Thanks again. You can tell a successful person by how willing he is to help others get to the same level. Good job! See if you can borrow a small airport landing strip to test your car. They are big enough you can do anything.

Thanks Jim you’re too kind. That would be a lot of fun! There are some smaller local strips that might fit the bill.

When I worked for Doran Chevy we used Marinetex. We applied to bonding strip, lined up, screwed in place then heat set. It set up in minutes then pulled screws, filled with same compound, used light body filler, sand to match, primed then sent to paint shop. Saved damaged parts to use for bonding stips when needed as they matched panels being repaired next job. Of course that was 50yrs ago (early 70's), things have change alot since then!

Hey there Mitch. Ya know, whenever I glue classic Corvettes back together, I use ... errrr hold on there Dan, you're dreaming. For now we'll leave the Corvette sticky stuff to Mid-Year Mitch. This is good info, that I shall file away and hopefully use someday! Take care, and don't get the glue on your good clothes. Dan

Haha thanks Dan. I enjoy the fiberglass work but it’s not for everyone. I leaned into the glue a couple times... my clothes have battle scars lol. Take care Dan.

Hey Mitch! Another great video! One Q: How much working time does the Corvette Image bonding adhesive give you? I was reading up on bonding adhesives on Corvette Forum and the working times varied wildly. Also interesting was that many favored a type of adhesive that could be easily removed with heat. I'm quite ignorant on these so it was a good learning read for me! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!

I have heard that some adhesives can be removed with heat. That probably makes it a lot easier to separate the panels. The working time does vary pretty good. It depends what the temperature is and how you mix it. I’ve had it stay “wet” for 20 minutes up to a couple hours.

Neat trick your father showed you for measuring it out. After this particular brand of bonding adhesive sets, how does it compare shine wise to the original polyglass adhesive? I've used talcum powder in the past to recreate the natural "dull" look of the original bonding adhesive, but will have to try this one out. Thanks for giving a demonstration.

He always has neat ideas. I thought it looked pretty good. It didn’t look too shiny but it might be a little shinier than the original stuff but I didn’t do a comparison. I was very happy with it though.

Where do you buy it from?

I got it from Corvette image. They are the ones that make it.
