Check out my First Time Watching "The Incredibles" (2004) Have you seen it? What was your favorite part?
In this lauded Pixar animated film, married superheroes Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) are forced to assume mundane lives as Bob and Helen Parr after all super-powered activities have been banned by the government. While Mr. Incredible loves his wife and kids, he longs to return to a life of adventure, and he gets a chance when summoned to an island to battle an out-of-control robot. Soon, Mr. Incredible is in trouble, and it's up to his family to save him.

Not sure if you noticed but when that silver chicked hair first found Mr. Incredible, her dialogue seems to indicate that she was gonna recruit Frozone and then in the moment realized that frozone was not with some fat guy but THE mr incredible. Seeing at how advanced the robot was. Frozone got lucky.

There's a bonus short called Jack-Jack Attack that shows what happened when back at the house with the babysitter. Also the sequel goes more into Jack-Jack's powers.

There is a video of a deleted scene that shows the mass funeral they had for the superhero’s. Also I realized when Violet jumped in front of Dash she didn’t know she could create the shield around them like that, she was jumping to take the bullet

@@haha-lj5sq it was cut for time and flow, not for being too dark. Brad Bird in the end agreed it did not help the film at all to keep it in. Also the part with making Helen the pilot ended up being such a great change he thanked the team that suggested it.

11:59 The scene where Bob and Lucius are confronted by a police officer and Lucius gets a drink from a water cooler to freeze the cop is a homage/reference to Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) where Samuel L. Jackson's character is confronted by an officer at a pay phone. The officer even has the same caricature as the one from Die Hard with a Vengeance. Samuel L. Jackson voices Lucius Best AKA Frozone.

This movie is SO GOOD!! The animation and storyline really hold up (to me, anyway). Disney "went there" on a lot of topics, and made it so relatable to the problems that a lot of average families face. It's great writing that makes a movie about superheros so relatable to the average family. The second one is definitely worth a watch, but for me the first is the best! But the second tackles a lot of relatable topics, too. Not to get political, but I've always thought that the legal troubles the supers faced was pretty realistic of how the American public would react!

I love this film sooo much. It’s so unpatronising to it’s audience it can be watched by anyone. It’s mature and yet still universally watchable The absolute dread of the plane scene, Helen screaming at violet, Mirages face when she realises there’s kids aboard the plane because she did not sign up for this. It’s all just so well done. Sheer, realistic, panicked terror from a mother who thinks her family is about to die. Elements you wouldn’t really see in Disney films nowadays as everything has to be very safe and grounded and for the kids.

"I'll be a bigger hero than you ever were." "You mean you killed off real heroes so that you could PRETEND to be one?" "Oh, I'm real. Real enough to defeat YOU! And I did it without your precious gifts, your oh-so-special powers. I'll give them heroics. I'll give them the most spectacular heroics anyone's ever seen! And when I'm old and I've had my fun, I'll sell my inventions so that everyone can be superheroes. EVERYONE can be super! And when everyone's super... [laughs maniacally] ...NO ONE will be." Fun Fact: Lily Tomlin was considered for the part of Edna Mode, but turned it down when she heard Brad Bird's vocal performance. Distinguished Competition Fact: DC Comics objected to the name Elastigirl, due to their character Elasti-Girl. A compromise was reached whereas outside of the film (promotional materials, et cetera) Elastigirl would be known as Mrs. Incredible. Super Dialogue Fact: Helen's use of radio protocol while flying is exceptionally accurate for a movie. In the director's commentary, Brad Bird tells that Holly Hunter insisted on learning the lingo and its meaning. The terminology used hints that Elastigirl has had military flight training.

Jack Jack has not fully developed his powers so he is in flux and may settle into a set power or powers. The voice of Edna Mode is done by Brad Bird the director who did the voice for story boarding the movie and he did such a great job, they could not find anyone better so he did the voice. Violet Parr’s powers are similar to Susan Richards (née Storm) she projects an energy field that can bend light around herself or other objects or she can change the intensity and frequency to act as a force field.

One final note: Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston two of the last remaining animators from Disney’s original animation group called “The Nine Old Men” were the two old guys talking in the final battle scene using their own voices and the last time they would work together on a Disney project before Frank died in Sept. 2004, Ollie died in April 2008 the last of the original animation team.

There's a subtle Easter egg in this movie that references Brad Bird's last animated film, The Iron Giant (also very much worth a watch), which came out in 1999. When Elastigirl is flying the plane, the call sign she uses is India Golf Niner Niner, or IG99.

9:57 "What the-? That is the tiniest car I’ve ever seen! It’s tinier than a Prius. 😂" To be fair this WAS the 1960's (1962 to be exact since the Glory Days of Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone happened around 1947) all cars were considered small and normal compared to today’s cars since The Incredibles took place between May-October 1962.

For starters, this is 5 out of 5!!! It has everything for everybody. As far as the James Bond vibe, that worked strongly for me (the music, sound effects, atmosphere, settings). So you HAVE to see "You Only Live Twice" to see a LOT of the inspiration for this. That lawsuits could defeat superheroes where supervillains could not, such an irony. Loved your reaction, you definitely did not see all that stuff coming.

Edna is the best, and definitely check out the Jack Jack shorts. There is one for this film and another for Incredibles 2 and both are absolutely hilarious, priceless and not to be missed. Going to go outside the bounds of Pixar and Disney, however this studio has a long working history with Disney, and who's founder is often been called the Walt Disney of Japan, Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. If you haven't watched his films, stop waiting and dive in, all of his movies are fantastic not a single bad film to his name, the voice talent for his English versions is phenomenal, even the films I didn't think I'd like, I've loved and would recommend to anyone. The kind of movie he makes is always different, he literally has movies for every age of life, keeps the use of CGI to a bare minimum and is one of the best film makers on the planet, he doesn't rely on His Movies Break Down Like This!!! His fun and most kid friendly films with young protagonists: Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro and Ponyo. , More teen friendly, more action and typically deeper and more adult subject matter: Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, Porco Rosso and Howl's Moving Castle. And finally, his most adult themed and heavier works, Princess Mononoke (my personal favorite), Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and The Wind Rises.

Oh, bless your heart. They are not “A” listers!? Holly Hunter has won an Oscar! Craig T. Nelson was the father in Steven Spielberg’s “Poltergeist”. He starred in “Coach”. There’s so many roles, they are… “Incredible”! Did you see the short after the credits about Jack Jack? It’s hilarious! And yes, Edna Mode is iconic (and check out who voiced her.) The music fits the style so well with the mid-century jazz. I love choreographing it for High School Marching Bands! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
