I could have sworn that he already did. I know he's talked about that album before.
@Panzer7318 жыл бұрын
I would prefer him not to. If he's going to be as picky as this, i wouldn't like it. Feels kinda bias tho. I mean: He clearly does not understand why "Without love" is a great song. He thinks it's cheesy, and i can see why. But Descendents ARE cheesy. Besides, there's too many things good about this album. Like the track "No fat burger", in wich they reference to "I like food". "Beyond the music" is conceptually linked to "I quit" and "Thank you". He's just reviewing it because it's trending, not because he knows what the band is about or cares about what this means for the fans, or just for the Descendents as a band. I mean, so many points on this review are so wrong i could go on and on. But fuck it, i dont care. I'm not totes mad a fandango for this, i probably could give a shit review to a noise album he loves.

I actually really liked the album. Does it suffer from too much pop sensibilities? Yes. But so does any commercially successful "punk" album of the last 25 years. They just slowly but surely embraced the pop punk. The real problem with this album for me was that it came out 20 years too late. Judging by it's sound alone, this is a 96-98 album. Which is kind of... odd. I immediately went into nostalgia mode, as I was listening to it. For some reason it reminded me of my first time listening to a Bad Religion album back in 97. But for that specific era in music this would have been a 4/5 album. But yeah, it's kind of strange to listen to these melodic progressions and sentiments in the 2000 teens.

However, this was the album that made me listen to everything from the past like FAT and honestly, I could see why you only give it a 5 but for me I always listen to this album now and I’d personally give it an 8.5. @ERGTDK8 жыл бұрын
I'd give the album maybe a light 6. I enjoyed the bursts of energy that the track list had to offer. A large majority of the album I'm indifferent towards, but it certainly has a strong opening with Victim of Me and On Paper, even if that is then counter balanced by Shameless Halo (IMO the 2nd worst track on the record) and then another train qreck with No Fat Burger. I like the album for sure, but I really do agree with you on about every negative you pointed out about the album. The whole mid section of this album has overlong "saccharine" songs that remind me of something off of one of Days Go By. IMO most of the tracks that go past 2 minutes are a no go, Fighting Myself excluded. One thing I really admire is that they are still able to put out atleast decent albums after 30+ years, and haven't descended into a poppy mess like Blink-182 or the Offspring have

So you think Show Me The Body is interesting but don't like this record? Guy. Also, this isn't a "comeback record." Descendents haven't gone anywhere. They've been playing shows often since the last record. Some of these songs have been written a while ago. Descendents are one of the sharpest bands in punk and always have been. This record is better than any punk record you've given a positive review to this year, all bands who likely who cite Descendents as a source. Light 5? Guess you hate fun my guy.

without love, smile, comeback kid are all awful songs, then there are 4 or 5 pretty good songs not great, then there are 7 or 8 songs that are really good bordering on great, and basically work so well because of the energy and pace they carry, despite the mostly contradictory lyrics about the band aging; these are fun songs... my favs are limiter, testosterone, feel this, no fat burger, fighting myself. It's a good album by the ageless Descendents, 8 out of the first 11 tracks are the best music on this album, after that the next 5 songs to end the album are all pretty weak, despite maybe 1 or 2 for some people. ...strong 6 to light 7... I can't wait for their next album to come out next decade. lol seriously look at every release they've had since "All" (87'), "Everything Sucks" (96'), "Cool to be You" (04'), "Hypercaffium Spazzinate" (16') ...
