All of us may make adaptations over time, good ones, but it's valuable to review them and learn how to maintain them in healthy manner, or find even better adaptations. Cheers to Dexter and his family. I'm sure a vet has given them guidance on how to support his mobility (lateral and/or vertical) for the long term. This is not just a publicity stunt.
