SF Chapman A good line, but absolute control is just as dangerous, as the events of Deus Ex prove. I chose to side with Darrow. He made the most sense. He saw what was coming, he went to monstrous lengths to prove it, but in the end, he was right.

@@cyberneticbutterfly8506 The choice should have been the truth. Darrow was the truth. He knew exactly what each of the factions were enacting. He knew the only way to change it was to likely die showing them how bad it could become. It didn't work, because Adam buried the truth by thinking we'd all just fix it in the end. This lead to the events of Deus Ex, wherein Majestic-12 has usurped and destroyed the rational members of the Illuminati. Humans are stupid. We do dumb shit. We elect maniacs like Trump, Duterte and Putin and we expect these blowhard, selfish, rich kids and warlords to fix the fucking situation? Jesus... C'mon.

this is actually not true.... there is always some order and law. Because people need belong to group. It is essential to our life like water or air. There is always some order. The problem is that law is always form of brainwashing. Its always based on force of authority and fear. Even the most moral law contains it. Like every brainwashing it makes people mindless and blindly obedient to authority that holds it. When people are under influence of authority they can accept even the most idiotic or horrid law, without question. Law is always brainwashing. Freedom is more important than law, because without it you can never think and question. Without freedom there are no choices or thinking, because your mind is simply not capable of it.

If you are to give an *even amount* of attention to every claim with zero evidence you'll not be done until eternity's end. So why are you giving your particular issue attention and thought? PS: Should we give extra attention to claims where the consequences for if it was true are important? That can't work, cause I could come up with any number of evidence less claims that would be earth shattering if true. In fact an infinite amount. The only reasonable standard is then to give the equal, close to zero, consideration for all evidence less claims. Or properly articulate the reason we think we have. Which is usually an evidence claim.

@MintyHippo30 The point is, it's not about what ending is "the right one". It's about what ending YOU choose. It's about that moment after Eliza explains everything and you stand there having to make that choice. That is the beauty of Deus Ex HR's ending. The clips lend themselves very well to debate about what to do with technology etc. But it really is all about the choice at the end and the build up to it. At least for me, that's why it has such an impact.

@dhx84 I don't think the kill switch was implemented yet. I think that is what they were discussing at the beginning of the game, they didn't seem to have the correct bio frequence or imprint. This would make sense as Mechanical augmentations had just started to become mainstream and militirisation of it had just started, the typhoon aug, invisibility and the machinegun augs are all we see so this might mean that they are still developing more for the army and special forces to use in combat.

The thing is that despite the fact they are a vast improvement over these "mechanical augs", you need to have a specific genetic code for the augmentations to work.

@SempiternalScientist

Not necessarily. You presume that augmentations would usher in an egalitarian society when in fact they were only distributed to those who could afford them, and thus, augmentations which aided either intellect or strength would actually ossify pre-existing social structures and fortify the positions of the elites. Jensen was the exception, and even when you think about it, he was a mercenary in the employ of Sarif's corporation anyway, it was by great effort that he broke free.

I think this is the canon ending. think about it, from what i can gather in the original, augmentations are still very prevalent. granted i'm not very far in the game, but augmentations don't seem to be rejected and the illuminati seems to be very much in power. the darrow ending i think we can rule out as not being canon, with sarif's ending, it's entirely possible. augmentations being pushed further than ever. the self destruct ending, i don't like it so i'm biased but i don't think it's the canon one. it just seems a little out of character for adam to just kill everybody in the building. i guess that one depends on your play style though, i spared several people though, so it looks like it's either sarif's or taggart's ending that is the canon one. as far as the next step in the franchise? i think they'll be better off leaving it a mystery as to what happened to Mr. Jensen.

@xlHawkeyelx yeah thats why they kept (spoilers) cloning the same guy, JC Denton, Paul Denton in the first game. But maybe the game is insinuating that Adam is the original, meaning he was the guy the Illuminati cloned (or Bob page can't remember). I mean he was experimented on as a baby to except mechanical augmentations with ease and have no rejection to them. It is mentioned in the game that his genes are what is allowing Nano-augs to begin to exist because of that.

I actually think that this is the true ending as no one has weapons in their augments, or ones that vastly improve a person capabilities, in the 1st game openly, except the military. In Sarif's ending, you see the results as well, we abandon all old sense of morality for a new one, and augmentation technology steams ahead towards singularity. Here though, you let a bunch of shadowmen and politicians take over, and hope they do the right thing. The convention scene was pretty cool though XD.

1. Deus Ex's Engine was intentionally shitty so they could even get as much as they did in. 2. Deus Ex was Warren Spector's pet project where he literally could go wild. 3. There is simply not enough space on the disc or hours in the day to make a game as deep as Deus Ex one with current technology. Within reasonable budgets and times I mean. Listen parts 0:33 to 1:05. Jensen is clearly refering to how he tried not to kill so this is good non-lethal ending. If you would have ran trough this game guns blazing killing everyone he would have said something along the lines that "It's clear from my actions that this kind of power shouldn't be given to anyone." It's very good that he says "If they're as wise as Taggart says, how bad will their leadership be? I just hope they stand by what they say." because their leadership turns out to be crap. They won't even be able to control their organisation's branches, one of which (MJ-12) later takes over, thus starting original Deus Ex. /watch?v=zKGHL646PlU
