This is the first video I have ever heard an RD say how much they make. Thank you! Many people do not reveal how much they make, but when being informative, like this video, people really appreciate that. 😊

I watched this video as part of a homework assignment for one of my dietetics classes. I find that a lot of the people that are in my class have very similar backgrounds as you do. Thank you for posting t his video and being transparent with what life like for you in your profession.

This video was extremely helpful! If you do another Q&A, what master degree did you choose? Can you elaborate on the masters program that you went through?

Hi Laura! Your videos have been such an amazing resource for me throughout undergrad! Any who, I see that you have your masters. I am coming from an undergrad program that doesn’t have a nutrition program so I am planning to attend a coordinated masters program. Anyways, I am struggling to determine which schools I have a good chance of getting accepted into. Is there anyway that I can contact schools and ask for their admission stats? I have a 3.5 GPA and I will be taking the GRE soon. Sorry for the long comment, but your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi! The link below will take you to the internship page on eatright.org. It will give you the annual enrollment, and will also provide you with information on how to contact the programs. I recommend applying to at least 4 to 5 internships to increase the likelihood of getting accepted. You have a good GPA, so you're definitely off to a good start!

Thanks for the helpful videos! I'm in my second semester of college as a music major, but now looking to pursue a career in nutrition and wellness! Also, what would the difference be in majoring in biochemistry vs dietetics? Dr. Rhonda Patrick got her undergrad in biochem and seems to work more on the research side of nutrition. Would I still be able to work on the research side of nutrition with a dietetics degree?

Hi Andrew, If your goal is to work in research, you don't necessarily need your phd. I've done research as a previous job and got it published/accepted as an abstract at a national conference!

Hey laura.. thank you for your videos, you have answered a lot of my questions. However, I still have a couple of questions: One whats the difference in nutrition science and detection in-terms of careers. Second, how does one goes from undergrad to masters, i thought it had to be bachelors first. I am having tough time deciding which I want to do. And I finished my undergrad at a community collage with an associate. I've been putting it off for that reason, but I want to go back to it just need some help. ( hope that makes sense. ) Thank you!

Any tips for getting hired without experience? I'm graduating and applying for jobs, and a lot of them say they prefer applicants with a few years of experience! I'm also willing to take a PRN job. Do you think they're as selective with those?

I'm making a video today, and will elaborate more, but essentially being open to any time of job is important!!

Hey Laura, Thanks so much for doing these videos, they are extremely helpful! I've been watching your Q&A videos but I haven't come across the answers to this question. I plan on going for my masters after my 1,200 internship hours, do I have to do more internship for my masters, or do they count the 1,200 hours as going towards that? So, two internships or just one? Thank you :)!

Hi Laura, I'm new here and have never reached out to any students that are in the program, so I thought id give it a try in hopes that I get my question answered. Im currently enrolled in a community college and I'm not really that close to applying yet, but I wanted to still get information/guidance so that I'm aware. The Dietetic Program says that its 18 months, but I wanted to know if I can take 2 to 3 classes even though its 18 months. I'm not sure if its already a set schedule to take 8 or more, or if its really at your own pace. I saw a video on youtube of a student that is in the program (not the same one I mentioned) and she said that she goes in from 8-4pm while taking 8 courses. I know the program here in Colorado says that its 18 months, so is this program condensed, or can I go at my own pace and take fewer courses? If I do the program online, Can I go at my own pace even though its 18 months?

Thank you for the informative video! You mentioned that a few RDs recently left the hospital that you worked at. In your experience, would you say that clinical RDs have a high turnover rate or just certain workplaces such as yours?

Not related to your video really but since you’re a dietician with ED experience can you maybe explain why an ED treatment place would set a patients goal recovery weight to be at a weight that’s higher than the patient has weighed in her life? Higher by 10+pounds to be specific

Hi Elise, I'm not sure of the specifics of the situation, but goal weights are meant to be a healthy & attainable goal for the client. They should work with you to achieve a healthy weight, but at the same time, challenge you past your comfortable level! As I started gaining weight, I became more comfortable with being at the goal weight set for me. It's my current weight....

I’m in high school going into grade 11 and i was so interested in this career for the future, but I am very weak at chemistry, should I go ahead and take courses that would enroll me into a nutrition program at uni or should I do nothing?
