This is one of the best, most complete screenplays ever...the structure, the character development, the payoffs, the humor, it's all so perfect (and was constantly being rewritten on the fly).

1) When McClane falls down the air shaft, the stuntman was supposed to catch the first vent opening, and missed. Through the powers of editing, McClane grabs the second one, but if you look at the footage of the stuntman falling, you'll notice that he was not able to do that. 2) Bruce Willis suffered permanent hearing loss in one ear from the shooting under the table.
@thoso19732 сағат бұрын
Also, Alan Rickman fires his prop gun close to his right ear when he discovers Holly's true identity. That's... not good, I think.

When they did the stunt where Hans falls off the building, they had Rickman suspended in air and was planning on dropping on 3 count. But the director told the crew to drop him on 2, so the look of fear on his face was authentic

The Nakatomi building is in reality the headquarters of 20th Century Fox, which had just been build at the time. As its fictional counterpart, it had many floors still unfinished, which were used for filming (mostly after hours). 20th Century Fox charged themselves rent for this.

I don't think we needed to have the "Powell redeems himself moment" because he was already so helpful to JOhn while he was inside. If Karl had been arrested, he could have gone to jail, and then in the inevitable sequel he might have been able to redeem himself by helping McClane against Simon Gruber in the 2nd sequel. That would have been cool to see. But its' just my brain painting what-if scenarios!

"Die Hard": Officer John McClane finds this song on the plane from NYC to California: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYqrnZh8e82ffM0 Bruce Willis is a very different Action movie hero. He isn't a muscle-bound Rambo type, has moments of Fear/Uncertainty/Introspection, takes damage, and is "dead man walking" by the last quarter of the movie. He's a working class dog, who rides in the FRONT seat of the limousine. As such, he's a favorite of men and women; yep I liked "John McClane" from the start;) Two (sorta) memes: "Christmas doesn't begin until Hans Gruber falls off the Nakatomi Plaza building." "Every time a KZbin viewer falls in love with 'Firefly,' a Fox TV executive falls off the Nakatomi Plaza building."

the "oh it's a Christmas move" started as joke on old IMDB message board..because of the Christmas music that was added late in production. In order to save money, the Studio filmed it at their home offices of Fox Plaza, in later November. By this time, Christmas decorations had already been put up in the building. They had no money or time to remove them, so they stayed. That's the only reason why people call this a Christmas movie. It's not:" Even the Bruce Willis, the Director, the original novelist, and Producers said "it's not a Christmas movie" But the most important reason: There's not a single mention of Christ, no cross, no crucifix , nothing, which a requirement for a Christ-mass movie. Because the it's a HOLY-day named after him. If people want to celebrate Christmas, that fine, but please QUIT EXCLUDING CHRIST from our stuff.
