Hemp hearts, chia seeds, quinoa, amaranth, almonds and chic peas are my favorite. I don't think Soy is bad but it is very much GMOs (genetically modified) in the USA, so i prefer not to have it unless its organic. Thanks for the content.

People's obsession with protein is always unsubstantiated, our bodies use very little protein compared to carnivorous and omnovorous animals as we are carbohydrate fueled species, and while we can derive energy from fat and protein, the metabolization of such is more difficult for the body and therefore unpreferred, unless you're starving, or otherwise in a state of ketosis, which is a sickness by itself. This is why meat eaters suffer in the long run, decades later, while WFPB vegans thrive, free of health issues. Eat what we are suppose to eat, what makes us thrive, not what our primitive ancestors ate to survive in a harsh environment.

Interested to know what you think about Seitan. I make heaps for the family (we have it in pasta, lasagne, noodle dishes) and they love it. Also we eat loads of Quorn (shame that it isn't totally vegan though). Any thoughts on those two?

Hi Andrew, both are heavily processed food. You'd be better off sticking to whole foods like lentils and beans, plus whole grains like oats. All the best.

@@GlennMarshallnz yes, we eat lots of oats and beans too. The seitan is only processed in as so far as buying vital wheat gluten of the net, but I cook it myself with a ton of spices (and marmite) and no other nasties.

I think lentils and chickpeas are in the bean group. Small red beans, black beans, and adzuki beans, and others are good too. I count split peas as beans even if they are technically not. Also, I use oat groats instead of rice due to the arsenic in some rice.

I'm 6 minutes in and haven't heard you talk about bioavailability or digestability of these Protein in general, just to clarify I've been vegan myself for almost 5 years now, and started actually caring about my nutritions immensely over the last 2 years of that time, so my concerns with my body not getting enough or non-proper nutrition from not digesting all these (mostly cooked) protein sources has grown recently. Has anyone some experience or inside on this? Thanks.

If I get 7 out of 9 essential amino acids at the "correct" balanced level, but lysine and methionine each at only 60% of the proper balance, and this is what I get on an ongoing basis, does that mean the other 7 essential amino acids can only be utilized for protein at the 60% level?

Lol mostly what I eat is a base of lentils and quinoa with some spices. That with whatever frozen veggies we have in the freezer. The true question should be fiber given the sad diet.

Sadly, no mention of GMOs in soy. 90% of soy grown in the US, is genetically modified. So, to avoid GMOs, & glypsophate [Round Up] which is sprayed on GMO & non GMO crops [it's used on non GMO grain crops, to cause the plants to start dying, so they finish ripening all the grain seeds around the same time, so the harvesting can be done all at the same time] buy ORGANIC produce [fruits, nuts, seeds, veggies, etc.]
