Just making sure that you're aware; you forgot to mention Crota and how he cut the piece of the Traveler that the Hive used in their ritual. Of course, you may be saving that for the DLC coverage but just remember to add the fact that he is Oryx's son. Corruption is a common aspect of the hive, so i assumed Xyor is a corrupted Yor or some sort. After all, the exotic bounty did say the thorn must be removed of its bond with its owner (I could be wrong, can't remember well)

If I'm not mistaken, the story of Yor was actually true. In the end of the Thorn bounty you do fight a witch by the the name "Xyor the Unwed." Since his transformation to the darkness he took on a new form and carried a new name. I agree that this story is symbolic but I also believe it may retell true events.

Regardless of how good or not year 1 was, part of the problem was that no game could have lived up to the expectations we had by the time it came out.

Here's my theory...The hive was corrupted by the fallen.The hive was originally people like us but Darkness consumed their souls....But in destiny 2 they gotten to (spoiler)Titan So u had to get rid of em BUT If play through Titan U'll notice that the Hive is fighting The fallen and what if the Hive have some of some kind of light in their souls that makes them try to eliminate the Fallen?(JUST A THEORY)

the knights appear to rank higher than wizards knights appear to be the actual leaders of hive forces where wizards are kinda like air support and that appears to be the case in hive society as well(that is if they have any equivalent of it) since all the leaders or honored hive we encounter are all knights and the powerful wizards we encounter are usually tasked with religious or somewhat scientific purpose and wizards in general appear to lead hive forces only when a knight is not present this is further backed by a few facts: -crota who is the greatest hive power we've seen to date is a knight -the hive seen to hold swords as the most powerful and honored weapons and only knights are seen wielding them -oryx(who i theorised might be a wizard and crota's mother and therefore making wizards the highest ranking) is apparently crota's father as mentioned by eris in the tower(she will sometimes say something along the lines of "his father won't forget this") therefore implying that oryx is male and we know for a fact that only knights and wizards hold titles or power among the hive and since all wizard's are female then we can assume oryx to also be a knight

Not really when you think logical. You see less wizards to the Knights, you encounter knights more. Which means that there are less of the higher tier enemys and this means there are less wizards. Therefore wizards we higher in the ranks making wizards superior

Theory:Hive evolve or grow. Thrall into ogres.They look the same in a lot of ways they have the brain like thing sticking out of their head and have the same body shape except the ogre is bigger and buffer. Acolytes into knights.They have some of the same features and weapons but the knight is more powerful and looks like it has more armor As for wizards it could be that some evolve into will of crota like omnigul but different names.This one doesn't make as much sense as the others but it's possible

They made a deal with the worm gods for power and that deal was you give us light we give you power. I think this because when we find the guardian outside the temple ghost says there's not light but when we find ikoras friend in the mission paradox we can sense his light even though he is a pile of bones. And that's why they had a shard of the Traveler because they were using his light to keep there end of the deal

Do you have a public email account, or other way to present a lengthy theory? Some friends and I have formulated an interested theory involving the Fallen and the supposed function of the Servitors. While certainly unorthodox, there is some evidence in the Grimoire cards to support the theory, but detailing it in KZbin comment(s) without giving references wouldn't really give it justice. Anyways, nice lore series, you earned yourself a subscriber ever since I saw the VoG video.

Awesome! The Weekly Lore! I'm Loving Destiny by the way. The Hive is so creepy lol. That chained up Beast! The more I play and experience the Story (Beyond me why the complaints exist) It resembles Religious stories souch right down to the chained up Beast, the Light/Darkness, The Traveler reminds me of an Angel or a Prophet, and the over advancement of Technology... Its an awesome story in my opinion, and I'm loving it.

I think the problem isn't lack of story, but lack of presentation. Most players play this game as a fps, and nothing else. Something to come home to after work and shoot stuff. People who have sought out the story, (us) are finding the story incredibly deep, and thorough. So I think the complaints can be traced back to Bungie's lack of presentation OF the story, what with there be a reddit thread having to have been made explaining WHY we, story-wise, are in the VoG. Wally's doin a great job of bringing the cards out in the open for those who have no desire to collect them or read them. (not me, I love reading/collecting them, just making a point for the others who don't. XD)

Well hopefully I can get these videos to a point of professionalism that they are almost as good as the game. Something I am shooting for is being more open with topics, currently it is about 80% script, 20% fluff, and I really dislike speculation. The overall aesthetics and habitats remind of the Necron of WH40k fame. Except that their form is of a more decayed and horrific organic form. I feel like if they do reproduce, it's not any form encountered by humanity as of the game's timeline. To me, they are overall a race of Frankenstein monsters that are capable of nightmarish evolution and creating more nightmares themselves.

not sure if you've mentioned it in another episode, but you talked about ogres' transformation and gruesome process in which they become ogres. This makes even more sense if you pay attention to how an ogre is just a huge, bulky, ugly thrall.

there isn't much to go on other than this he was a powerful guardian with a strong light who brought hope to all the people he protected but he met a great darkness on the moon and he both feared it and hungered for it and for some time he fought his urges but once he was too weak to fight it he accepted that this was bound to happen sooner or later(wether he actually wanted it to happen is still not clear) and so he only hoped that others would remember him as a proud guardian and not as a monster this man held a weapon named "The Rose" it was a true weapon of light that rightfully belonged in the hands of such a guardian but once he became dredgen yor he renamed the weapon to "Thorn" as it was only an instrument of pain and death(wether the weapon changed forms when he became dredgen yor is still not clear) one thing is certain about thorn: it was more powerful than the rose or at least that was true when wielded by yor and with such a powerful weapon dredgen yor was the first to ever defeat the mighty titan thalor in the crucible later on he somehow met a "guardian"(im not really sure this man actually was a guardian) named shin malphur who carried the last word which he either inherited or recieved as a gift from jaren ward(who had tex mechanica custom build him the weapon from his designs) both malphur and yor dueled at dwindler's ridge and it is assumed that malphur won although it's still not certain if yor was killed or merely defeated only to return later that is really all there is about dredgen yor but there is one more thing about thorn it is a weapon of sorrow one of the powerful instruments of war touched by the hive's darkness and forged in the dark knowledges written within the hive's ritualistic "books of sorrow"

Wally it seems that way for sure. They are the darkest of the enemies in Destiny, and judging from the idea that they have some kind of religion, they may very well be serving the Darkness and might be it's creation. After all, guardians are forged in the light of the Traveler, so why can't the Darkness forge something of it's own

Since Hive are thought to be death, or part of death itself, what happens when a Hive creature creatures physical body dies? The Voidwalkers have been said to be very close to the Wizards, so is it possible that the Hive go to "the Void" after physical death?

+Cody Mc Colpin They do and I'll elaborate on it. (Now, I'm a player of TTK so these questions you're asking were answered.) Hive are immortal due to parasitic worms within them that they must feed with destruction to stay alive. They can only die from unnatural causes. When they do die their soul vanishes into the ascendant realm and might be lost forever. However their soul can be recovered and they can be reborn into a different ascendant realm if they die after physical death.

yeah i was able to do it all on my own until i got to defeating that one wizard on the summoning pits run...the multiplayer challenge was hard as hell

And that's why i'm disappointed in Destiny's lore. A good story, but with lousy storytelling. (not Wally, but those lame grimoire cards). Couldn't they have just added some hidden audio, video and text files for players to discover accross the different areas instead of those pointless dead ghosts?

Well, there won't be a next time for me bro, I don't think that i'll invest any more money and/or time in any sequels/DLC content other than the basic stuff and the first expansion pass (unless they start thinking outside the box and surprise me with something that's really worth wasting my money on). Most money ripping games rely on the pay-to-win strategy, this one is more like a f*cking train of DLC's and sequels. If the basic content in the next sequels (i.e. Destiny 2-3-4 etc.) is as limited as the first game's content and that they'll still heavily rely on DLC's and those lame grimoire cards to tell us the story, then i'm sorry to say that it's a bad deal to make in my opinion. And yes, I am terribly, sincerely, honestly f*cking sorry cuz I really hate to see a game with such great artwork, epic soundtracks, amazing story, good gameplay (excluding the repetitiveness) and voice acting of Peter Dinklage (LOL) go to waste like this.

In "Plague of Darkness" coding, it says the final boss's name is "The Oversoul" That can't be right? Or can it? Let me tell you something... What does the Oversoul look like in Crota's end when it's normal (Not a big green star)... Want to know what it looks like? A Cracked open Traveler There was a theory when the game first came out that "Oryx" and "The Traveler" come from the same species, but went to war with each other due to different philosophical ideas. If "The Traveler" and "Oryx" came from the same species, they must've looked exactly alike. "The Traveler" and "Oryx" went to war at one point and the Traveler won, which crippled "Oryx" What if, What if.... That crippled thing in the sky in Crota's End that looks like the Traveler Is Oryx, crippled, but recovering.... This would explain why the final boss's name in Plague of Darkness coding is The Oversoul... This makes so much sense because when you beat Crota, you can see the Oversoul dash back into the distance, as if it is retreating... Which leads me to believe that when we do "Crota's End", we are fighting Crota... Without even realizing that "Oryx" is right there with him.
