I've watched a lot of youtube dermatologists advice regarding melasma/hyperpigmentation, they are full of confusing product contents and shameless endorsements of their brands! I found yours to be more straightforward and to the point. Thank you! Can you maybe do a video of the what not to use in combination?

Great video. Thank you! I haven't found tranexamic acid or vitamin C to lessen my melasma. I have found the Paula's Choice AHA/BHA peel used for 10 minutes once a week to be very helpful. I use EltaMD UV Clear sunscreen and it has improved my skin.I use tretinoin acid and niacinamide nightly.

Hi doctor... I have a melasma on my face ... I consulted with dermatologist and she recommended me hydroquinone 4percentage ... After three months of using there is little changes but after I stop using ,the melasma comes back more darker and wider... Why is this so and I always stay indoor and I apply sunscreen SPF 50 even though melasma is there

Mostly is the irritation. Unless it’s formulated in one product I personally recommend not using vit c with hydroxyacids together. And avoid apply retinoid and hydroxyacid together

What worked for me was to bomb it with active non stop to exterminate it. Sunscreen every single day and reapply it every 2 hours if I'm outside, azelaic acid, retinoids, glycolic acid, laser treatments, vitamin C PLUS a hat during the summer. I made my sun hats part of my outfits so I don't look like a weirdo. Thank God my skin can take many actives and I can mix and match them without irritation. This summer my skin looks amazing and I do go out and enjoy myself.

Obagi has a 7% arbutin product that is effective but I hate using it… feels so occlusive and pore clogging. Do you know of any other products like that? 2% is just not effective, I’ve tried! I hear others say glycolic acid isn’t good for melasma… can you set the record straight on that? Don’t peels cause inflammation, causing melasma to get worse, or is that just at home peels? Thank you!
@dr.jennyliu2 жыл бұрын
Yep it’s a balance. Any peels regardless of ingredient if too strong (you kind have to earn your peel) can worsen hyperpigmentations! So it’s really important to either test before use if you’re sensitive or start of slowly and gradually increase frequency or strength

Unfortunately not. Tinted sunscreens offer iron oxides and they are not the same as a tinted foundation unless they have specific iron oxide elements integrated into them.
