Great teaching. Learned much……The scripture is so plain and clear. As a former Oneness I admit I just never read the gospel in its context. In Mark 14:60-62 the high priest asked Jesus point blank if he was the Son of God. Jesus said plainly that He was; No God/Man, no second person foolishness, no God manifest in the flesh. Simply this; Jesus is the human Messiah sent by God the Father.

No, the Jews did not call Jesus God, eternal. Nor did Jesus, his disciples or church fathers. As scripture reads,”Though there are many so called gods, on earth and in heaven, there is only one God, the father,” who is eternal, who made and establish all other gods. Most famous being Lucifer the god of this earth. The trinity theory was put in as church doctrine 325 ad by a ungodly political ruler who was trying to unite pagans with Christians with the popular pagan belief of trinity, or three headed Gods. Yep, truth, not in Bible, and google will explain the well known and documented history of pagan trinity corruption of Christianity. As unexplainable, in comprehensible and confusing as the trinity may be... God is not the author of it. But Satan

The Scribes and Pharisees were blind. They, themselves said that God was their only Father. See John 8:40 Jesus said; "But now you are trying to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham never did such a thing. You are doing the works of your father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they declared. “Our only Father is God Himself.” See how blind they were? Jesus was only claiming the same thing. lol

Love this!!! There are a few other passages that I wish would have been addressed, but I really enjoyed this. I've never had a problem with Jesus being called "God," because it is clear that God does call men (those unto whom the word of God has come) "gods." Nor do I have a problem with the "deification" of man. But I have always had a problem with the terminology of the doctrine of the Trinity, particularly with the terminology which says that the Godhead consists of "three person," who are co-equal and co-eternal, etc; terminology that says that is was "God the Son" that was made flesh, rather than "the Word" that was made flesh in the man Jesus, making Him (the man) "the Son of God. The closest I could ever come to seeing God as "a Trinity," was in the way it was presented by Theophilus: The Father, His Word, and His Wisdom. Anyway, as to John 1 mirroring Genesis 1, I have come to see both accounts as having to do with the new creation and that which is created "in Christ." I think Genesis just happens to use the created universe (sun, moon, stars, etc) to teach deeper spiritual truths related to "Christ and the Church." Which is why the man in Gen 1 is a "them," male AND female. I think this speaks forward to "the man" and "the woman" that we see in the following chapters... a man FORMED "out of the dust of the ground," (not yet "created in the image of God") and a woman MADE from the rib of that man. But when the two were joined together as "one flesh," God bless THEM and called THEIR NAME "Adam." I believe the man "created in the image of God" in Gen 1 is "the LAST Adam," the man into whose image we are to be "conformed," through "the mystery" that is "Christ in you, the hope of glory." I think that is why the creation order changes between Gen 1 and Gen 2 and why it is AT THIS POINT ("Let US....") that we are introduced to "the LORD God." Again, Excellent presentation!
@zamiel3
@zamiel3 3 жыл бұрын
The creation order changes in Gen 1&2 because it is two completely *different* things being created. Gen 1 is about the creation of "everything". Gen 2 is about the creation of god's garden, and it's caretakers.

The Sabbath should still be kept today, it's one of the ten commandments. I believe the point Jesus was making is that it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. And healing someone is obviously doing good. The jews just wanted to find fault with Jesus and his followers, which is why they even accused the disciples of working on the Sabbath when they were "harvesting, threshing and winnowing" the wheat they had picked up while walking along. The jews were nit-picking and clutching at straws to pin anything on Jesus and His followers and Jesus called them out about it. Their overreaching rules and regulations made God's law totally unworkable.

Great presentation! Regarding the new creation in John I think there is a parallel going on throughout the gospel account with the building of the tabernacle. That's because the tabernacle was an object lesson to describe God's purpose in creation. Just as God wants to fill the earth with his glory so the tabernacle was filled with God's glory when it was finished (Ex. 40:34-35). It says Moses "finished the work" - another echo with John 17. Of course John starts off with reference to the word and the word that became flesh and "tabernacled" among us. The word here would be the pattern of the tabernacle (Exodus 25-31) and the word made flesh the building of it (Exodus 35-40). John then proceeds to take us on a journey through the tabernacle explaining how Jesus fulfills the various elements of it, all parallel to God's work in creation. The Sabbath is also an integral aspect of the tabernacle chapters (Exodus 31, 35).

@@gabriel3.16 There is nothing to explain away. A word is a thing, not a person. It is quite simple - in the beginning was God's word - his plan - and it became flesh - living - in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. Another way to say this is that the outworking of God's purpose was seen in Christ.

To spot the fallacy of these arguments we should not focus on explanations for which he is spending more time. Rather take a deep look at whatever he skips quickly. Eg. He quotes Philippians 2 and realise it contradicts his present argument and quickly skips it. You won't realise it unless you are sceptical. Also I revisited the video to find how he explains Jesus' defense of his right to work on Sabbath. I couldn't find it. I think he must have skipped with one or two sentences on it. Let me try to elaborate it in two points. 1. Does Jesus then mean all Jews can work on a Sabbath? Does it concur with old testament teachings and happenings? 2. God is working on a Sabbath is not a uncommon knowledge. How does it mean Jews also can work on a Sabbath? Eg. President works during lockdown. Does it mean all of us can work. Atleast can President's son go out and say to police, my father works today and so I can also work! Jews considered doing miracles/good works as works (prohibited on Sabbath). It was wrong. Elsewhere Jesus explains that. Here Jesus' argument is, even though you consider it as a work, I have the rights to work. If he need to talk about everyone's right, he could have simply told Our father is at work. No Jews would have got hurt or angry. Moreover in further defence of his statement he talks only about his specific authorities, from verse 19 onwards ( whatever the Father does the son [only Jesus here] does likewise)...... Do you still think he is taking about the rights of Jews in general? Yes, the rights/authority which Jesus have, they don't have. In Jesus' further statements, the authority then includes to judge, give life etc. Jews doesn't have any of these. Jews does have some rights/liberties which Jesus explains elsewhere. Reconsider this case when father and son is President. After claiming that in v17 and being accused, Jesus goes on to defend himself. You accuse me for doing these things and do not accept my claims. But I'm not doing it myself but only what the Father, whom you have understood as God, is doing. [It means they are now accusing God, whom they worship] He goes on to add to the claims - Judge, give life - which are prerogatives of God. Not only does he have the right to work on Sabbath but he does all the works of God and so deserve equal honor with God. You made lofty claims Jesus. What is the proof for these? Jesus answers this question, in the mind of Jews, from verse 31.... The proofs are too many and very binding that they cannot avoid but accept his claims. In John 10, after making similar claims [My Father, Father and I are one] he defends it with scripture. He says when scripture says 'I said you are gods' you accept its authority and don't accuse it of blasphemy but when I (sent from God and so have equal authority as scripture) 'say I am God's son' you accuse me of blasphemy. It reveals your hypocrisy. Even if my arguments are not convincing, ATLEAST believe me because of my works. I'm not expecting Unitarians to accept these explanations. Because Unitarian preachers are teaching that God can share his honor/glory with Messiah. So in their mind they easily accept that it was only given to Messiah which was not his own. But it is foreign idea to the Jews. God is transcendent being and he only deserve the right and have the ability to Judge (final judgement) and give life and share any equal status with God. There are more clearer and inescapable passages to prove the deity of Jesus for Unitarians. So I won't stress these arguments.

Nice presentation except for some "echoing' sound issues. I would only suggest that Christ/the Son as a separate, preexistent being, heavenly Messiah, is quite consonant with the Hebrew notion of the Shaliah/the Agent. Arius's view of the preexistent Son - the first created being - is helpful if we too view Him as Israel's Great Angel of Many Names. He bears God's image and holy Name, and has the capacity to execute God's judgment. He is the Malak Adonai 'par excellence'. His preexistence in no way precludes him from being "subcontracted" or hired by God to create the world, to be exalted by God as unique Son, to be God's earliest and express Image, to empty himself to be in the form of a crucified Servant, to represent his godly Principal, and to be raised up from death by God. The NT christologies permit belief in a merely human Jesus who is God's perfect representative, as well as a superhuman, preexistent, angelic Christ. In both views, Jesus is God's sent messenger. In the human view, like a prophet, Jesus is sent by, and from, God. In the angelic view, Jesus is the preexistent angel who is sent by, and from, God. In John's Gospel, he appears in both roles and functions.

Neither John nor Jesus claim that it was the Pharisees’ interpretation of the sabbath that Jesus broke. John says the Pharisees were angry with Jesus because “he breaking the sabbath” not because he was breaking an interpretation of the sabbath. Jesus never denied that either he or his disciples broke the sabbath. Jesus response was always to justify it.

@IsJesusGod.
@IsJesusGod. 3 жыл бұрын
John 20:28 The Correct Meaning. Berean Literal Bible Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" The SIMPLE fact, is that the whole sentence by Thomas: “My Lord (and) my God!” is grammatically plural. In this case the sentence by Thomas is NOT a (singular) sentence referring to one person alone. If Thomas was only addressing Jesus as GOD, he would have simply said: (My Lord God) WITHOUT adding in the Greek word (καὶ), for AND. The additional Greek word (καὶ, AND), makes Thomas's whole sentence a grammatically plural sentence. In other word's Thomas's plural sentence, was addressing TWO persons. How do we know Thomas's was addressing TWO persons, and not Jesus alone? The answer is in John 14:8 - 12. “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. Thomas finally BELIEVED and understood Jesus when Philip said to Jesus: The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. John 14:8 - 12. Notice above how Jesus taught God was in Him, and that's where Thomas must have understood that GOD was WITH Jesus and IN Jesus. Notice by Jesus own words: the Father who dwells in me does his works. SIMPLY NOTICE Jesus is NOT ALONE, but has the father GOD with Him. As GOD is WITH and IN His Son, this makes TWO PERSONS together and NOT ONE. And this could be precisely WHY Thomas uses the grammatically plural sentence by saying: “My Lord (AND) my God!” Why would Thomas forget GOD when Jesus never forgot His Father and always gave His Father the glory, and told the disciples countless times GOD was with Him and in Him? Thomas finally believed what Jesus taught that GOD the Father was in Jesus. That’s why Thomas said BOTH, My Lord (Jesus), and My GOD, (Father). I believe Thomas could well be addressing BOTH. Peter and St Paul often used the SAME grammatical PHRASE, by referring to BOTH Jesus and GOD the Father.
