I didn't mind the screws showing but this was a good "fix".

No you didn't do it wrong, but if it can be made better you are the man for the job.I wouldn't mind the screws on an outside table.

It all depends on the aesthetics you are after. The screws exposed perfectly aligned is fine. So is plugging it. All personal preference.

Probably still wrong. I think I see a ring/gap around your plugs. Plug cutters like this usually make a taper cut. I think you are putting the plugs in, upside down. Yes that is the only way to have the grain show. You need the style plug cutter that only cuts a circle and does not taper the top.

No you didn't do it wrong. It was an outside table, made to stand up to weather as it happens. But, there will always be someone "picking fly poop out of black pepper" in an attempt to create the illusion of flaws where none exists. However, you have created an option for the occasional "fly poop pepper picker" to add value($$$) to such a project. So well done! I suspect you added at least $200 , perhaps more, to the price of this custom table. You've also made it clear that "fly poop pepper pickers" are needed in this world! Thank you for the creative solutions you provide!!!! As us old swabbies would say, "Bravo Zulu"!!!

Mr Wes, what can I use to make sure my blade is accurate, my cuts are squared, etc. I have purchased so many gauges and angles, manual and digital (on the cheaper side), I’m ready to invest in a good, sturdy, accurate solution. Help please!

The screws showing is also a design in it self...they are in straight lines...well done. Will use bronze or silver or gold screws. 🎉

Hey Wes, just an idea when cutting off your plugs, you can put a piece of blue painters tape over them before you cut them loose this keeps them all nice and tidy until the cut is finished. Love all your videos!

Sure hope they stay in place with no adhesive? I prefer the screw showing plus more holding pressure! Stay safe Wes.

I think the plugs will help protect the screws from outside weather. Would be interesting to see how the table looks after being outside in elements after a few years.

I think, if you use more screws from the bottom, they _will_ hold.

I have left screws exposed, and also used plugs using Trex. IMO, the screws were fine on this table. They are color matched for a reason, and I actually liked the look better in this application. I use plugs around deck boarders, where hidden fasteners can't be used. They are far from invisible, but are less noticeable when your eyes are 5-6 feet above the deck. Also, the handrails cover many of them. When sitting at this table they are right in front of your eyes, and they look like... well, plugs. I'd have left the screws as they were, but that's personal preference. For those asking about glue: No. The plugs are tight and won't come out on their own. To remove them they have to be drilled out.
