14:40 To elaborate: apparently all those years ago, John K actually tried to sue Matt and Trey over Mr. Hankey’s creation, accusing them of stealing the idea from a similar talking feces character he made for a series of comics. He supposedly got cocky and said he’d drop the lawsuit if the duo admitted to everyone that they liked Ren and Stimpy. However, Trey gave his honest thoughts that he just couldn’t get invested, saying the show had too much style and very little substance for people to actually connect with the plot or characters.

I would love to see Mr. Hankey’s return, even if his role is minor, because it’s like their christmas tradition. Never really knew people found him annoying but i guess it makes sense how some might not want the representation of Christmas to be a poece of shit. it would be a great comeback in south park

The Problem With A Poo is such a dumb episode, but the biggest reason for me is that for an episode literally titled after the Apu documentary, it has so little to do with the Apu controversy at all. My rewrite of the episode would've gone like this: New person comes to South Park for Christmas and sees Mr. Hankey doing Mr. Hankey things around town. The new person is offended and calls out the town for letting a literal piece of shit hop around. South Park is very reluctant to get rid of Mr. Hankey, who's become something of a mascot for the town, but the new person brings up solid arguments: Mr. Hankey carries dozens of diseases, he unwittingly makes a mess wherever he goes, and it's not a good look for the town if their mascot is a piece of poop. So they finally decide it's time to let Mr. Hankey go, and he is sent off with a fond farewell. You could even keep the ending gag of Mr. Hankey moving to Springfield because Springfield is such an ugly town anyway and a living piece of poop is just one more reason to avoid it. _Now_ the episode has subtext, and it doesn't rip down Mr. Hankey's character to do it.

Santa being a badass in South Park, rippin' and tearin' terrorists and demonic critters, is one of my favorite parts of the Christmas episodes and what lore exists on the show. That said, Mister Hankey works great as a subversion and spoof of cheery Christmas specials and stuff aimed at youngsters, while also being surprisingly lighthearted as well. (EDIT: Welllll, at least the first episode with him) This ought to be an interesting essay. Also, having Chinese takeout on Christmas is great. :9
