Our food supply is dramatically less nutrient-rich than it has ever been, and it’s taking a toll on our health. A shocking 99 percent of Americans are nutrient deficient, including over 90 percent who are deficient in omega-3 fats and 50 percent who are deficient in magnesium. Add to that chronic stress and a heavily processed diet, and it’s a recipe for nutrient deficiency disaster.
Today, we’re sharing a Masterclass episode with Dhru and Dr. Mark Hyman, all about supplements, how to use them effectively, and the top supplements for longevity. They also discuss how to critically evaluate supplement research and much more.
This episode is brought to you by
BiOptimizers: magbreakthrough.com/dhru
Pendulum: pendulumlife.com/
Magnesium Breakthrough from BiOptimizers really stands out from the other magnesium supplements out there. It contains 7 different forms of magnesium, which all have different functions in the body. There isn't anything else like it on the market. BiOptimizers is offering my community 10% off, so just head over to www.magbreakthrough.com/dhru with code DHRU10.
Pendulum is the first company to figure out how to harness the amazing benefits of Akkermansia in a probiotic capsule. To receive 20% off your first purchase of Pendulum’s Akkermansia probiotic supplement, go to www.Pendulumlife.com and use code DHRU20.

W.r.t. melatonin - aren't hormones like a pyramid? And, if you start taking something like melatonin then you're moving into the middle of the pyramid, and when your body goes to check "Hey do I need this melatonin? Oh, no, there's enough." It does that a couple of times and it stops making melatonin. Now you run out and your body isn't making it. Right? The same happens with estrogen for women which is why it's so dicey to all of a sudden stop taking it. My mother did at 80 because the doctor was like, "What why are you taking this at 80?" And, her body went crazy when she came off it (like serious cancer crazy).

It really needs to be mentioned that you need to pair Magnesium with vitamin B1. One increases the demand for the other.

There is a Soil campaign going on lead by Sadhguru. He also talks also about how food needs a rich soil to even have a decent amount of nutrients. And that alot of chronic illnesess right now is simply because of deficiencies. Even people thinking they eat healthy, eat empty food. It's not even just about diseases, deficiencies drive accelerated aging and also stupidity. We all need advanced blood tests to really know what's going on inside.

Yes, we need to get back to natural fertilizer that actually feeds the earth (soil), in the form of ruminate manure and organic vegetable matter compost. Chemical farming is the death of us all. 😥

Not sure this is all relevant yet for the older generations who always "ate well" (fresh, organic, no seed oils, no packaged foods, no sugar, wheat, white rice, juice, margarine, crisco etc.) But the milleniums and younger folks will definately have health problems because they began life based on food grown in depleated soil. If we don't solve the soil problem immediately our grand children will have serious chronic diseases...

What is the difference between self-pollinating HTB (Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat) and common Buckwheat? Amaranth? Einkorn? Any recommended sources.. Angelica Mill vs Bob Red Mill? Regarding how the Cafestol oil in coffee can raise cholesterol (FGF 15 / farsenoid receptor X), is it possible that it's this same mechanism that makes coffee healthy?

I felt my best ever the summers on MV living on a regenerative farm and eating primarily dirty veggies- we need to speak of the importance of the shikmate pathway bacteria uses to transport nutrients from soil to plants & through our bodies-which biologically dense aggregate soil has, and glyphosate destroys as it kills bacteria.

If you go to a functional medicine / alternative medicine doc you should have no trouble getting a fasting insulin level. If your doc says he doesnt know how to interpret it tell him to look at the normal range which should be on the lab slip. OPTIMAL level is less than 5. If your level is high but fasting blood sugar is normal you may be pre diabetic .In that case you need to cut the sugar/ refined carbs in your diet.

Recently I was reviewing the results of my SpectraCell lipoprotein test (similar to NMR) with my doctor. I was able to obtain the test on my own without a doctor's requisition. I explained to my doctor that although my basic cholesterol and LDL seem high, my advanced test revealed just a modestly high total particle number but with a relatively low number of the more "dangerous" small LDL particles, and hence my risk is likely low He responded to my mini-analysis simply by saying, "We're not there yet."

@@evab2132 Most LDL analysis tests are called NMR tests. SpectraCell calls theirs the "LPP+" test. It's somewhat more expensive but the panel does include quite a few other very useful tests included in their price, including fasting insulin, hs-CRP, Lp(a), homocysteine and more.

Foods that are raised in/on good soil, with clean water, enough sunlight, and fresh eating with minimal processing: will always help those who choose them live longer and in better health. Foods that are highly processed, heavily preserved, raised in/on poor soil, with polluted water and chemical pesticides: will always hurt those who settle for them. Supplements can help make up for those things the later "foods" fail to bring, but detoxing HAS to happen, somehow, to help remove the chemicals and bad minerals that block good nutrition's cellular benefits.

Genetics have to carry such a huge strength in life, but I was wondering, does a hectically healthy food choice in childhood maybe carry you all the way through? My Mom is 97, never had an opperation, doesnt see Drs, never says no to 1 but seldom says yes to 2 of anything bad, takes no supplements eats well, walks with a stick only for in- case, has developed mild dementia since her hearing has become so bad and now has catteracts... she is besides her ears how we would all like to age, we were poor at so.e stages of our lives but she grew up.on home grown vegies, home made sour dough bread etc etc she takes no extra supplements and has 1 glass of white wine( migraines as a young woman allerted her to an intollerance of red) every night... none of her children are as healthy so this is the reason I am asking about the foundational nutrition.

Thanks for this but biochemical individuality is not a new concept. You may be deficient or tend to be deficient in certain nutrients that I am not. Some people may tend to be deficient in vitamins b and c, the water-soluble vitamins, the excretion of which may be accelerated by sugar, alcohol, tobacco, and wheat.
