Also you can read Numbers 32:5-23. This chapter speaks about crossing over the Jordan, which means to endure the battle of the flesh suffering temptations. Christ was baptized in the Jordan. The Jordan river can be spiritualized into the waters of affliction. We all must be willing to cross over the Jordan just like Moses commanded the congregation of Israel.

Okay....is this teaching in the old testament? Yes!! Go to the book of Deuteronomy 29:19. If you bless yourself in your heart saying, "I shall have peace, even though I follow the dictates ( or desires) of my heart (which means living after the flesh) as though the drunkard could be included with the sober. So to live after the Spirit means to be sober and to live after the flesh means to be drunk. Does it not say in the last book of the bible that the drunkard will have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH?? "But he who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be my son." Also I would say to you, read Deuteronomy 29!!! Love you all in the Lord, God bless you 💓🙏

how does “many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14) fit in to this ?

It’s a verse at the end of the parable where there are those who are called to the wedding feast and do not accept the invitation (Jews). Then the slaves are told to go into the streets and invite people evil and good (disciples witnessing to the Gentiles). The chosen reflect the ones with whom the seed took root and enter the marriage feast through Jesus. Similar to the wide and narrow way (many and few).

If you go to Desiring God org he actually has a series on Romans (I believe it’s 8 Years long). That’s different from this though. But I think it will be helpful and a blessing to you.
