Azucena Before and After comparison after the recent Tekken 8 Patch

Azucena's previous meta was to - 1. use running32 for rush down 2. poke with the moves shown in the video 3. Throw in a stance mixup in between Now the the first 2 points are completely nerfed, we'll have to see how she places in the tier list in the next few months

You can still use wr32 for rush down. You just don't get +5, you only get +3 now. You can still do it, it just won't connect from range 6 like in previous patches. Also, before it she'd end up at range 6 away from you when you step it and now she ends up at range 4-5. I played vs Azucena after the distance nerf patch and she'd still fly away pretty much like before the nerfs, a tiny bit less. Also still recovers 10 frames quicker than Drag's wr2 and it's much much harder to whiff punish than Drag's wr2 on whiff, because she ends up further away and recovers much quicker. It's just not as broken as before, still a very, very, very good move.

​@@KulaGGinit's actually just +2, which for a WR move, is pretty lacking i think. The distance nerf also made it much more consistent to punish, depending on you character, you usually have a consistent punish with that range. Plus the damage nerfs too. Granted its a quick WR move, but idk, doesnt seem that good imo atleast for now.

Easy to access plus on block mids like wr3,2 and plus on hit lows like Bryan's hatchet have no business being +5 and have no business allowing the attacker to frame trap with a launcher. If you want to frame trap, do it with jabs or d/f+1 and now the defender can *actually defend* and step. In this case you can use your tracking and homing moves, in which case the defender can interrupt you with their moves. That's real Tekken, not whatever it is devs trying to push in T7/8 with busted +5 and more frames on block on mids and on hit on lows.

@@KulaGGin I agree. Being constantly locked in stupid 50/50 is so dumb. These guys where in the office and then someone was like "hmm maybe we should put a lot of moves at +5 or more, so the defender can't kbd or sidestep from the interaction." and everyone else was like "that's genius!"

Honestly, its been a treat fighting actual Azucena players now because i’m seeing stuff I didn’t even know she can do. Fighting her is actually interactive instead of playing WR32 simulator. On the flipside, everyone who abused her and Drag to climb rank are all gravitating to Feng I guess, cause today i’ve seen an ungodly amount of Fengs.

The problem was, and is, they give like 5 different properties to 1 move, and when people complain about it, they take away 4 of the properties that made the move good. For example the jab extension in the video, nerfed tracking, awesome nerf and totally fair. Why make it from safe to punishable? I persnonally hate Azucena, her gameplay and persona too. She just gives me Josie vibes but without the crying. Still, idk why they are so edgy about buffs and nerfs in T8.
