Hey destiny, I’m a trans girl here and if there’s any way of getting me on I’d totally come on and talk about this issue. I really do think that the current discussion on trans sport kinda lends itself to some of the arguments on the terf/conservative side. The discussion if it’s “to include trans ppl” should be around the the metrics of what should and shouldn’t be included. Like for example you made the concession that early transitioners should be included and that if they didn’t go through male puberty you can’t see a reason why they should be included. I would love to be on and maybe discuss this more though and if anyone can upvote this so destiny can see it. I would love to be a more centered person on this specific issue because quite a few of the ppl who have discussed this issue with you have in a few instances done it in bad faith.

I also don't understand how anyone could be so confident arguing that differences for athletic sports between the genders could only be due to societal factors. I could believe that for chess but the differences for sports like football, soccer, basketball, hockey are so extreme that male youth teams would annihilate women pro and national teams. In the case of (American) football, I'd imagine half the women's team leaving the field with concussions. It's so ludicrous.

What I don't understand is this persons argument that the physical advantages men have over women on average is due to society, rather than biological differences. I think you can certainly possibly explains some of the gap that way, and the only way you would know for certain, is if you tested people who grew up in some gender neutral community cut off from the outside world, which is never going to happen. Yet does this person think that the reason women are shorter on average for example, is because of society ? How could society possibly be making women substantially shorter on average ? We know that society isn't making women shorter on average, which would serve as good evidence that other biological differences like our nervous systems, muscle mass, fat distribution, somatotype and so on, are also not caused by society, but rather biological differences.

There is no such thing as “mens sports” at any level; be it the NCAA, high school, or even further down the age scale from there. Women are free to participate in any of these activities if they’re talented enough to earn a spot on the team. “Womens sports” at least at the collegiate level, were created via title IX precisely because women were not able to do just that. There’s no specific rule barring women from competing with men in high level organized sport. This theoretical “experiment” around de-gendering sports has already been running for 50+ years. We know how it shakes out.

42:35 Without being too mean, this really exemplifies a huge and meaningful disconnect that sometimes comes from people on that side of the trans sports conversation. It's not just that these people have never played sports before. This person clearly has never even WATCHED sports to suggest something so stupid. Personally, I love basketball. I enjoy watching it at all levels (high school, college, professional) and by all genders. Women's basketball specifically is more exciting than it's ever been with so many talented young players coming up. HOWEVER... The NCAA (college) basketball tournaments just wrapped up. Both male and female games air around the same time. If you ever watch a woman's NCAA game right after watching a man's NCAA game, the women look like they're moving in slow motion. That's how jarring the difference is. The best female player could never hope to chase down any of those guys on a fast break. Female centers aren't strong enough to post up male point guards, let alone male centers. For Christ's sake, women's basketball is already played with a smaller ball to better fit their hand size. The idea that these differences can somehow be socialized out is complete nonsense.

Lefty: "You want to eliminate trans people from all sports, I don't think that's ok." Destiny: "No, they can still compete in their own leagues." Lefty: "But there isn't enough for leagues so you're effectively eliminating them." Meanwhile: Destiny: "You want to eliminate all women from sports, I don't think that's ok." Lefty: "No, they can compete with trans women." Destiny: "But the trans women have an advantage and would beat them, effectively eliminating them." Lefty: "No it's different when I do it, there's not even that many trans people anyways, also think of humanity, also you sound transphobic." So he's willing to extend "effective" elimination of transpeople by having their own league into totally eliminating transpeople from sports when Destiny says it, but when destiny says the same thing about him effectively eliminating women from sports all of a sudden he wants to be really specific with his wording and "Well technically they can still play." Trans people could still play in destiny's version. "Oh but they can't in reality cause not enough people." and not in reality with your version cause the trans people beat the cis people. Classic case of wanting the most charitable interpretation of his words "I was joking when I said women's sports don't matter, also technically I'm not eliminating women's sports", but giving the worst interpretation of Destiny's "You basically just want to get rid of trans people, you don't seem to care about the humanity of people, is that not good enough?"
@bradmiles1984
@bradmiles1984 2 жыл бұрын
It comes simple to what does the most good, eliminating 50 percent of the population from sports vs 1 percent of the population. That is Destiny's point, yes it sucks for transpeople but unless you can even the playing field it's just how it is. Right now the standards are messed up that they even have to be in. They can have 3 times the amount of testosterone as a normal healthy woman produces and still be in a acceptable range. The only way a biological woman could get those levels is by taking steroids which is illegal for them. How is that fair? In terms of having their own league, just make an open gender league then they can compete with biological men and women but at least they are agreeing to it not being forced into being at a disadvantage. At least in sports where it is competitive, if it's some local league it doesn't matter but when there is scholarships and money on the line then yes transwomen should be excluded if they have an unfair advantage.
@Mubiki
@Mubiki Жыл бұрын
The irony is that people get excluded all the time. In college for example, not every woman who wants to compete gets to. Some people are excluded because they are not good enough. So this idea that nobody is "allowed" to be excluded in a civilized country is a false narrative anyway. It is about biological advantages. Those with unfair advantages should be excluded, just like those who were simply not good enough. This is the way the world works.

Yes, one thing people don’t understand is that the differences manifest in the extremes. So if you have one transgender woman competing in something then she’ll basically have blocked the top spot, then if you have two, the top two spots will be blocked and so on. I think they should make people who think this way play a game, whichever game that can have a top 3 with 3 prizes let’s say and then basically never hand out the top prize and that would be a good experiment on the motivational consequences this has and also on how fairness is being perceived…

In situations where you cant make everyone happy it seems obvious to do the thing that makes the most people happy. Making things unfair for 100% of women in sports just to accommodate a tiny % of elite athletes in a very small demographic just seems crazy.

I havent seen this video in particular yet, so if he says something stupid about puberty blockers in this video, well, itd surprise me

@Lydia No, it wouldn't. That would require normalizing giving puberty blockers to children (which do indeed have a lot of dangers) for no confirmed reason. I don't want to raise a generation of kids with early onset osteoporosis and inhibited brain development just because you want an extreme minority of trans people to join sport later on in life. You can tell immediately when people have no experience in sports. I love sports, but have never competed at any kind of high level. I put the work in, I do my push-ups, I hustle. But 90% of men can literally get up off the couch, having not worked out in years, and be faster and stronger than me. When I was in high school the difference was absolutely immense. It's gotten slightly less as I've gotten older simply because the average guy who gets up off the couch at 30 might also have back pain and a knee injury. What really gets me about this whole discussion is that I will argue until my dying day that there IS variability in men and women. I am a tall woman who likes sports, so there ARE cases where I am better for the job than a man. Not because I am stronger, but because I am strong enough AND willing to put in the work. But athletics are a different thing entirely. Athletics are about peak performance. The STONGEST female boulderer. The one who blows all the other female competitors out of the water. She is known for being able to complete SOME male boulder problems. That's the bar. She is not competitive with the top men, she is just barely able to project some of the same problems as them.

"It only takes 1 trans dominating women's sports to cause an issue and destroy sports for women." - So we do it by sex. Then transmen start destroying women's sports. Transmen would still have no chance against cis men. "I dont really have a position on this or care either way, but both of your arguments are flawed. Unless your position is that transpeople shouldn't compete at all." Based on what logic? I said the competitions are based on sexual differences so each sex should compete within their own category. Do you have issues with reading? Males compete with other males, females compete with other females. Is this concept hard for you to grasp? On my first argument, if you are such a small minority that you can't even justify your own league, why are we even talking about this? I have vitiligo, a similar prevalence rate as trans. 42:24: I’ve got a short story about that. I’ve run track for about 10 years. Started in 6th grade and took it up to college. During college I met a young lady that ran the same events I did and she’s been training to run track since she was about 6 or 7 years old. I’m maybe about an inch and a half taller than her so we’re hitting around the same ish size. In college I missed the off season practices so I can work on keeping up my academics, but she never misses an off season. During the start of the season we train together and I’m leaving her in the dust as if I’ve still been conditioned and she’s been the one slacking. She’s a phenomenal runner and among the best we had on our team, and always in the first heat making great times. I’m a part of the second heat team… I made decent times but aggressively mediocre compared to my other male competitors. She’s had tremendously more training than I’ve had and I could beat her in a race without issue. This guys argument that if women were training in similar sports up and around the same time the males were, it’s just so wrong.

Imagine working for decades to get leagues set up for women to have a place to compete, and then us tossing all of that aside in the name of "progress."

I love how these people work themselves up when talking about Destiny and when they finally come in hot to dunk on him, he calmly engages with them and makes attempts to cool the conversation down to the point where they relax on their stance of him. It's almost like the perception of Destiny is triggering to them yet when they come face-to-face with that entity they realize that he's a rational human being capable of having a casual dialogue over a disagreement. Maybe he's not the most toxic part of twitch.

People who suffer from an incredibly rare condition such as being trans are just shit out of luck on sports and other metrics where they want to compete against their cis counterparts, just like people who are disabled in some way. If they really want to compete, let them compete against males. The male category was left open for a reason. This way, women get a place to play, and those trans people can still compete. The whole trans argument is becoming like the systemic racism argument. It'll never actually help the people it's meant to help, but it will create career opportunities for all the rich spoiled brats coming out of university who don't actually want to do anything more than argue on the internet.

@Lydia do you know what the word condition means? please don't type before you look it up. Being straight is a condition.

22:20 That's probably the most important reason trans women need to stop fighting to compete in women's sport, it's only causing more hate toward the trans community (most importantly including the trans who don't advocate for trans women in women sport). And if you hold the position women should compete in men's sports, than it shouldn't be wrong to advocate trans women to compete in men's sport, not because they aren't women, because they're better than women, or how ever you want to frame it, I have no issue with anyone who is proud to be their gender whether they are cis or not. forcing people to be proud for you is like forcing someone to love you.

Anytime someone says "it's a small number of people so they won't take up the whole sport" you should respond that the same can be said about the population of professionals. The population of professional athletes is less than 1% of the population of athletes playing the sport. Not JUST 1% of the population, but less than 1% of a subset of the population. So it's silly to bring up how trans people are such a small amount of people. Well if 1% is an accurate representation of trans people guess what, in America that's 3.5 million people, 1.75 million trans women. That's enough to fill multiple times the position of every single professional female athletic position.

First video I've ever watched from Destiny - I have never subbed so quickly. I'm excited to see what's coming next. I dig your conversation style wholeheartedly and I understand the struggle when you try to keep composure when you strongly disagree with the opposing side.

Hi, far right Trump supporter here. I’m becoming a destiny fan, because you/he is logical and rational, accepts truth over emotions. This is a core tenant of civilization, and a fleeting trait of today’s youth. So, while I disagree on some of your views, I respect you overall and enjoy listening to your debates. With that said, I’ve yet to hear your position on the second amendment (I’m sure it’s out there I just havnt seen it yet). I believe firmly the second amendment is the only thing standing in the way of complete global tyranny. How? Simple: After WW2, all nations of the world chose between two alpha nations to emulate: the USSR and USA. Countries that wanted to work with the USA had to be capitalist, not tyrannical, or we’d not trade with them to some extent (some exceptions do apply). So, the freedom in the USA spread to other nations that wanted to work/partner with us. Thus, the only thing preventing the entire world from adopting Soviet style communism was a free America. Since a free America was/is required to stop global communist soviet style dictatorships, the thing that keeps America free from government tyranny is actually the thing that keeps the western world free: the second amendment. How? If the federal government were to be taken over by a communist political party for example, it knows it would not be able to gain complete control without a massacre and a civil war. This is what prevents the Biden administration from taking peoples property and redistributing it to their voters for example. The outcome would be so disastrous, it would be political suicide if not actual suicide. So, the second amendment is what keeps this country free, and this country being free is what keeps other western nations free. As America goes, so goes the world. Since communism killed about 100m in the 20th century, despite only being in some nations, the potential for harm without a second amendment is significantly higher than with an armed population. If America loses its freedom, millions will die in various western countries. Why? Because that is how communism operates, through democide and coercion. This has been observed in the following examples: USSR, China, Cambodia, Venezuela, Cuba and more. You don’t think it can happen here, and it can’t so long as we keep the second amendment. Just throwing that out there, as in well caffeinated today.
