Yep there is a lot in ep1 but yes they are at an exo planet (basically a big moon). Can't wait for Khan's real daughter Door Chan to show up. A surprisingly deep character. You'd think she would be limited but the way she slides open speaks to the soul.

I'd point out a few interesting details for you to go back and examine. Rather than Angels, I'd make you think about the abilities and traits of the Disassembly Drones presented here. Their weaknesses - the sun, oil dependency, and even doors, - all paint an interesting picture. Taking their powers into account too - wings, regeneration, and the implications of Uzi at the very end, - can make things even more interesting. I'll point out too, these aren't spoilers, but all things present in this episode.

I never expected the events in this first episode to lead to Uzi's accidental villain arc, or her catching the robo-vampire virus. It leads to SUCH a weird coming-of-age story, though. The worldbuilding is intense in this show. Really makes you think about what it means to "_really_ be a monster." It's twisty and fun. >;3c

Odalia tried to murder a child, and is a controlling bitch…Khan’s obsessed with doors at best, and neglectful at worst…but in later episodes he does show that he at least cares for Uzi, mainly by tearing into her teacher for implying there’s something wrong with her

In Khan's defence: His action of leaving his daughter behind makes sense, if he picks up the gun, N would kill him, even though he did the smarter and less selfish choice, he still has guilt over leaving her to die. If you go through all the scenes with him in it, you can actually watch Khan’s character growth. In ep 2, we have him begin to question if he’s a terrible parent, before getting loud and defensive on Uzi’s behalf to compensate. And he chooses to stay at the student-teacher conference instead of building a door, saying Uzi was more important- directly contradicting last episode (the sticky note that said “doors > Uzi”). A choice which ultimately saves him. A neat thematic detail. In ep 3 he tries to do the parenting he didn’t before, and becomes overbearing, which only pushes Uzi away more. Then there’s that moment where he runs to help her in the prom. I also love the symbolism of it shutting in his face anyways. He’s turning things around, but he’s not fully there yet. And Uzi’s still shutting him out bc of it. Then by ep 4, he’s actually made it to where he needs to be. He talks openly with Uzi, gives her what she needs, telling her to be safe, and then steps back to let her do what she needs to do. And you can see Uzi sympathize for him when he admits he wasn’t what she or Nori needed. They’re finally able to connect a bit. We see less of him in ep 5, but there’s a great line that shows how far he’s come: when Doll says he “raised a good daughter”, Khan says Uzi was good “despite” him. Which, even if he wasn’t completely in the wrong in ep 1 (at least in his intentions) we know he was neglectful before and even publicly put Uzi down, without really realizing he was doing so. So the fact that he’s accepted that and is just… doing better now, because he can… it’s actually awesome. Another interesting thing from ep 4 is that apparently the door idea came from Nori. She then died. Which is probably why he’s overly obsessed with doors now and why he shut Uzi out- it was a trauma response. But because of it, he almost lost her, too. And he’s forced to actually face the past instead of violently repressing it. All of this, ofc, happening in the background, with only a few minutes of screen time. Glitch really is wild. They’ve done smth similar with most of the characters, especially N, J, and V.

I have a theory: you know how every disassembly drone wore a pilot hat? Well, I think the reason N has low self-esteem and replied to Uzi's question about the hat normally at first but eerily said "I ruined everything" before going on like that moment never happened is because these drones probably were running a flight vehicle (most likely, it's a rocket ship from Earth), and N caused the ship to, er, crash.

These series reminds me of an old playstation one video game called "Metal Arms: Glitch in the System". The designs is very original and the story is more entertaining than the video game but it does bring back a good bit of nostalgia for me having enjoyed playing that game. The game too had Worker droids but they were deliberately resisting the Military droids.

I didnt realize you had not seen these yet!!! Glad you found them! Big tip: watch liam vicker’s earlier animations before going further down the rabbit hole. There are a Lot of them in this same world that, without seeing them, you will not understand major plot points that are slowly being slipped in as the show has progressed, but, like in the background. Also, this show will be the most pause to review worthy show you have yet seen. There are basically No throwaway frames, always having some sort of unique secret going on. (A slow motion watch after normal speed is highly recomended)

To be fair, the "#1 Dad" mug wasn't from Uzi, it was from V back when she was a regular worker drone and Khan actually was a good father to her. And her betrayal was what led to him abandoning Uzi, he had too much PTSD and fear that she would turn out like V. He's really not such a bad dad once you know the backstory.

I just got into MD a few days ago and I feel like sh*t for ignoring this show despite being aware of this (I watched of TADC tho).
