Detroit 2-stroke diesel injector timing...a close up of what we're checking...and how.

I love seeing the videos of racks being run and injectors being timed, in the engine. But sometimes that makes it hard to see the detail. So, since I needed to recalibrate my Snap On injector timing gauge it was a good opportunity to show exactly what's being measured and adjusted.
At the end, I show the pages from the M3558 Diesel Injector Gauge instruction booklet for those who don't have them.

I was motivated to get the tool similar to this for the Detroit Diesel 8.2 (m3563 Snap-on). Your video really cleared up how to place the tool on the injector to use the tool properly. The Detroit 8.2 is a 4 stroke so the tool is similar but the part number is specific to the 8.2 4 stroke engine. Thank you Sir!

Bravo for your video. Great ! I have (in France) an Allis Chalmers HD15 Detroit Diesel 6 cylinder 2 strokes. I have to change two injectors that I have to synchronize. I'm quite annoyed... Would you agree to put on Youtbe the complete method to synchronize the injectors on the STP engine block? Many thanks in advance

The only problem with this gauge is can't be used if engine has jakes, it hits Jake housing , most trucks have jakes.

The only problem with the gauge is you can't use it if engine has jake brakes, almost all truck engines have jakes!!
