Unpopular opinion: DW2 Is actually my favorite game of the series even though it's one of the most hated. The only problem I have is how annoying it can get mid game. Going out, grinding levels, going back, evolving, going out leveling up, going back dna evolution, going out and repeating the same process. Over and over and over and over and over lol. That's my only problem. Aside from all of that, I do love the game, will always have a place in my heart.

Same, although DW3 is my fav of the trilogy and DW2 is at the bottom doesn't mean I hate the game. It has ridiculous amount of playable Digimon at the time that 1 and 3 can't even compared, on top of every moves voiced (tho in Japanese thus not matching with the text in English), killer OSTs (1 and 3 are also good too), roguelike dungeons that make things fresh everytime you enter, and the battle system that feels the most strategic of all 3 games. But the grind.... oh boi the grind.... I absolutely hate the level cap system and how it grow soooo little at the start making it tedious and not satisfying. Also the capture system with the dungeon design sometimes just not working out, like some room too small or placing the Digimon so close to the entrance you don't have time to gift them enough to catch it (Not to mention sometimes they can even flat out ignore your presents, what a waste, Pokeball this ain't).

I also love 2 the most... it's not as tedious as dw1 and I'd say it offers more freedom than dw3 in that if i see a Digimon i want i can get it and i love that... there's over 200 Digimon in the game and all of them r playable...i just wish it had some better endgame content so that I can just experiment with digivolutions... especially that sweet sweet omnimon i always wanted but couldn't get

I am shocked and yet happy that someone made video about this game's mechanics in 2021. Man, I remember rage quitting a few times cause I always hit the cap and never could figure out what to do next, until trying out dna digivolving like some older game faqs/gamewinners site would say to do. Here's hoping, as doubtful as it could be, that Bandai Namco looks into this style again! Maybe even a remake or a remaster to trim.

Thank you so much for this video, I used to ask my parents every week back in the early 2000's to rent this game from blockbuster, but unfortunately they only had 2 copies of the game and one of the discs was unreadable from how damaged it was. So I would always end up not getting the good copy. I was never able to beat the game growing up as I would always get stuck after getting metalgreymon / the disk not loading. I never understood the digivolution being a kid at the time. I recently took it upon myself to play the game again and beat it for my younger self and being 30 years old now I was still royally confused how Digivolution worked. This video is pure gold from the information you presented and how well you edited it in a very entertaining manner. I thank you so much for making it and uploading it here. I will be subscribing to you as I will continue my journey into Digimon world 3 after I complete 2 and I know who to come back to when I will need help. The best part of digimon to me is the digimon themselves. There are many different digimon with different powers and designs. My favorite type of digimon is the lop on line.I just think the brown bunny and it’s evolution line is neat.

As someone who spent an ungodly amount of hours into this game, the same stage + same stage DNA has a few exceptions. Some combinations of Champion + Ultimate can result in a Vademon (ultimate). Those of us from the modding community haven't really figured out why this occurs, maybe something is wrong with the games internal DNA table or quit possibly it's an issue of over/underflow swapping values somewhere

Hey, are there mods for digimon world 2 to make it more playable for modern day runs? Higher exp rates, faster animations, etc? I tried looking but I couldn't find anything but mods that made the game even harder.

@@RealKengeki What you are looking for is gameshark codes that make each battle worth one level up, it won’t speed up the animations but will give you the freedom to DNA digimon to your hearts content and create all sorts of sets. Also in terms of the mods that increase difficulty there are quite a lot of us who thought the base game was too easy, so we came to the consensus that the game need a higher difficulty similar to a New Game+. Do keep in mind that those mods were made with the idea that the person playing it already has a strong understanding of the base game and its battle mechanics.

I know a lot about Digimon World 2, but I've never heard about this before. I'm not even sure this Vademon exception is mentioned in the official guidebook I got when the game was new. It's possible that it's a bug (and it would be a really strange coincidence), but given that this is Vademon, it could be intentional. In Digimon World 1, Vademon was also the odd Ultimate level that was obtained differently from the rest of the Ultimates (and you could get him with literally any Champion level).

Thank you for the amazing video, and the epic remix of the OSTs beside the Pokecenter one 😅❤❤❤ But one note maybe a lot of players don't know about, in the domain where you fight Metalgreymon (Bios i guess) you can farm an infinite Metalgreymons if you are lucky enough by him joining you with only small heart from level D gifts. Just autopilot after you figt him then repeat till you satisfied.

I really love this game. I picked the virus digimon guard team and got myself demidevimon. and Im so frustrated that Im stuck with Icedevimon with horrible assist skill. but then im also grateful I got to recruit kunemon and dokunemon because kuwagamon's scissor claw is the move i used a lot for battling. I even use it as mega evolution. a single target def down move that can stack and pair it with mudfrigimon's armor coating, its an absolute unit

This is one of my most favorite games of all time that i STILL have not beaten. My very first playthrough i didnt know anything about how DNAing worked and i got all the way to blood knights with a lvl 13 Frigimon and Greymon that had been maxed for the longest time and metalgreymon that maxed at, i beleive, 29 or 30

Good tip for everyone in the comments: DNA Digivolution is the only way to get Veemon in this game and it's quite simple. Just combine any member of the Greymon family with basically anything with the -dramon suffix. The common choice is Greymon (Agumon with 0 DP) + Airdramon (Biyomon with 0 DP) but Cyclonemon is also easy to find. MOVE AND DIGIVOLUTION SPOILERS COMING UP By default, the line goes Veemon->Veedramon->AeroVeedramon->Phoenixmon. The champion and ultimate levels get moves that punish Counter Attacks, while Phoenixmon gets an Assist that fully heals anything on the field *including knocked out allies*. However, Veemon also gets its armor digivolutions. At DP 4+ Veemon becomes Flamedramon, Flamedramon becomes Raidramon with DP 6+, and at DP 8+ Raidramon goes into Imperialdramon with an all-target move called Mega Fire. If you don't hit the criteria of the next Armor Digimon, it slides back into the Veedramon line. My recommendation is that you work your way up to a DP 7 Biyomon, digivolve it up to Phoenixmon so that it gets the revival move, then combine it with a wild Greymon to get a fully prepped Veemon. If you went with Gold Hawks, this is very easy to get started; for everyone else, you'll need to wait a while.

Just want to say you single handily got me back into Digimon. I thought only the first game had anything deep and the rest were just mindless JRPGs. After looking into it I learn even Cyber Sleuth while extremely casual with the gameplay is much more interesting than say playing Pokemon given the amount of freedom (with restrictions you gotta learn) that comes with it. After I finish Cyber Sleuth I intend on giving World 2 a shot when I want something that can't just be beaten with an auto battle feature.

A tip for Emulator/PC players or OG ps1 with the disk for it: there's a GameShark Code to remove level caps. If you've played the game a lot or even just don't like having to reset your Digimon constantly it's a hell of a useful thing to have. Just be aware that you will be struggling for attacks sometime due to DNA being a great source of move customization. However if you are in a position to use the code you could always still use modifiers to get which ever moves you like. If anyone ever wants the code I'm happy to pass it along. I actually saw i vomment on another video that says that Yhis games version of Jogress is actually the most correct use, Jogress being a combination of the words, Join and PROGRESS. And its even stated in the anime that Omnimon is a Fusion or Gattai, while Imperialdramon is a Jogress Digivolution(likely a separate term from simple Jogress, as its an Evolution from a Jogress. Its possible that the Jogress of 02 are still champion level and they were incorrectly categorized. As many previous games have a very different view on many digimon and their corrosponding levels.

For example- Digimon X has 3DP and Digimon Y has 6DP; will their offspring have 9DP (both parents combined) or just +1 to the strongest Digimon's DP?

That's a good question! As it turns out, the offspring will inherent the dp from the parent with the most dp total +1. For example Digimon X(5dp) +Digimon Y(6dp) = Digimon Z(7dp).

I completely fucked up my understanding of the dna digi equation. I thought it worked kind of like DP where it adds up in the background so I just fused a lot of level 11s thinking it would go up. Still capped at 14 and wasted hours of grinding. At least I got an insane amount of bits and DP though :p

Got starter digimon, capture wild digimon, evolve at level 11, level up until limited 9999999 oh my god 😩 dna digivolve any digimon, level up again, evolve again, got 9999999 again, dna digivolve again... Repeat again until your digimon max level 99

Or you could just grind money to buy toys and lure in (read: capture) wild digimon at higher-level dungeons and basically ignore the DNA system entirely if all you intend to do is get the game's ending. Just... don't ever go inside Tera Domain. lol

At that point, the only battle that can stonewall the player would be the final coliseum fight since it restricts item usage. You just have to hope that they don't cast Tidal Wave. If they do, you're essentially stuck as you will no longer have the necessary attack power to kill them before Magnadramon spams full hp cure.
