I love seeing how real people do makeup (rather than beauty influencers) so I loved this. We have very similar facial features and use many of the same products. I have that hour glass palette but rarely use it because I feel like the shimmer looks like “makeup” on my skin. I’m going to give it another try tonight. You would love Thrive’s eyeliner in Chocolate Shimmer. It’s such a pretty color. Also, I assumed your cheeks were filler!

Thank you 😊 I find that the shimmer in the palette is only noticeable from very close up, but at conversational distance you can’t see it anymore and it just helps light reflect nicely off of the skin. And I think my cheeks are the last place I will ever need filler 😅

So beautiful! I like how light it looks. I usually just apply tinted sunscreen or BB cream on top of non tinted sunscreen. When I do wear makeup it’s very minimal.

Very helpful to hear how you think about placing color. I’m an artist, so using light and dark colors to push and pull features seems spot on. I have a live hate relationship with blush depending on rosacea flaring. The best thing for me has been omnilux led light mask for calming down redmess

I have that mask! I just need to get more consistent about using it so I can give it a fair trial on my skin

As someone who also works with a lot of redness on the cheeks, I avoid many blushes. The bareMinerals Blonzer is the perfect mix though - it has enough of the brown warm glow with just a hint of color. My favorite color is the Kiss of Copper. These were a limited launch though so they’re difficult to find now.

Thank you so much for sharing your makeup routine. I have deep set eyes exactly like you and with my rosacea and shadows I too do not wear eye makeup. I use NARS in Madeline (my skin color) on my eyelids and Armani luminous silk under eye concealer shade #5. This doesn’t need to be set and doesn’t show lines (I am 50) It’s great and isn’t drying . I use Supergoop unseen sunscreen and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Light and great combo for my fair with freckles sensitive skin daily. Thank you again for all your valuable advice and info. Best wishes and warm healthy thoughts for you and baby. From our healthcare provider family in Canada to yours 🇨🇦❤️

I love and use Mac F&B and the hourglass ambient palette as well! I think since you like a quick, clean look you'll like Benefit Gimme Brow. It's a tinted brow gel so the application is quick. I think Essence makes a dupe but I will say the brush is harder so it's not as pleasant.

I love Nars concealer and have been using it for sometime now, and like you I prefer a brownish eyeliner. Have a look at Victoria Beckhams eyeliner gels, they are really good, glide on so easily and last all day, I use her Cocoa, Bronze and just purchased the Burgundy. Will look at UD though.

You look gorgeous, Dr. Sam. I love how natural your makeup look is. I too prefer a brown eyeliner, and the UD Whiskey is one of my favorites. I also like the Charlotte Tilbury eyeliners. Always browns or plums. I find at my age, black is too harsh. I'm currently liking the DRMTLGY Tinted Mineral Sunscreen. I trade that off and on with the Elta MD Tinted Mineral Sunscreen. Both are excellent. Hope you are feeling well. Thanks for showing your makeup routine. ❤

Thanks Dr. Ellis. I never wear blush. Doesn't matter what foundation, what coverage, blush just pulls the broken capillaries on my face right through that coverage. And I'm talking a dusting, not a rubbing of blush. I'm Fitzpatrick 1 with rosacea. Most of the time I just walk around with red blotches and streaks on my face. Nobody looks at me anyway. I'm 57 and have mercifully become invisible. I play with foundations and things later, after dark, since that red/white skin is also extremely dry. Even after a few hours, I'm applying something like Avene Cicalfate around my mouth and lower face on top of foundation. I would never put a full face on in the morning. It would be flaking away like so much snow by 11 a.m.

Word of caution: she's using the old formula. This year it was relaunched and, in spite of what MAC says, it's definitely more glowy and sheer. Great for winter, but I decided it'd be too greasy looking during warmer months.

Beautiful natural make up. I have rosacea and I am quite happy with the BB cream from Bioderma Sensibio AR, the downsize is of course the colour range... I do use a blush in a peach tone and it works for me better than a bronzer which somehow does not suit me. I would be very interested in your opinion about shelf life, actually pao, of make up products. I always see different opinions and some biochemists say that the real pao is actually shorter than the pao on the packaging depending on how we use the products and the packaging itself (applicators directly applied on the skin, etc) I am using mascara for 3 months, cream products 6 months and powders 12 months. I have seen dermatologists (who often advocate for very short shelf lifes to be on the safe side :)) saying that powder eyeshadows should not be used for longer than 6 months because they are used to close to the eyes and most people double dip in with the brushes..... so that would be great if you could share your knowledge on this :D Thank you!

I'm very fair and finally found a bronzer product that is light enough to work in a very natural way. Missha Cotton Contour in Smoked Hazel that is great, also good as an eye shadow, very muted. Do you find that you can use either the Urban Decay or the Mac Kohl eyeliners as tightliners that last a while and apply to the inner lid smoothly? Is there one you'd recommend?

Love your videos! You mentioned just rinsing your face with water before putting on vitamin C. Does that make it less efficacious than if you had washed your face? I put on various products at night (including moisturizers and occlusives) and thought those might obstruct the absorption of vitamin C in the morning if I don’t wash my face…
@karrrot
@karrrot 3 жыл бұрын
overnight is plenty of time for your skincare products to fully sink in, so there is no need to wash them off. many derms recommend only rinsing in the AM if you do not have oily skin in the morning, so I think it should be ok 👍
@kimseverson2033
@kimseverson2033 3 жыл бұрын
I thought you had to wash your face in the morning as well to get it to the right pH balance before applying vitamin C. The budget dermatologist on KZbin recommends cleansing with L’Oreal 3.5% pure glycolic acid cleansing gel prior to applying vitamin C.

Hej Doc, a hils (salute) from Denmark, I was wondering as you used the Butter Bronzer from PFormula....I have bought 2 different shades even and even though they are beautiful and feel so smooth to the touch, there is something in the components that brake me out and that is very rare, I have tons of makeup, different brands, high & low end...and I do not know but that bronzer is the only one that makes a difference, and brakes me out, could it be the coconut?
