Another thing to consider when debating supporters of same-sex couplings/marriage within the church is the fact that they would say that Christ said x because he was a man of his time is blasphemy on it's face and we shouldn't be afriad to accuse them of it when they do so. To suggest that something Christ said is in any regard wrong or only true in that time suggests imperfection on the part of God who is perfect by his divine nature. If someone says something that contradicts Christ, they are contradicting God because Christ is the Second person of Trinity which means he is God and God cannot err, and if you contradict God you are wrong period. And if any man says he knows more than God he is either insane or a liar and should be treated in the way which you would treat either one of those.

Let’s look at some basic fundamental facts based on extensive research & ongoing R&D. During fetal development a verity of biochemical agents are introduced which determine the development of the fetus. Research has shown that major agents such as testosterone & estrogen & a host of others agents determine size, weight, hair color, eye color & sexuality along with a host of other traits. Variations in the amount & timing of the introduction of these agents have a major effect in development. The fetus is a passive participant & has no influence in these matters. Sexuality, for example, & all other secondary traits are thus given to us. Well, this begs the question, is homosexuality a sin since there is no choice offered. The fetus has no willful acceptance. However, if your religion or belief system states that it is a sin, then there can be no discussion. These are the rules based on this system’s dogma. If you accept this system, you must accept the rules. Facts are irrelevant. This is your only choice which doesn’t include options & exceptions. Rules are rules! If, however, you are in a belief system based on logic, reason, observation & common sense, & no reliance on spirituality or religion, the conclusion is totally different. Replacing ancient religion & mythology & superstition with reason leads to another conclusion. Leaving religions that use condemnation & ridicule for control, can be the first step in becoming a true human being minus any imposed or fabricated guilt. There exist many variations of human sexual expression as well in the animal kingdom. When you leave various ancient religious beliefs behind & chose knowledge based in research, you can see & understand the true nature of humanity. You leave ignorance, hatred, & prejudice behind. Father Martin's rhetorical style reminds me of Original Temptation to Eve: Now the serpent ... said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Father Martin undermines morality by instantiating doubt about morality by seemingly conflating obsolete dietary or ritual laws with eternal moral laws in order to undermine them by juxtaposing what appears to be ridiculous with what is licit and moral. In other words, it's a nuanced straw-man argument. Exaggerate the truth of morality by adding to it what we know to be untenable. Then attack this exaggeration and seem to win. Brian sees right through this and so do many at least subconsciously.

Sincere question here- if you believe the Bible explicitly condemns homosexuality and that only men and women can be married together, what about individuals who are born intersexed, with both male and female genitalia? Also, what about the genetic condition in which an individual looks female, normally extra feminine, but in adulthood, finds out they are genetically male? Those things do occur. I’m struggling with what parts of the Bible are literal and what are metaphors. Also, gay marriage would be illegal back then. All sex outside of marriage is a sin. So is it possible that the sinful part of homosexuality is simply the act of fornication? And also, the Bible EXPLICITLY states unnatural relationships are sinful. Given that people are attracted to the same sex by their own nature (how the brain is wired), would that mean ALL relationships are sinful for them? Seems harsh TBH. Nobody wants to speak seriously about this.

This is a good video, and I agree with your conclusion, but it isn’t what I was expecting. What I was expecting was for you to cite Romans 1:26-27, which refers to homosexual relationships as “dishonorable passions.” Maybe Jesus didn’t directly state “homosexuality is a sin” during His 30-ish years as a man, but He communicates through others such as Paul, Moses, etc. There’s a reason that the Bible is more than just the four gospels.

🤺☦️🇷🇺Jesus said He came to fulfil the old testament and not change it, and that not even one letter of the word of God can be changed ever, and so the new testament never changed and contradicted the old one, only expended it in different forms and manifestations for the gentiles who were not confined by God to the specific laws that Jews were obliged to keep, but THOSE basic tenants, of marriage, sexual conduct etc. are foundational for ALL mankind, since the time of Adam to Noah's sons, and anyone who doesn't understand those simple basic foundations can never call himself a Christian. knowledge If you are wondering about the question of whether your sexuality is a sin or not, I welcome you to consider the following thoughts for clarification. In the book Gay Straight & the Reason Why by Simon Levay PhD, explanations regarding this aspect of humanity are clearly explained & is based on research. While I am not gay, I highly recommend this book & the numerous articles. Being gay is no more of a sin than having red hair. They are both determined by genetics & clearly not a sin. Here's this up front, read through the whole thing, I'm wanting a genuine response at the end, please. Doesn't the old testament say that if a man Rapes a woman that he must marry her and then pay the father off? Quite the set of rules. I'm bisexual. I've had male and female partners. I'm also a conservative, i was baptized as a Christian. Then I read the old testament, god comes off as a child throwing tantrums to get his way, and it baffled me that my all loving God would do such horrid things. I lost my faith and found a new one in Hellenism and philosophy. Lately I've been struggling with it and wanted to believe in God again, so i started looking at videos to help me. Its videos like these that push me further away. Why would our all loving God make ME this way then SHUN ME? Why would he love me but hate me? Why make me this way if i'm apparently damned from the start? Why would a God that loves me force these feelings onto me and then tell me i'm wrong? Explain that to me please, help me see the light here, clear up the confusion, and the doubt.
@02saurus6 ай бұрын
Hello Theprusian, I read your message and I would like to reply. Sorry my English is not perfect, I am from the Netherlands. I am also bisexual and I recognized myself in your situation. I know how difficult the struggle with faith and sexuality is. Not many people can empathize with homosexuals, and they make wrong comments. I read a lot of hate comments on messages posted by gay Christians. It's almost impossible to save LGBTIs if you make wrong comments. It seems that many straight Christians hate gay Christians, and for that reason make wrong comments, they have no battle with sexuality in their lives and have no compassion. Some homosexuals will probably leave the Christian life after reading these negative comments. Don't make your choice based on homophobic comments. These people who post homophobic comments cannot empathize with the struggle that homosexuals have. It's not easy, but reject the frustrations of these negative comments. Ignore these negative comments, and do not pay attention to these messages. Forgive these people who post these messages, and reject hatred if you are Christian. Love your enemies is what God asks of us. (Matthew 5:44 & Matthew 6:14) Love God above all and your neighbor as yourself, think about why you post texts. (Matthew 22:39 & 1 John 3:15) Theprusian, I also sometimes feel frustrated when it comes to my sexuality and faith. I see so many gay christians struggling with their sexuality, It makes me sad. It is important to know that time is short because the return of Jesus Christ is very soon. It is also important to make the right choice and set priorities. There are people who have doubts. Is sex before marriage a sin, is homosexuality a sin? They have these questions because they do not believe the scriptures and interpret them differently. It is understandable, there are homoseksuals who find it difficult to give up their gay lifestyle. People are so beautiful and perfect made by God, It is understandable that you can find people of your own gender beautiful and fall in love. You will have to fight when you get thoughts that become between you and God. (James 4:7) If you decide to fight, it is important to know that the battle takes place in the mind. Your lustful thoughts, thoughts in the flesh can stand between God and you. I want you to know that after the fall into sin, humanity has entered mortal flesh. It is important to know, there are no struggles in heaven, we no longer struggle in the flesh. Because, we receive a new glorified body, we no longer live in the flesh in heaven. We no longer have a body of flesh and blood. (1 Corinthians 15:44 - 1 Corinthians 15:50 - 2 Corinthians 5:1-6 KJV) It is important to make the right choice be saved. It is a choice between eternal life and death. Be willing to give up your life to receive eternal life. (Lucas 9:23-24) We are not destined for this earthly life, this world is a temporary residence for humanity. It is important to be ready on time for the second coming of Jesus Christ, there is not much time left, Jesus' second coming is very close. Stay strong, believe in yourself! Jesus return is near Love you 🩷 ✝️ 🙏

Actually, Jesus DOES condemn the practice. The Greek word for “fornication” or “sexual immorality” (depending on the translation) is “porneia,” which encompasses any sexual practice between people not married to each other, which would by default include homosexual practice. Jesus uses the word “porneia” in the gospels, meaning He addressed the issue, even if it was not as directly as other sins. I’d also like to point out that, if we’re going to go down the “Jesus didn’t say it” road, that Jesus didn’t specifically address rape or incest either. So according to the logic of Martiin, rape and incest are also okay. And finally, it is also a subtle jab at the authority of St. Paul’s apostolic letters, as the issue is also addressed in Romans 1, I Corinthians 6, and I Timothy 1.

The Pharisees were specifically asking about marriage and divorce. “…and become one flesh” could be a reference to bearing children. He wasn’t asked or speaking about sexuality. Additionally, the vast majority of practicing Jews do not struggle with the idea of “homosexuality being a sin” because they know the Old Testament story of Sodom and Gomorrah was a parable about being inhospitable to guests. It is a strict rule among Jews to always be courteous and welcoming. Everyone ignores the fact that the townspeople (including men AND women) banging on the door demanding to be given the guests to rape were also talking about the wife and the children-Western thought only dwells on the idea that some of the men in that crowd might have been intending to rape the husband alone. Complain about not reading the scripture a little more. lol

think before agreeing If you are wondering about the question of whether your sexuality is a sin or not, I welcome you to consider the following thoughts for clarification. There is nothing wrong with you. This is the true choice. Peace

@@hemiolaguy Ezekiel, speaking for God, says that Sodom had “pride, surfeit of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy” (16:49). In the very next verse though, the Lord says that “they [the inhabitants of Sodom] were haughty and did abominable things before me” (16:50). In context, the prophet is listing Sodom’s sins: pride, excess comforts, ignoring the needs of the poor, haughtiness, and the commission of “abominable things.” Since the writer of Leviticus defines homosexual activity as an “abomination” (Lev. 18:22), we can conclude that the “abominable things” Ezekiel mentions are homosexual acts.

I am a Christian who is working through same-sex attraction at the minute and for me the closer was very simple: ALL sex outside of marriage is not allowed. Marriage is between a man and a woman. That doesn't mean we don't have a role in God's kingdom - we do, we have ALL been called and we are able to reach people that some other people may not be able to, because they don't have a point of relating. Which is to say - our life experience gives us a deeper insight into the lives of people who have lived this life differently to others. When we become Christians, we are called to sacrifice our own identities - no matter what those identities are, and assume our new identities in Christ. That's why sacrificing the flesh is so hard! But Jesus Christ offers a life beyond all of this - and if it's your identity to live celibate and in service, then pray about that and take on THAT identity. There is no greater calling than to call others into God's kingdom, you will find more peace, purpose and passion in that then in all other things. 🙂

As a simple example, how does one understand whether the "seven days" of creation is meant to be interpretted literally as days or more from a poetic sense instead? I know that it is already possible to find exegesis that is approved by our Church, but I'm interested in knowing what makes a particular interpretation standout as the true interpretation.
