I'm doing both. Digital because I don't have space for supplies. Paper because I already bought it.

The tactile feel of pen to paper can never be replaced. And the supplies that go along with it can be just a few things or a boat load of them depending on our interests. To the extent that we indulge in many supplies, it's likely because we also see the hobby aspect in paper planning. This is so ironic, because as a self employed business woman that has run a small CLOUD-BASED boutique accounting and consulting firm for the past 18 years, I turned away from paper planning (quite a few years ago) thinking I needed to maximize my time with digital planning. And it was YOU and YOUR CHANNEL that convinced me that I could incorporate some paper planning into my routine. And it has made a WORLD of difference in my planning process and my ability to focus on one week at a time (on paper), while having the global view in a digital system as a big picture perspective. I thank you for the inspiration. It made me just a bit sad to watching this video and hearing the comparison between the two planning styles in a way that seems to suggest that paper planning is not "as good as" digital planning. But of course I know that you're speaking for yourself as it is a personal choice. Just speaking as a fan that really admired how you used pretty paper planning to juggle the obvious hard work you do as a leader with all of your other equally important responsibilities. I had to stop watching the video. It's not you, it's me. I'm giddy over my TN system that I have set up and the beautiful covers that I've been collecting, some of which were hand crafted. Takes me back to when I couldn't be separated from my Franklin planner. So I'll sit this one out. But I am fascinated by how you've set up your digital system and it's still fun watching your excitement as you share you planning process with us, no matter if it's paper or digital. I'll look forward your next video! Merry Christmas. Be well. 🙏🏿🥰

Clearly your life demands are such that digital planning makes a lot of sense. It’s truly minimal and simple and in the long term less expensive. However I’m the kind of person who needs glass doors on her kitchen cabinets just to remember what’s in there. Stuff disappears for me digitally (my one month using a Palm Pilot back in 2005 fizzled because I forgot everything I put in there). Plus my 3 year goal is to live off grid - to be 100% in charge of my energy needs and generation. Now even off grid I could easily keep an iPad and router charged. So it’s not a deterrent to digital planning. But part of my goal is to stop using planners pretty much completely and focus instead on a big wall calendar, whiteboards (Kanban for projects) and various cheap notebooks I can throw in my purse or pocket that will end their lives in a wood burning stove. However I agree totally with your points about the benefits of going digital. I’m just further along in my life journey, to put it kindly (to me), so there is less to track. I am equally disheartened by the waste of money on supplies that have to be periodically repurchased.

I went digital early last year and love it. I still watched (and loved) your videos all year, but I'm so excited that you are going digital this year! I am a pen/stationary addict and have been my whole life. I was constantly buying the stuff before, but would you believe I didn't buy a single additional supply last year? I was amazed! I did buy a few digital stickers, but that was under $10 total.

The ability to copy and paste was the game changer for me in switching to digital planning. My schedule changes constantly and my paper planner was a mess, even with erasable ink. I also have confidential info on my calendar and appreciate the security of digital planning. So excited to see where your channel goes!!!

I remember when you started this channel and the need for having a creative outlet of drawing donuts or mermaids was huge. I'm curious if digital is going to fill that need. Time will tell. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵😷

Annie I love your videos. What app are you using for your digital planning? I just want to add that your videos have been so helpful and guided me in my planning process. Thank you

Going digital might very well ruin your life. The hour planning with pen and paper, might be the rest from screens and digital temptations, that keeps your brain sane.

I don't use online apps, but what I understand is: if your app makes an upgrade that you don't like, you're stuck with it. You can't keep working in the old version. And back in the day, they made it difficult to move your data from one app to another, so you'd stay with your old app. 💖🌞🌵😷

You hit the nail on the head with all of your reasons. I have been digital planning and note taking using OneNote since 2012! I love the search feature as well as the ability to cross platforms, android, apple and windows PC. I can share my notebooks with my husband as well. The tags feature in OneNote is a game changer. I too am never without my planner. Hope you love digital as much as I do. I thinknyou are using Goodnotes? Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this journey.

I think the only way to know if the digital investment is for you, is to go through life's process of having 5 notebooks and realizing what system will work for you. 💖🌞🌵😷
