In this video I explain the difference between "on time" and "in time" using several examples. Even advanced English learners sometimes get confused about this.

I can do this job well and on time. So I do it before deadline. - is it right? On time? If it is just before deadline I will use "in time"?
@EnglishwithMax
@EnglishwithMax 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think you can say that. However, it's more common to say something like: I can do this job and finish it on time. You could also say "finish it in time", if you mean you will finish it before the deadline.

thanks a lot for your excellent explaining but you said that '' in time ' = too late . is that mean if i need to take a bus at the bus station and i arrived there in time . does that mean i caught the bus or didn't. thanks much
@EnglishwithMax

I know it's a bit confusing ;). "In time" means "not too late". So if you arrived at the bus station in time, you caught the bus. In other words, you had enough time to catch the bus.

How about "on weekend or on a weekend"? 1)For example, you have to meet her on weekend or on a weekend. Another thing is "on tomorrow"? 2)For example, you need to submit the paper on tomorrow before 12 noon. Are those sentences number 1 and 2 correct?
@EnglishwithMax
@EnglishwithMax 4 жыл бұрын
1) You have to meet her on the weekend. (Sometimes we say "on a weekend", if we're not being specific about which weekend, but it's not very common.) 2) You need to submit the paper tomorrow before 12 noon. (We never say "on tomorrow".)

Do you hate your mother - in - law? You say: " Fortunately I remembered in time and left before she arrived". As for me, I am more of a " in time" person. Although I wake up early in the wee hours but I am not always on time to my work. I am always in time. We can miss a lot of good things in life if we are not punctual or accurate. So, let's always be on time. Thumbs up! Charts!
