And for 50 cents on the dollar too? I, as well as so many Flyers fans wanted to know WHY we just made this crazy trade and now I feel like I completely understand. I do not think the Flyers management were attacking his character at all, simply stating that they were being ghosted by Gauthier's camp. They wanted him, and we as fans all wanted him. As a Flyers fan, they HAD to be honest with the fans. Most of the fan base had lost all trust in the organization starting with the Richards/Carter disaster and snowballing up until this new regime. Jonesy and Danny are huge names in this city and they’ve put an emphasis on building back trust with the fans. We all watched Gauthier the last two weeks knowing he’d be here soon. They had to be transparent. The team broadcasters broke the news in the middle of a rivalry game and had the same shocked reaction as the fans. Danny went out of his way to say they tried to protect the kid for months hoping he’d change his mind. He didn’t and had to pull the trigger with the player at peak value. They’d have no credibility with some BS excuse and they know it.

If marner/matthews demanded a trade before they played a game and the leafs traded him for jacob chychrun I promise the leafs would have addressed it similarly. The NHL should make the kids drafted be under contract for 3 years before they can have any chance to go somewhere else. They shouldn't have any choices. Draft capital is very important to teams, and that's like giving away a draft pick, which should NOT be allowed to happen. As far as the Flyers go... No one in the organization said anything bad about the kid. And... the kid should have said I can sit down with you AFTER the tournament. You can just tell your representatives to tell the Flyers, every time they call, that you don't want to play with them. SOMEONE should at least explain why. I understand, Bryan, that you HATE the Flyers... but they didn't do anything wrong.
@richardprescott59394 ай бұрын
The Owners had a chance to put that into their contract. Instead they chose to tie money to revenues and get cost certainty. The owners chose paying less in total salaries vs. having security in their "Draft Capital". I don't care one way or the other. He doesn't want to play for Philly. He may have a great reason or no reason. The Flyers had the ability to force him to graduate or to sign with them. They didn't have the guts to do it.

I'd rather see this passion from the team than some cookie cutter PR bullshit. First and foremost, the least any team/organisation can do is have some level of transparency to the fans. As a lifelong Flyers fan, the Flyers brass had to give the fans an explanation why they traded our #2 prospect. You have to understand, Comcast cleaned house this summer as CEO Scott resigned, VP Camillo resigned and GM Fletcher was fired. The team won 1 playoff round in the past decade, as they were a punchline compared to the Phillies, Eagles and Sixers. They had the lowest overall attendance last year since 1971-72 season. The organization hit rock bottom last year. That’s why the Flyers brass all came out last night as this is the biggest trade since they traded Carter/Richards in 2011. In saying all that, I think Gauthier wanted out because he and Flyers had philosophical differences. He wanted to play Center, and Briere looked at him as a winger. He wanted to play for the Flyers last spring and they opted for him to play another year in College. He wants to get paid and Flyers didn’t want to start his rookie contract at the beginning of the rebuild. I think Briere miscalculated and should have obliged and signed him last year. You don’t want to play a game of chicken with NCAA players cause they actually have some leverage.

I don't understand why this one guy said the Flyers front office trashed this kid, they didn't. They absolutely told the truth. It's their right to defend the organization. People seem to forget that Daniel Briere and Kieth Jones weren't running the front office until around March of 2023. Chuck Fletcher was the GM who was the one responsible for drafting Cutter Gauthier in July of 2022's NHL Entry Draft. He was fired on March 10th of 2023. So what was or wasn't said to Fletcher prior to the Flyers drafting Cutter by the Gauthier camp who knows? Maybe that's a question better left for the folks in the hockey media to ask Chuck Fletcher and not Danny Briere, who at the time was named Special Assistant to the General Manager part way through the 2021-2022 season after being VP of the day to day hockey operations for the Flyers ECHL Maine Mariners since the 2017-2018 season. That's where these questions should go to, the former GM.

Give me a break that briere, etc. acted incorrectly. Most other gms would do the same thing to explain to your fan base why this prospect is not coming here. They tried to change the kids mind and he didn’t want it so f*** him. If this happened to your team, bet the same stuff would be occur. Not mgmts. fault.

funny how when cutter does it he is a bad character piece of crap but when mitchkov does it its ok and he is a special player. whatever. they are kids and its their choice. flyers seem like sour grapes. you should have played the kid last year and then you wouldnt be here.

Who cares. Remarks by these clowns just perpetuates any of the issues, good or bad, floating around the media. These guys are jokes, not journalists.

Guy on the left sucks so bad. These guys have no clue, o dog is the only one with some sort of logic. This is not a Lindros situation, not even close. Cutter just seems like an immature, soft and entitled brat. The past year is just proof of his character. Props to the flyers on this whole situation.

You suck for being too biased to see what’s really going on
