So after ignoring my hair for 2 weeks, I figured I had to do something with it today. Tried detangling and I gave up. Hopped in the shower and washed it while it was still matted. I then proceeded to painfully divide it in sections, apply deep conditioner and wrap it in a plastic bag. Decided to deep condition for 4 HOURS because only Jesus could detangle it in an hour. After the 4 hours, I rinsed out the deep conditioner and then moisturized with shea butter. I wanted to put my hair in plaits and stretch it out but I've spent so many hours on it already. I've just tied my scarf and I'm laying here thinking about how my hair will be tangled again in the morning. I just want to be bald at this point.
@annettemint8 жыл бұрын
Oh no so I think washing it probably made it worse. I think you will have no other choice but to finger detangle in small sections. If you can get your hands on some argan oil..even better but coconut oil works just as fine. I would finger detangle in small sections using a mixture of warm water and a conditioner with great slip. Follow up with a oil to further detangle. But trust the longest it took me to detangle was a few weeks. I KNOW!! My hair was severely matted around the crown of my head. I just keep working on that section though and with the help of a stylist I got the tangles all out.

@Uni Glor I know your post is old but I just came across it and you have me hollering!!! I too have dry, 4C...D thru triple Z hair. I have been natural for 10 years and it has definitely been a challenge but I'm grateful there are much better products out there now. You just have to find what works best for your hair. BTW, this is an excellent video!!! Moisture and oil are the keys to doing anything to our hair type as well as using fingers (no combs), and very low manipulation which contributes to breakage. Try to find protective styles that last 2-3 weeks or longer.❤❤😍😍

I haven't done ANYTHING to my hair in MONTHS and it was in such an awful, matted condition. Sort of gave up because I knew how much work it'd be to fix myself, but also didn't know where to begin, since washing seemed it make it worse (like you said). Followed the video instructions using Aunt Jackie's Detangler and that worked wonders. Took me 3 hours, but I'm pretty inexperienced and again, MONTHS. So thank you for this video. Helped me a lot.

You and me too, Baby! I've got my own troubles over here. I'm 3c/4a, but it's SUPER dense and curly and will mat up if I let it - mostly at the tips, not at the roots, because 3 days do not pass without my hair being under the shower getting wet, elongated, moisturized, detangled and followed up with "plenty products." I'm not EVEN giving these roots a chance!

I don't personally have this hair type at all. I just clicked the video out of curiosity on how other people do their hair. She said this was gonna take about an HOUR. I was done lol. I'm a 3b-3c, and I thought doing my hair was annoying. No hunty. I detangle in like ten minutes.
@missmonroe89368 жыл бұрын
Omg Ten minutes!??!!😵😱I have 4c hair and it literally takes like hours for me to get my hair detangled and I'm extremely tender headed and I HAVE to put like olive oil and tons of and nearly a whole damn bottle of conditioner to make it at least more manageable to comb out and do what I need to do.Fudging madness sometimes,But it's a beauty lol.
@missmonroe89368 жыл бұрын
***** Sorry I can't tell if your talking to me or the other,But I hope it didnt seem like I was putting out as if doing 4c hair is boorish or annoying,If that's what u got from my comment that isn't what I ment,It was really just to say it's a lot of working out and high maintenance and time to style and detangle but that's just for me personally but like I said it is a beautiful texture . Just wanted to make sure that you dont perceive my comment as dreading or hating on 4c hair just in case you were replying to me ya know😆
@kyleeissomajestic8 жыл бұрын
Victory Ismine I personally don't really enjoy doing my hair. When I do makeup, I feel like I'm creating art. When I do my hair, it just feels like one of those tasks I have to do like showering or doing laundry. I think it's great that you can enjoy it. I wish I could say that I felt the same, but I personally definitely don't, and my hair doesn't even take very long to style.
@missmonroe89368 жыл бұрын
***** It's not annoying,And I didn't say anything negative about 4c hair.I have 4c hair so itd be retarded and dumb of me to hate or be negative towards my own features .Again it's a beautiful and unique hair texture it just takes time to do.I was personally describing my own process of doing my hair and how long it takes doing my hair.It isn't annoying and It isnt boorish.Its beautiful process and takes patience but it's a lovely texture and again Like I said in my original comment It's a beauty ya know?..Really isn't negative but if you got anything negative from what I said then I'm sorry you got that,It wasn't my intent or meaning of my comment.Peace.💛✌😆

I've been natural (4b/4c/4a, in that order) for over 20 years, been doing WNGs/wet-styling as my primary style for about 6 years, and have been wearing a tapered 'fro (with a lot of length on top, because shrinkage) for a little over a year. So you'd think I'd KNOW better but naw...I had another come-to-Jesus moment yesterday with my hair. Like, "My child, at this length you CANNOT wear a WNG for longer than 3 days before redoing it...and SPRITZING is not the same thing as REDOING." LOL...I had to put my detangler of choice (VO5 Free Me Freesia conditioner mixed with AVJ) on my hair and let it sit for about two hours before I even attempted to detangle. Happily all is well but it's like, "Go forth and sin no more..." :)

Although 4 type hair can be a bit of a struggle to detangle at times I love it and thankful that I have my own hair and wear my own hair.

I wish a came across your video early!!! My 15 year old has the same thickness of hair like yours. I just took out a protective style (2 month box braids) and her hair was Soo tangled that I felt like slapping a perm in it...lol!! It took me 4 hours to detangle, wash, and condition her hair. Anyway, thank you. This video and your other videos have helped me so much and we are both new subbies😚😚

I'm so glad to have come across your channel. My hair is the exact same way. I was considering locs, because my hair can matt easily, and it's very full. I used to have nightmares about those hotcomb days, when mom used to do my hair 😯.
@annettemint6 жыл бұрын
Funny thing is...I WAS considered locs too and use it would take no time to loc up.

I would love to come over and help you !! THANKS BOO my bf has 4c tangled hair to the point its dreaded he wants to loc up but I want to detangle first.
