How can you, as a responsible dog breeder, not go to the vet for a final check up before handing the pups over to their new families? That way you know 100% the pups are healthy, AND you can give the new owners a health certificate to show their pup is up to date with all their shots and healthy. I find it INCREDIBLY fishy that she waited nearly a month before taking her pups to the vet. To me, that tells me that the entire litter may have been sick, and the breeder just waited it out before doing the test.
@darlenefraser3022 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Any reputable breeder in my area has that final vet check.

It's the buyer's fault too. All of that translates into pricing. Responsible breeders sell expensive pups because they-indeed-take proper care of them and that costs money. Irresponsible sellfish people don't think of the well being of their pets, but on their wallets, so they buy cheap: puppy millers and idiots who don't know what they are doing. A responsible buyer would ask such things, and pay what they must to ensure a healty well loved dog. Otherwise, they should just go to a shelter and give a rescued dog a chance.

She basically expresses why she is eager to question the plaintiffs about this case lol. They believe the puppy got an illness in the care of the original owner yet the rest of the liter didn’t get sick. How is it hard to understand that? 🤣 Let’s say your child was hanging around with some friends and the next day he or she was diagnosed with a cold, you find out none of his or her friends got a cold and only your child did. Would you blame the other kids for giving your child the illness?

This should be interesting. I think it's fair to see if the other pups were ill at the time of adoption too. But I think there's a flaw in this because presumably, the couple didn't make those reviews about the lady until a good chunk of time after. And since the woman is claiming she had to rehome some of them for free after the fact due to those bad reviews, that means the pups could've been ill but were fine at the time of adoption. That's plenty of time for her to give them medicine or whatever so the new owners would be none the wiser. Something's not adding up.

And ive had single pups in a litter test positive and others be ok. It can be based on transit or contact or immunity. A lot of factors. People are commenting they want to get a dog from a breeder because they don’t want a dog with issues… then get a dog from a reputable breeder. One that has vaccination records. One that health tests the parents and puppies. One that purposefully selects each dog to breed in their program. One that has a contract. Because when you buy from a random person who doesn’t, you’re buying from a back yard breeder, which is contributing to all the dogs in the shelters. Yes, those puppies need homes too, but if you stop supporting those breeders, then you see less dogs in shelters. There’s a difference from a responsible breeder and a back yard breeder. Buy from a responsible breeder and support your local shelters. Adopt OR shop responsibly.

And at any point in that 45 minutes if you let that puppy out on grass with a viral load that puppy could have still gotten sick while in your care. Some puppies can experience symptoms of illness within minutes of exposure to viruses, bacteria, or toxins. This is why breeders require a vet check with a report be done before a refund or at least coverage of vet bills is done. In this time the breeder is able to contact other puppy homes to confirm health and have other puppies tested. If it would have been something that affected the whole litter and other pups were ill, then, and only then, would the breeder pay for vet bills or make refunds or even take the puppy back.

@@biff5856 poisons and toxins very often can affect a puppy in less than an hour. Poisons often affect grown dogs in as little as 30 minutes to up to 4 hours according to High Street Epping Vet Clinic. For instance metaldehyde slug bait can affect a dog in just a few minutes to max three hours depending on the size of the dog and how much they ingested (siting National Pesticide Information Center). Whereas something as minor as chocolate can take as long as 6 to 12 hours to take affect, again depending on the size of the dog and how much, but also the type of chocolate. Dark chocolate being the most potent and white chocolate being relatively harmless though still toxic. Antifreeze is another that shows, at least minor symptoms soon after ingesting, with dogs appearing drunk, wobbling on their feet, the dog may dribble or even become sick - i.e vomiting. However the dog may seem to recover after 12 hours but to unknowing owners, their dogs kidneys may stop working after 2-3 days, with the dog becoming very tired with loss of appetite, and may also develop fitting (I assume this needs seizures) or slip into a coma (siting The Kennel Clubs health and care section under antifreeze poisoning). Not all poisons act in minutes but there are a lot that do or have the ability to react withing 30 minutes to 1 hour. A vet with as many years as you have should be aware of this. I'm no vet but I do have experience in pet care and working with dogs and in jobs where we have to work with certain materials that can be harmful to small animals and children that can do serious damage within one hour. Too many dogs and cats become sick from ingesting a poison, toxin, or material and nothing was done because of the idea that these things take a while to react and that the owner has time and then bamn, dead puppy in less than hour.
