You convinced me, purchased and had ford install today, 2hrs labor at 130.00hr here in south Florida. Also bought the kn prefilter like you. I can 100% say that this is a huge difference in daily driving and performance. I immodestly felt the change and the power, the exhaust is significantly more aggressive and poppy like you also said. I would recommend this upgrade for anyone

I can see how the No Lift is hard to get used too especially the older you are too.. You spend your whole life doing things a certain way and then you can't even lift your foot a little.. That will be very hard for me to get used too. I will probably never use it if I do go with this kit.. But this has been a great video on it on the power pack 2..

Great review vid sir! I see that you also have the GT350 steering wheel. Sounds great. I also went with the PP2, the red lined steering wheel, exhaust and all that. However, although I do like a lot the no lift shift for drag days, for track days is too violent. Can confirm: - Stuttering sounds: it tends to engage too easily AFTER the next gear was already in place and throttle is engage too quick, the engine feels like it’s coughing a fur ball for half a second. The NLS rev limiter doing its thing (feels like a bug in programming to me). - A lot more burbles and exhaust sounds when engine braking. Very rarely sometimes I have had a full single “plack” exhaust blast sound, that sound that an overly tuned car or almost super old falling apart car makes. - At the very beginning of the tune the car was all weird for about 100miles, then all good (mostly accel reaction in my case, don’t know about engine knock, don’t even know how that sounds...) Nice downshifts 👍

Also FYI you have to remember to get your file PC3 file from ford after they program your car? They had no clue what I was talking about, it’s in bold print in the manual. I had to help them find it, it auto generates a file with your cars VIN number. This file is needed if you ever need an update or changes to the tune that they program into your vehicle

Nice vid, I went with the PP1 because I hate the GT350 intake (I had it on the power pack for ecoboost last year). One suggestion, if you're pulling timing bad change the spark plugs, the OEM ones are gapped all over the place. I had a huge spread in mine, just replaced with motorcraft ones from the dealer and they were spot on. Also check for updates to the tune, there have been one or two by now.

I have a 2020 gt pp1. Ford has a kit for the 2018+ now but it's over $1000. I'm all about that low end torque gains but yet the factory intake on the 18+ flows just as well as any CAI so I want to keep the stock box. Idk if the stock intake will fit over the 87 mm throttle body tho. So over a grand for a throttle body and tune is too expensive.

Very cool. Couple questions for you, I want to scuff and paint the top of my coolant reservoir matte black, I'll remove, mask connections and hot/cold markings. See any issues with that? I don't see dropping $100 for a plastic cover or aftermarket tank. Also, how important is an oil separator IYO?
@fredboy007
@fredboy007 6 жыл бұрын
Adam Mohler my catch can is about 75% full every 6000 miles, so I think it's worth the price of admission. As far as painting the coolant reservoir it's really hard to do a good paint job yourself it will likely flake off after time passes.
@mohler99
@mohler99 6 жыл бұрын
ellared4.9 Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be looking into a catch can. I may try to scuff a small area on the bottom of the coolant tank and brush paint a test strip then do a peel test. Plastics will react to paint in strange ways depending on their composition. Part of me thinks even a failed paint job would look better than the stock plastic look, figured maybe it's worth a shot.

1st question Where did you buy it for $608? I paid $670 from. CJ ponny. Second question i will be installing PP2 at a regular ford dealer. They told me 2 bring my own laptop for a tune part. Do you think this will not effect the warranty? And also, do i have to send a receipt from a dealership or on top of that do i have to get a licence number of the technician that did the install? Looks like they will have me upload the tune by myself at their facility. Any tips, to look for any problems right the way after the install?
@fredboy007
@fredboy007 6 жыл бұрын
Ivan Fedyshyn I got mine from Levittown Ford with free shipping during Black Friday. You want to use your own Laptop and down load the program with your email before you go to the installer, so that if anything happens, the stock tune will be on your laptop (not the dealer's). Also, if you need to adjust a setting in the calibration (there's only 2 or 3), you can do that from the program on the laptop. It will have no effect on the warranty. You'll need to keep your reciepts for the install AND the original purchase reciept. Scan them and e-mail them to Ford Performance's warranty division. If a dealer installs it, you shouldn't need the technician's credentials. Make sure they don't crack the airbox at the bottom from corner by shoving it in and make sure the MAF sensor wiring has enough slack and is properly secured to the air box using the provided clip

You’re so knowledgeable on this I wonder if you can answer a question, or point me in the right direction... my dealer installed Stage 2 pp for me in late ‘17, and I was really happy with the performance difference. They used their own laptop and never gave me any files or downloads afterwards. A few months ago, a check engine light resulted in them replacing my entire intake manifold, and I swear (it could be my imagination) I feel like it’s lost a step. Tech told me replacing the intake manifold did not change the Stage 2pp tune, and said there’s no point in trying to reapply the tune, though I’m not even sure they saved what would be needed. My question- could it be true that replacing the manifold, and doing whatever programming that required, would not impact the Stage 2 pp tune? Is there any way my car can tell me what tune it’s running. I’ve had good experience with my dealer till now, but this situation is frustrating. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
@fredboy007
@fredboy007 5 жыл бұрын
The car would run horribly and have a Check Engine Light if the dealer installed the factory Calibration with PP2 hardware on the car. You could try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and seeing if that helps, but it's quite difficult to diagnose issues without actually being there to look at the car myself.
@gdiones
@gdiones 5 жыл бұрын
ellared4.9 That’s helpful- didn’t think about the idea that the stock calibration wouldn’t run right with the larger throttle body and intake. It’s probably ok then, as it runs fine. It doesn’t lack power, and I fully acknowledge that it may just be my imagination. Maybe I got so used to the better performance over the last year that it feels normal now. Thanks again.

Martin5.0 I've been driving cars with manuals over a decade, but I still make mistakes. Everyone that I've heard having that issue, including myself, was because of the issues mentioned above. Martin5.0 I've had the power pack 2 on mine for about 6 months and I have the EXACT same issue. I had mine installed at the dealer to keep the warranty and took it back to them after I noticed the issue. They claim that everything is fine and that since there are no codes it is performing as it should. I also contacted the Ford Performance tech line and they referred me back to the dealer....no help. It does not have the hiccup if I actually USE the no lift shift, only happens when shifting aggressively above 5k rpm, WOT and when I dump the clutch in the next gear.

Jacob C. I can live with it, it’s more annoying then anything, I’m positive it’s a tuning issue the computer glitches when you floor the gas kinda like it thinks you want the no lift because your flooring it other then that I definitely feel the power gain and I like the package, it’s not a big enough issue to get rid of it

See I bought my 17 Used from a Chevy dealer.. And I have gone to 7400/7500 RPM without any power loss or Power cutting out.. It only had 1 owner and 8,909 miles on it when I bought it and it did have an Xpipe on it too.. So I don't know if it was tuned or not but the Xpipe is a sign that something may have been done.. The car looked garage kept and still smells like it just came off the line and I have had it 8 months now and put 2,600 miles on it since I have owned it.. But I try to shift at 7100 to 7200 RPM only when I am pushing the car. Most of the time I short shift and just cruise it around and rarely ever go past 7000 RPM.. But there's been those few times where I've went to 7500 by accident and no power cut.. LOL.. So IDK..

Unless you gave them your laptop or a storage device to put the stock calibration on, you don't have it. It can't be saved to the procal tool. The tech that installed the calibration may still have it in the computer he used if he hasn't deleted it.

So before I left for the dealership, I actually downloaded the ProCal tune on my laptop using my voucher number. So the dealership actually used my laptop for the calibration because it could only be downloaded one time using the voucher. Then when they gave me a storage device with the stock calibration, it was the same file name as the ProCal calibration I downloaded from Ford Performance. Mike UT the gains are definitely noticeable, but not mind blowing. I wouldn't expect that just from an intake and tune; regardless of who you buy it from. Others say it's a massive difference, i'm just not one to exaggerate.

@@fredboy007 Ok, just wanted to make sure nobody was copying your page. You think adding long tube headers with this setup is worth it? I’m in CA so it’s 91 octane only.

@@mikehughes8023 the O2 sensor placement is different with longtubes and may not be safe for the engine with this calibration.

Bill Lovest if you buy Ford Performance parts and register everything properly with Ford then your warranty will be honored. There are only a few parts not warranted but I’m not sure which ones exactly. The Mustang Performance Parts are all covered as far as I know. The best way to do it is to buy the parts and have them installed by your Ford dealership. The dealership should register the parts and installation with Ford but you can have an independent shop install them and register everything yourself. He talks about it a little bit in the video. Here’s a link for all the warranty information on Ford’s Performance Parts. performanceparts.ford.com/warranty/include/pdf/Select_Parts_Warranty_Statement_2017v2.pdf

Ryan Lange thank you I really appreciate your help I’m thinking about even going with the stage 1 since my car is a Daily driver I’ve read that some people are complaining about water in the filter, and I also don’t like the idea of the car running Hot, this is confusing. I just got the Ford Racing Borla Exhaust Yesterday and want to buy everything together so I can Ford put it in all at the same time.
