My father was a chef. He made his version more creamy and with chopped boiled eggs. I loved it with a hard crust bread. Cheers!

I remembered using a grinder that clamped onto the kitchen work bench to grind leftover ham from a boiled shoulder or shank for my mom to make this for sandwiches to send to work with my dad. Also used to grind up our own cheap cut of beef for burger. 🎉

I LOVE DEVILED HAM... I grew up with the Underwood in the little can with the white paper and red devil. Throw that on some white bread with a little more mayo and there is a heavenly lunch for you! I just had dental surgery and had no problem eating it. Thank you so much for posting this.

I grew up with this. So many memories. Deviled ham sandwiches was my Moms go to lunch for the kids, always out of a can. This recipe is brilliant, I will be making this. Good one...thanks Rik.

Mom would use this in a (sorry no special characters this keyboard) smorgastorta with cream cheese around the stack of white bread slices with various fillings, egg salad, etc. Yum. Great memories, too. Thanks, Rik!

That sounds fun. You could expand it by using different breads and/or crackers, too. I like this idea and may do something like this for Christmas Eve.

Here in the South (USA)...we use deviled ham to make deviled eggs. Mix the yoke with the ham then stuff the eggs. Sooo good. I'm stealing this recipe from you. Thanks Rik!!! LOVE your vids!

I made the deviled ham. It was a little different from the Underwood Deviled Ham that I had in my childhood-- it was BETTER!! My daughter loves it. It's a keeper! Thank you, Rik!

Without the spicy element, you can find this in most US deli departments. It's called ham salad and is great in sandwiches. Iirc, sandwich spread is the same recipe but with bologna. My family loves it. You have inspired me to sprinkle some paprika or cayenne on my sandwich next time.

Goodness... who doesn't remember those little cans of deviled meat?! Had no clue you could actually make it (Duh!). Anyways... this reminded me of spreads I used to make (and my deviled eggs). Found it in a very old cookbook. It was for deviled eggs... then it gave versions to make bologna (or ham) spread and a roast beef spread that was awesome. At the deli counter I used to be able to buy bologna or roast beef "ends" cheap... mince them up... then mix them in mayo, mustard, sweet & dill relish. The only difference was in the roast beef one they added a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Very addictive on sandwiches or crackers. The first part of this recipe reminded me of those... and that I hadn't made them in a long time. Shirley in NH

Never even thought of bologna. That actually sounds pretty good. I'll have to try it next time over ham. I usually throw a handful of cheese in when I make mine if I have it.

Wonderfully quick method. I have the food chopper and will enjoy making more use of that unit. Also prepackaged sliced ham is often on promotional prices at the regional big box grocery stores. And a great way to fancy-up leftover ham trimmings. Personalized ham pate.

Nice! Ever tried making your own potted meat using a slow cooker and shank steaks? Super easy.. and you get bone broth too. Just have to strain it and chill, skim off the fat and you got bone broth. Old world recipe going back to the 1700's or earlier. It's cool stuff.

I've looked for a video on making our own sausage for panakelty and other dishes you've shown here. I can't find much that looks right in the stores here - what kinds do you recommend? By the way, I've tried a few of the dishes you've presented here, and they've been good. Haven't done one with pastry yet, but soon! And one further benefit from watching your videos is that I'm slowly learning the metric measuring system! Thank you! It's proof that one is never too old to learn - I'm nearing 83!

Perfect for me although I might be tempted to up the veg a little so its helping towards the five a day. The ailments I have often dull my appetite and I am always on the look out for tasty healthy snacks so I am not over faced but actually eat something at least. Now the question is do you think this would freeze ok, if it did I would do it in large ice cube trays so can just defrost the occasional portion when and if.

How long can you store it for and can you freeze it?

Great idea boiling ham and presumably bacon etc for 30s to remove that slime
