Can I just say, I have never seen a woman in this family speak so strongly, confidently, and openly and I am so proud to see how much you have grown since your days on 19KAC.

I agree. When Jinger was single she seemed much more outspoken. Now Jeremy speaks for her over and over. She has one line basic answers and he goes into depth for her. He seems to domineer their relationship. I'm certain he loves her and she loves him, but their dynamic isn't nearly as comfortable, at least on screen, as Jill and Derrick seem or even Jessa and Ben seem. I hope as time goes by that changes. She has lived away from the family her entire marriage and it seems their relationship is much more authoritarian. Maybe that's just for the show though and they are trying to portray Jinger as Mama Duggar take 2. I do love the dynamic of Jill and Derrick though. They have found a way to be a light to the world and not hiding that light under self righteous works that makes them a spectacle that distracts from the message of the cross.
@lauraryan7460
@lauraryan7460 4 жыл бұрын
@Eden Grey nah man, Jessa is way too deep in the look aid to actually speak truly openly and honestly. Just the fact that Jill can criticize her parents shows that she has grown tremendously. She still has a long way to go but she is leaps and bounds more mature and more honest than Jessa

Interesting...Jill, I see a strong woman who speaks her own mind, rather than deferring to her husband. You are comfortable disagreeing, even with a camera recording you. Something I never saw between your parents. Your partnership seems more equal, which, in the long run, is more respectful.

I don't see her disagreeing at all. I see her adding her two cents. There is a difference. Also, for people in a Christian marriage, it is biblical to submit to our husbands. Not everything that God asks us to do is easy, but His plan & His way is always perfect. I have recently begun to follow a teaching about biblical submission for wives, it has changed my life and my marriage for the better. Knowing that I am following God's will is priceless. More so than human accolades or respect. Knowing I'm pleasing my God means everything. And if Michelle Duggar lives that same way, who are we to judge? If you don't agree with how a person lives, it's fortunate you don't have to live their life. 😉

Derick was going through a lot with his jaw surgery and other health issues and now we know about the TLC issues too so yes, I think he did come across poorly for a while but it’s understandable now why. I also think he and Jill have had a lot of time to grow, as we all have to throughout life and the change is showing in a positive light. I’d still love to see his comments about Jazz Jennings addressed though and to see that they hopefully have different views there now even if it’s something they don’t personally support. She is still owed an apology in my eyes, and apologies from me if there had been one and I’ve missed it.

Here's a juicy question: I'm sure you both had your assumptions about sex before you got married, considering you were virgins. The unknown can send our minds spiralling. That being said, how have your views on sex as now two married adults changed compared to what your parents told you in your teens? Also, what was sex education like in your family? Having so many kids at so many ages, what is done by age or life event? Was there judgment instilled your parents or mentors that you were not of value if you had sex before marriage?

This is me assuming. But, I think that may be part of the falling out with her family. I (as Jill) would have given my parents an ultimatum: either him or I. As someone who has actually has had to do this in my family, I absolutely know it’s not easy but it’s for the safety and mental health of the “victim” They sent off Josh to a rehab center and then welcomed back in with open arms (it seems) I would’ve been PISSED out of my mind if my family didn’t give me the respect and the value I deserve.

I felt as if she just wanted to sweep it under the rug and pretend like it never happened. @@Lily-bj2ne finally, someone else who sees the truth, rather than their own preconceived ideas/ideals. Just because some of the folks here wouldn't be able to forgive their abuser, doesn't mean everyone is that way. Also, have you all forgotten that JOSH WAS A CHILD WHEN HE SEXUALLY ABUSED HIS SISTERS!!! That HAS to factor in! It's not like he was a grown man pedophile! Sheesh! He was a troubled/disturbed CHILD. A CHILD, PEOPLE! How do any of you Judgemental people know that Josh doesn't have a history of being sexually abused, huh? And was acting out? Do you even care about that? Men are far more likely to not tell when they've been sexually abused as a child. I'm NOT excusing what Josh did, whatsoever. I'm a victim of sexual abuse, by 14 different men, so I know what it's like to be victimized. I've also been the mother of a child who was involved with the criminal justice system due to my son offending on a couple of family members- WHILE HE WAS STILL A CHILD. We didn't know until he began intensive therapy & lie detector tests that he was raped by a neighbor at the age of 5, while I was at work and my mom was caring for him. I love that you guys acknowledge that that you’re not yet entirely sure of how you would handle your children dating. The integrity in the initial statement regarding crossing that bridge when you get there tells me that you guys have your heads on straight and lead with love. Having experienced turmoil with the way my own father handled me dating for the first time in my senior year of high school, I will say that the most important thing you can give your children is a judgement free space so that they can feel comfortable coming to you about things. I definitely did not feel that with my Dad (raised by a single dad) as he could be overbearing at times. But I did appreciate my Aunt who took me on a drive to tell me that certain “urges” were natural and if I needed anything like birth control or advice I could come to her. I think she understood that I was 17 and needed to be prepared for adulthood. That talk alone opened the door to me realizing that I could make my own decisions and helped me to understand the responsibility behind them all in the same token. I guess y’all’s conversation really resonated with me. ❤️
