It’s not just how much calcium you consume, it’s how much you absorb.

This presentation does not mention that countries with a high intake of dairy products, like North America and Scandinavia, also have the highest number of osteoporotic fractures. Nor is it mentioned that a high intake of calcium can cause cardiovascular complications. Finally, I think that a vitamin-enriched snack bar is a bad solution.

Perhaps in north America there are more fractures because we eat a 63 percent junk food diet here. I drink milk regularly and have great bones at 67. I think it's done me a lot of good.

@@LisaMurphy I never drunk milk and I’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis of the spine. Just about everyone wants to make milk the culprit.

Supplementing with calcium can cause cardiovascular issues - not calcium from diet.
@steph7614

North Americans don't exercise, don't go outdoors often (Vitamin D), so just because they drink milk doesn't mean they're getting adequate calcium or that they are absorbing it. The speaker did a great job emphasizing how challenging it is to actually EAT enough calcium every single day. Combine all that with high stress, which impairs absorption and bone deposition with busy work schedules and poor diet, you can clearly see why this is a problem.

Very good presentation. In light of latest developments reported by leading medico-nutrition experts, including cardiologists, the calcification of arteries and development of kidney stones, are to be avoided. Therefore, we need revisions in

When was this talk presented? Was mention of dark green veg discussed as calcium source?

Shouldn't Vitamin K2 be advocated to draw the vit D away from soft tissues (to avoid calcification of arteries and kidney stones) and direct into bones? Vit D also correlating with optimum immunity against viruses and reduces the inflammatory response which is why so many people with Covid who are Vit D deficient are becoming so ill and worse.

Great presentation! I couldn't agree more-prevention is definitely better than cure. When I noticed early symptoms of osteoporosis, I did my research and found that a calcium-rich diet and natural supplements like standardized hot water root extract Tongkat Ali helped me. Two years in, I haven't experienced any back pain. I recommend talking to health professionals before taking any supplements, as they may work differently for each person.

20.03 into this video, is Howard Morris really recommending cows milk as a good source of calcium? Some medical doctors strongly disagree.

Contd. From previous para.. RDI of Calcium, and Vit D, and perhaps inclusion of Vit K2 to remove extra deposits of Calcium in bones as advocated by some medical experts. It is to be noted Vit D consumption has increased among people after its immunity boosting properties, which have been reported in media. Regards!

Not to remove extra deposits of calcium from the bones. It is to get calcium into the bones.

Prevention is better duh! What about those that with bone loss? Stupid lecturing
@janetbrady6449
@janetbrady6449 Жыл бұрын
It is a lecture, not a medical diagnosis or care plan. I found it very useful as it has helped me understand the importance of Ca and how the 'Ca economy' works. I have improved my wrist BMD by taking Ca together with Vit D3 and Vit K2, aided by exercises geared towards increasing bone density, all prescribed by my holistic GP.

Who cares about astronauts
@anafrost4190
@anafrost4190 2 жыл бұрын
Ignorance evident. No need to personally care for astronauts but for the experiments they are able to conduct with plants, animals including insects, elements and the human body. Floating around without earth's gravity has shown damage to their bones, muscles and organs. They are put in regimes of forced exercise which has shown that they loose less mass, bone and muscles when forcefully using them such as on earth. Apparently you were unable to capture any knowledge from this valuable presentation.
