Ford Sync Radio Fixed!

I have just tried on my 2017 Ford escape and works everything back to normal I have tried everything as you mentioned take it to dealer they couldn't find anything they wanted to change the radio and mojo if I'm not mistaken which was going to be $840. thank you. this is just great. 🙂

Worked great! I had changed so many fuses related to the radio and the issue persisted. Works now though.

Thanks man, worked, I did pull positive off once but not for too long, then pulled again and left it off for an hour, works now, todays cars suck, all same problems, computer on wheels lol

Just a quick heads-up. You really should unhook the negative cable from a battery first. Reason one is pure safety from accidentally grounding out your wrench or ratchet on the body. Reason 2 is that the way computer systems are wired up in cars. Unhooking the positive is bad because it can cause a static charge to zap the electronics. At least that is the rational that General Motors gave us line technicians during their all their electronics courses in the GM Training Centers. It's also a good idea to have a ground strap connected to you and the cars body when doing anything on the electrical system so you are at the same static electricity charge level as the car body.

Just pull the fuse. Look in your manual for which fuse to pull. Same thing (remove power), less mechanics.

Ford put the fuse box in most of their cars in a ridiculous place. Definitely easier to remove the battery

yes, but aren't you supposed to have the battery monitor system reset after a battery swap or disconnect?

That can be done by flashing the lights and hitting the brakes while in the on position. Some years have a different process but it can be done at home without a scanner. Also, while I'm not an expert on all types of Fords such as the hybrids, auto start/stop, EV but usually the resetting isn't needed if the same battery is just being pulled and put back in.

Fords loyal customer base is the only thing keeping them from going broke. I have had many Fords of all sizes from '76 to '07 and they have all been brittle, nasty and forgettable. They have made some good engines tho!

i tried that, still no sound. 2013 ford taurus with the sony radio. might be the ACM. weird part about mine, is it'll show a song playing on my phone but when i go to am/fm it shows blank stations and has a line across the middle of the screen where it would display the channel you are on.

I don't know of any kind of easy fix for that. The only reason this battery pull trick works for the Sync 2 system is because it's running a version of Microsoft as it's operating system.

How often do you need to perform this operation? I’ve had my f150 for 2 days and have done a soft reset 5 times. Now the screen won’t boot past the Ford logo and just goes dark. My thinking is that when I spend this much money on a four year old vehicle this shouldn’t be happening so often we need a you tube video for the masses. Everyone hates on equinox but you know what… I’ve had that car for 6 years with zero problems. Praise The Lord. This is my first Ford and it’s going back to the dealer tomorrow under the grace period.

I have to do this about once per year. That being said I'll pay whatever it takes to keep my 30 year old Ford F-250 on the road before I pay what newer trucks are selling for today.

my 2011 ford taurus sync 3 radio is not working i replaced the fuse for it under the steering wheel and it still isn’t working only thing i get is Ford Taurus on the display and radio is not working at all would this work or do you have any other tips?

I'm not familiar with that setup but doing a battery pull is free so it's always worth a shot.

So, I have a 2018 Ford Explorer, this radio problem started after I went to Ford Repair Services, they say they didn't touch the radio. I gave the car to them with the radio working perfectly... Ford technicians say my Dash Cam caused the problem, but how, if I deliver the car to you working. I have Dash Cam installed in the car for 3 years and have never had any problems... Now they don't want to fix the problem caused, to fix it they will charge me. Conclusion: I disconnected the POSITIVE from the battery for 1 minute, I connected it again and it didn't solve my problem, I did the same with the NEGATIVE and nothing.The entire screen works, except for the radio, which doesn't turn on, When I use my cell phone, everything works except the sound. SYNC 3 - Software Version 3.0 Build 20204 Please, If any of you guys have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!!!

That stinks. I don't know a ton about the sync 3 system but typically you want to force it into doing a self maintenance check. There's also a full factory reset or trying to update it to the newest sync version which may fix it.

Done all of the above and my sync 2 just keeps wanting to do a maintenance reboot and then freezes and turns its self on an off ,doing my nut it as no one seems to know how to fix it​@deuceandguns

I have the same issue with my 2013 Lincoln MKS I tried this once it didn't help. I went into the screen and reset everything back to Factory Settings it cleared out everything as I expected it would but the radio still won't work. I think it might be an amplifier issue. On the small screen next to the speedometer you have choices of GPS, Phone and Entertainment. Mine says Sound is turned off. I can't turn it on or off on the radio. Im going to check the amplifier and make sure it's connection isn't lose etc. Thank you for the video!

Any luck for you with this? I have a '13 MKZ and can't change the radio station or hear music but I can hear sounds when pressing the touchscreen buttons (so know it is not a speaker issue).

Did that for my 2014 Lincoln. NADA. Touch Screen doesn't work. Unhooked battery, let it sit and hooked it back up. Started vehicle, and screen still doesn't work. Uggg

Unfortunately, this won't fix the problem I keep having with mine. The screen loses it's touch screen location. You can touch the screen in a few places, and get results, but the buttons are not where they are supposed to be. You also cannot navigate to the recentering screen to realign the buttons. I have had two units replaced under warranty, and it's gone out again. Biggest pile of crap ever made.

Hey there how you doing wondering if you could help me I have a 2020 Ford Escape and I'm having a lot of trouble today all of a sudden with the radio I check the fuses the fuses seem to be good I went under the hood disconnected the fuse box when I was checking the fuses which disconnected the battery the power to the car and then when I did that and I went back in the car the radio decided to power up and turn back on and work when I turn the car off and turn it back on again the power and the radio won't turn on and no audio nothing I can't pick a source or a station or nothing can't even turn it on so I go under the hood again and disconnected again and went back into the car and the radio working in again then when I turn the car off the radio actually stopped again I can't powered on do you know what it could be thank you so much

Has nothing to do with it being a Ford. Everything is software driven and loaded with modules that fault. All the vehicle makers are over engineering our vehicles. The consumer is paying the price.

Had no audio when synced to my phone and tried this. It worked. drove to store came out started vehicle and it went back to not working again Original problem is still there No audio when my phone is connected through Bluetooth any ideas of whats going on ? Thanks

I've had that happen before and it turned out to be a failing battery. Not a weak or old battery but a defective newish battery that was luckily still under full warranty.

Yep. In my case I just lived with it till the battery full on died about a month later and it went back to normal with the new battery. I'd at least have the battery checked by a parts store for possible voltage/amp issues.
