What's really chilling is that this game fits perfectly into the Kingdom Hearts timeline.

I put extra effort into avoiding making direct comparisons/references to kingdom hearts in this video but the temptation was strong

@@K1rkhammer Insane how there are three action games on the PS2 featuring Jack Skellington as a key character, and only two of them are Kingdom Hearts.

I feel like a sequel or remake of this game wouldn't be a horrible idea i mean the ip, to this day, still sells itself and even back then the visuals were captivating i imagine today it could look absolutely amazing

@@delinkwent7375 Imagining this game rebuilt with modern tech to more closely resemble the stop motion style is incredibly exciting. A lot of the game play aspects still hold up, with a couple tweaks/additions to the combat & exploration I think you'd have something really special on your hands

So cool to see a video on this! This was my first game of this genre so years later when I played Bayonetta it felt so nostalgic! Right down to the way she jumped! lol. Baby's first hack and slash. God this unlocked my memory of that clown level, little me would get stuck at that part every game play until giving up and restarting the game to have fun again only to get stuck once again. Never knew about that Dancing Jack costume very dapper!

@@pixievenus3699 I remember spending literal hours on the graveyard levels (chapters 3 and 4 I believe) as a little kid. This game has its moments of frustration for sure. Still love it though!

I belong to the relatively uncommon camp of someone that loves The Nightmare Before Christmas, is a huge DMC nerd, likes obscure and often niche games, and can tolerate jank and tedium if the concept is good enough. While this game isn't winning any awards (except maybe PS2 visuals, because DAMN this game can be passed off as an art piece with how good it does look on the whole WHILE running at a silky smooth 60), it's still quite the charming title that came from an exceptionally unlikely time in gaming. It's also the only game that you can play on Halloween AND Christmas (as far as I can tell), and it wouldn't be out of place. I also love the fact that a lot of DNA from this game can be felt in other games going forward, like Onimusha 3, Devil May Cry 4, and even Bayonetta.

@@1Synner Very similar experience here, either this game was specifically crafted to fulfill all of my (somewhat) niche interests or it played a huge part in defining those interests in the first place

@@K1rkhammer Titles off the beaten path certainly hold that kind of power, and I'm glad some people understand that. By the by, do you have a Backloggd account? It's a great way to keep track of what you have and have not played, as well as show off your collection and talk about said games you've listed.
