You know, this interaction made me wonder. We assume that Blue had a closer relationship with Pink - but what if the reverse is true? Suppose Yellow became fixated on her colonies, her war machine, her technology, AFTER Pink's "Shattering?" And Blue was the more authoritarian, ruthless ruler? Then, as Blue retreats into her own grief, White remains on Homeworld, Yellow is forced to become pretty much the Sole Ruler of the Gem Empire by herself, becoming the cold, aggressive dispassionate administrator out of necessity? Maybe Blue only became emotional, empathetic, and gentle and softspoken after the fact? Maybe it was the other way around when Pink was young.

Benjamin Lowe Some flashbacks reveal that blue was always the one closer and more lenient with pink. There was a flashback where blue says that she was the one that allowed pink to bring in those rainbow centipedes into the ball room after pink asked. Also, blue said “I won’t let you out this time unless you apologize” when steven was locked for fusing with connie which shows blue was the one letting her out or who knows how long she would have stayed. Finally, White says this about blue “Her impurities absorb all the warmth in her colour. She thinks she needs you pink” to steven. The warmth here being pink.

True. I was one of those who liked the twist. It made sense for her to hide everything and start a new life. Shattering herself was a last resort, or even the rebellion for that matter. She tried to beg, so the Diamonds would leave Earth alone but it didn't work. So she started a rebellion. Which was probably supposed to scare them into giving up Earth as a colony, but they didn't care. They told her to just 'smile and wave'. That was when she knew she had to shatter herself and make them scared of Rose Quartz and the Crystal Gems. That was her only choice. And keeping it a secret as well. The less Gems know, the better. If some of them found out she was a Diamond early on, they'd probably be with her with some convincing. But then, there's the problem of it not being a secret anymore. If she had told them later, the word would reach the Diamond sooner or later, possibly endangering Earth again and this time, she can't just use Rose to shatter her yet again. She did want to start a new life, so of course she had to lie.
