"Successor" is the word you're looking for. Also, 2.1A does refer to the amperage that USB outputs at. Anything over 2.0A. Like 2.1A or 2.4A will enable fast charging. Also, also versions of USB. Like 2.0 vs 3.0 is basically the data transfer speed. Not the power output it allows.

I bought mine on Black Friday and all I can say is wow! For $199 no Bluetooth speaker on the market can compare to the sound that comes out of the 2.0 Radio. It bumps! 🔊🔊🔊🔊

Its the phone thats causing the distortion (you nailed it, max volume turn down 1 notch distortion goes away its the phone) all iphones distort at max volume, in addition Bluetooth will make it much more noticeable, compression of bit rate data for the music, Bluetooth will never sound good on high powered stuff. USB /Aux should sound better than Bluetooth, good stuff keep it up

I got 12 hours off the 2.0 6.0 flexvolt battery at max volume not sure if it was a fluke or it will work everytime for 12 hours on the smallest flex volt battery will be doing more testing on mine

Im a builder out on site daily' I've had this radio over a year out side in all weathers and it's by far the best on the market tough as nails and sounds like a very good quality home system .I have heard all the other building site radios and there shit compared to this one

We have had this radio for over a year, LOVE IT BRAND NEW! Which only means one thing...we have had a few issues...ugh! But not as bad as vinces. (see vinces second video On the problems with the 2.0 radio system).

Sounded like the Bluetooth was a little bit more crisp then the 3.5 mm Jack. but I will mention that on Android devices you are able to do audio routing through USB. On my last phone the 3.5 stopped working after the phone was dropped into a pool and if I was using my M18 jobsite radio to charge my phone I would obviously be doing that because the battery was low which means I could charge faster with Bluetooth being off so I would route audio through USB cable while charging. However doing so did not seem as clear as Bluetooth. I should also mention that the reason I would do that is because my M18 jobsite radiois an older version that did not include Bluetooth so I have to use a Bluetooth adapter with it that is powered from the USB on the radio so if I was charging my phone I did not have the ability to power my Bluetooth adapter while charging my phone also the Bluetooth adapter plugged into the 3.5 Jack which I also did not like that option because it took up both my 3.5 Jack and my USB port on the radio

I like loud and clear, over my phone it sounded like it beat the milwaukee. I think they both have short comings though. May have to go old school and mount my Yamaha home stereo to a dolly and blow them both away. Besides that RB would love it cause it's corded 😆

I blasted some Rotting Christ at full chat with maximum bass boost through one of these. Made every panel of the VW Crafter van shake. For real, everything flat on the equaliser both on speaker and phone, with maximum bass boost in the player app. Sitting next to it in the cargo bay, you where feeling like being pummeled with each hit of the kick drum, every strum of the bass guitar, which considering the genre it was an out right assault... One rap loving handyman on the seat said afterwards that he could still hear it, and feel the bass through the bulkhead even though they raised the volume of the van's source!

The packout had more features and tuner picked up a lot more stations. The Dewalt sound blew the packout away.

Great review as always. Would appreciate having a surge protected power strip on the side (to protect from direct rain) allowing for additional power options. I do like how the Milwaukee allows you to access the compartment via the side, so you do not have to unstack the unit to access the recharge compartment. Sound seems excellent from the Dewalt. I am looking at portable and garage based storage systems now and this seems like a solid addition to the new Dewalt 2.0 line. I picked it up on Black Friday and it rocks, once you get the EQ setup it sounds great, this is coming from a drummer that is used to working with high end systems. Given the size, portability and durability this is an awesome sounds system.

The 1.0 is my third DeWalt radio System. When my Small box is one the radio I can not get the battery that is being charged, the lid will not open far enough. I bought the Bluetooth adapter for my older DS012.

There is a bit of distortion with 3.5 mm the bluetooth sounds better but that's because there is resistance in the 3.5mm cable

I know I’m a year late but I’d love to know how resistance causes distortion. Distortion is from levels being too high for a certain component along the chain. Resistance has no correlation to sound quality. And further to that the resistance of the cable over 3ft is essentially nothing.

The only thing I don't like what's the Milwaukee has is the access to the battery if you need to plug your phone in Milwaukee you can do it from the side this seems like you got to take the packouts off to get to the system but that's a minor situation it sounded really good though

The 3.5 wire usually works better for sound than Bluetooth connection just because it's a direct connection and not a wireless one. 👌

First off, I’m all Milwaukee, and I’ve been waiting to get my hands on their new pack out radio. But I’m also very familiar with the 1.0 dewalt radio, and that thing is badass. I haven’t heard this one yet, or the new Milwaukee, but I’m kinda torn on which one I want. Like I said, I own Milwaukee EVERYTHING, but I also haven’t heard a better job site radio than that first dewalt tough system. Also that $100 price difference is tempting. I NEED a side by side comparison on audio quality Vince! I’m waiting to purchase either until I can get the side by side reviews from you guys! PLEASE make it happen!

I bought the ToughSystem radio on BF. It is very loud with little distortion. It is actually louder on Radio then on Bluetooth or cable. There is no AM setting only FM. The radio antenna signal is better than previous Dewalt radios but I also feel it is not great. I do not like how you change stations you have to press the power button a few times, and long press to turn the power off. I also noticed you had to give the battery door a hit to close it. The latch was not made well and I can see it breaking easily or popping open and a device falling out. I was able to change the songs with my Xiaomi Mi Band 4 quite easily. The form is nice and I like the speakers, touch screen, ability to use and charge batteries, and water and dust resistance. The UI needs works. It is more of a Bluetooth Speaker than a radio and I think there are better options, so I am leaning towards returning it.

I have the Milwaukee M18 and thought that was a great job site stereo, but I snagged this thing at $169.99 and the sound is incredible. My Milwaukee stays in my small shop, the dewalt has its own spot in my tool trailer. Honestly mad the switch to Dewalt for almost everything. Being able to run my lights, and the stereo from the phone is convenient once a guy figures it all out.

There may be something I don't know but from what I have learned in the past... USB is rated in point zeros (.o's). We have standard USB, micro usb, USB 2.0, And USB 3.0 that are commercially available. USB 3.0 is the fastest at transferring data, and it obviously steps down from there... I actually have not learned enough to be sure how much it affects power transfer, but I would assume since it affects data transfer in effect power transfer.
