It’s not my airport, but that’s a very familiar environment to a ground crew worker. I’ve got absolutely no intention of ever becoming any kind of pilot, but it’s interesting to learn about. How much every single airline pilot endures to fly each day.
@bertolyossa13675 ай бұрын
Very explicit. I am not a pilot, nor do I work in the airline industry, but the organigram and the roles came out so very clearly.

Mentor I have three questions? 1) Is it harder to land planes or is dealing with unexpected events with autopilot more 2) What is the next rank above you and when will you be getting it? What is your overall aim? 3) Can you do a video on what all the knobs and switches are in the cockpit. They are what I can never understand and no-one never explains them all. What do they all do? Thanks, the videos are "fantastic".
@mikoto7693 Жыл бұрын
Lmao, I’m not a pilot but the first question sounds situational. Landing seems like it’s the hardest part of flying but autopilot problems have taken down planes before. No idea about the second and oh boy the third is not a simple answer. You’re more likely to get more from generally learning what the different consoles do. I can walk you through that if you’re still curious but it would be rudimentary. Airplanes are complicated flying metal beasties.

Wow, so you started very very young and you got your licences in a very few time! You have all my respect, really!! Just wanted to tell you a couple of things: when you are 16 (as i am),in order to achieve your dreams and to grow up, you need some clear good examples "to put in front of you" and follow, and Petter...you are quickly becoming one of the main examples for me, in my life, to follow! You are actually exactly what i wanted to be in the future. Keep on the great job, and see you next video, Davide

Apologies if this has already been asked or has been covered on a video, but my question is this: When I've got my CPL/Frozen ATPL and I'm applying for jobs, what kind of a type rating do you need? Would you get a type rating based on what jobs you'd be applying for, or do airlines provide type-rating after a job has been offered? I'm confused as I could imagine you could waste thousands on a redundant type-rating.

Sounds like the airline is organised like the Royal Navy or other military.
@martintheiss7435 жыл бұрын
basically yes, but then you get into conversations about how to try to keep experienced captains either for chief (head trainer and overall aircraft type supervision) or perhaps what is called a "check captain" who ensures that all the flying pilots are examined once a year on their scheduled routes only to see if you are safe or should you be reported for a mistake or a concern which could be a safety issue. Take advantage of airlines who have the depth to have roles like these since they work very well in practice to improve safety and overall control of the firm.
@violaorulez6 жыл бұрын
Great video! One question: if you change the company (employer) do you still maintain your previois rank? Lets say that a 737 captain moved from company A to B. Will he/she be the captain of a 737 on day 1?
@2778P6 жыл бұрын
violaorulez most likely not as different airlines tend to have their own Standard Operating Procedures that a new pilot (to the company) would have to get used to before acting as a commander. Pilot ranks are not based entirely on an individual’s skill set, it’s mainly a reflection of how long they’ve been a part of a particular company; it goes hand in hand, however, that the longer a pilot has flown for a particular company, the more skilled they’ll tend to be.
@samuelwhaley66585 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. A disadvantage of being a pilot is that, when you switch airline, you lose all your seniority. However, depending in the airline, you may get promoted quicker (If yuu are flying the same aircraft).

Love your videos! Have watched all of them over the last week :) Suggestion for video, I see that it is often recommended to go for the Class 1 Medical before going all in on the training, reason being that it would be stupid to do all that training and then be stopped by the doctor at the end. What goes in to this medical check? Reason for asking is that I am considering a career change after having spent 10 years in IT. Closing in on 35 I am already going for the older part of the curve. Also having one case of "hitting the wall" in my history I wonder how this would affect my chances of getting a job. In one of your videos you said that we should envision what we wanted to get out of a pilot job, what kind of flying we would like to do, etc. I was wondering if you have any info on other kinds of pilot jobs other then pure line pilot. For me the dream would be something a bit smaller, either single or twin turboprop, or smaller jet like Embraer Phenom 300 or similar. Do you know how the market are for those jobs, any info to give? Keep up the good work!
@ThomasStenbakk9 жыл бұрын
+Mentour Pilot Thanks for the reply! I did watch your medical video, but just rewatched it to absorb it all :) I watched the "Worst place to be a pilot" a while back. Interesting flying for sure, but not exactly what I had in mind. I have been watching the KZbin channels of Steveo1kinevo and Guido Warnecke, and find what they do fascinating. Small to medium sized aircraft, mostly doing private transportation or ferry flights of corporate jets. Do you have any idea of how this market is in Europe? Hard market to get in to I imagine without any experience.

I really enjoy your videos, even though my connection to the airline industry is only as a passenger. I have a couple of questions which I hope you will answer. The first one is, who handles the communication with ATC, is it PF or PM? Secondly, do you think it's useful/educating for a student pilot to listen to ATC communications, as for instance the one on this site, www.flyradio.be, where one can listen to the communication and simultaneously view planes on the map?

Hey Mentour Can you explain the 1500 hours condition is it true or just a combined scam between authorities and institutions in order to get more money from student pilots ( Pay 2 Fly ) ? Most of airlines (low costs included ) wants applicants with 1500hrs or even 2000hrs for god sake where and how can pilots did have those conditions if all airlines want it. Something is missing and strange about that.
@midoom77738 жыл бұрын
+protossrock1 And they start to sell hours so it works for money diggers financial institutions schools airlines cutting costs by selling those hours pay to fly instead of a serious training ! It becomes all about money
