I feel like the reason I like this beta world series is that it feels so quiet and simple, where most Minecraft youtubers are trying to have the next big epic project where they're either farming millions of item per hour or building yet another mega base, starting a war on their server, etc. Your world is just Minecraft at its core, its simplest, just a player in the world, creating lots of things and making the world feel more lived in.

Pretty much exactly how I like to play the game, though on newer versions. I like just how quiet and simple the game can be, and I'm not really one for building like huge things that require millions of items

I remember making HUUUGE cactus farms in beta, and it felt awesome. I especially loved that the chests were a full block, so it was extremely satisfying to store all the cacti in the wall or even a floor of chests, which is impossible to do with the newer minecraft versions.

This kind of series is a breath of fresh air amongst a sea of *WOW* and *BIG AND EXCITING* youtube videos. The fact that the version is reflective of the style of the video makes it all the more enjoyable. I am playing on a realm with friends right now in 1.19, but I am restricting my builds to use b1.7 blocks. I really like the style of my builds because of this. Keep up the amazing work and thanks for the inspiration!

This series really hit the spot for me, that cozy and relaxing gameplay that now it's retro style lol. This is so much like the Minecraft videos I used to watch back in 2012, just a player shaping the world around them and letting their imagination take over, it's really nice to see recent videos in this format. I also enjoy the more fast paced and EPIC!!1 style videos made in recent versions, but I tend to get too overwhelmed with those at times, so it's good to have another sort of Minecraft channel to watch when I want something more chill.

Another great video, I really like that miner's guild building, especially that roof door. The cave adventure was awesome, mining, explosions, lots of diamonds, lots of fighting with some close call moments, brand new skeleton spawner. Really enjoyed it man. When it comes to the mob farms I personally don't like making them, it takes a lot of resources, time and planning and the grind itself is boring as hell. Though I guess something like this would fit the alchemists guild, hopefully you won't actually need to use it if you do decide to build it. I also prefer to gather all resources in the "natural" way, it gives purpose to fighting mobs , which would otherwise just be a minor annoyance to be dealt with just for the sake of convenience instead of trying to obtain something in return for the effort. I hope you will keep having fun with the game and uploading world update videos in the future, even if irregularly. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I think we're on the same page in terms of mob farms. They're kinda interesting but I think they do take away from the experience in a certain way.

Watching this simple Minecraft 1.7.3 beta video about making a Miner's guild building and then going into the mines to go cave exploring was an absolute delight for me. Sat down to watch this with some snacks and a cup of tea. Not gonna lie, it makes me wanna go back to playing beta 1.7.3 and see if I could build a kingdom of my own. I low key miss the moments of how you'd have to use a lot of your imagination when it came to building with such a limited choice in building blocks. :) Such cosy Minecraft vibes, I absolutely love this! Thanks for this!

Great stuff! Glad that you were lucky to record the moment you found the dungeon. Must have felt nice to know you were recording the evidence haha. As always excited for the upcoming updates. Edit: about the gunpowder, go for what makes you feel better. Making a farm is always helpful if you need a large amount of a specific resource. Gunpowder farms make sense in a world where miners depend on TNT to work, so lore-wise it wouldn't be a problem. In my worlds, I try to create actual buildings/structures around farms, so they fit better in the environment. Imo, go for it.

I totally get what you mean about waiting until you've run out of things to do before making spawn farms, because it might be kind of forced/foreign in terms of the worldbuilding storytelling of your world? What if you had like a wizards guild, some type of dark magic residence or cathedral.. graveyard etc where dark magic is performed under the floorboards like a ritual area these spawners take place? Raising the dead to collect flesh, bones, stuff they need for potions and whatnot.. super creepy I think would be a fun idea to fit with the spooky theme old mc does have (charmingly) Love the series.

Hey! I have a suggestion for the open space behind the guild. Back in the day guilds used to have patrons, a saint of sorts that gave them good luck. That little circle underneath the tree seems like a great place for an altar, maybe in the style like Skyrim's outdoor altars? Also, your videos give me 2010 vibes. The nostalgia is very real :)

Lovely building for the miners' guild! Maybe a big smokestack would've been more appropriate than a simple chimney, since they'll need to smelt all the ores that they find. It would also help shift the tone of the build from a "cottage-like" to a more industrial style, as you said you wanted. I'm really happy to have found this channel. Back in the day I used to watch every video of kurtjmac's older series, like the first season of Far Lands Or Bust or Combat Canyon... This has a lot of the same vibes and I can't believe how much I missed them. I might even go diving through my old hard drives for my own Beta 1.7.3 worlds, which no living being has visited since early 2012!

Thank you for sharing your Beta world with the world. It's always nice seeing more great content come into this community and help people recognize the charm of playing older versions of the game. While this may just be a personal thing as nobody seems to have pointed it out yet - the black bars on the edges of the video were a bit unseemly. I believe this has to do with the game window not matching a 16:9 pixel resolution. My suggestion is save a screenshot of the Minecraft window when it is in a 16:9 resolution, then use that as a template for future resizing. Basically, you place the Minecraft window over the screenshot so it matches. This should eliminate the black bars, if you wish to do so.

Despite the fact that in the current versions of the game it has become much easier to mine blocks for buildings in almost unlimited quantities, the spirit of creativity has been lost. As one KZbinr said: "If Minecraft used to be like carefree childhood, now it has grown up and the players began to rush to get a bed, get diamonds, defeat the dragon as quickly as possible". Thanks to you, we remember that Minecraft is not a game for exploring what the developers have already conceived, but for creativity and creating your own adventures.

Looking at this, it sparks absolutely different feeling than i have in newer versions of minecraft. More personal, these worlds are more live, yet empty. How to describe this? I dont know. Today i installed minecraft beta 1.8.1. Told that to one of my old friends from childhood. And we decided, that maybe we should somehow start server just for us and play, agin. I have old, more than decade old piece of world. Tiny fraction of memory we still keep like tiny treasure. So, i think beta 1.7.3 is ideal for that. Time to build new world. From that little fraction of world we were able to save from past. Thank you for starting that nostalgy in me and that little spark of good old times.

awesome update vid, really enjoying your stuff ! i'm always debating on whether or not to include mob farms in my worlds. i think making grinders using spawners makes sense bc that's an intended mechanic, but abusing mechanics to make mob farms always feels wrong. i like your idea of tying it into the world's lore with magic or some such to be the justification. that sweet sweet gunpowder is too hard to resist. keep it up !

Loving the recent world updates!! You did an excellent job furnishing the interior of your Miner's Guild hall. Definitely gotta improve my own interiors haha. I can't believe you found a spawner practically as soon as you went down either! Hopefully that bodes well for your overall luck in this area. Excited to see how this world develops now that you're an OFFICIAL Minecraft KZbinr ;) Do you have any lore planned for this world? Maybe in-world explanations for the different language themes of each area? Either way, loving it and so looking forward to more!!

Thanks for stopping by! I don’t really have much lore so far. The names and language themes were really just made on a whim. But I sorta imagine that Bastion Castletown is the main power in the world. Lumbridge may or may not be a vassal of them. And then Zwielicht is an independent town that trades with the others.
