He is the best earth has ever hosted as a singer, and he has many associated talents that are great to go with it. I’m glad to hear you say it. Most vocal coaches are afraid to say it because of their audiences. Also, a lot of his greatness comes from it being his destiny. His gifts are obvious, and the ability to work with his gifts and to put in the 20+ years of training with perfect focus and drive, and to be brought up in the right place at the right time shows that Dimash is part of a plan from above.

This is from the Chinese competition called "I Am Singer" in 2017. The people in the back are his competitors. They are all well-established famous singers in China, Dimash, who was already well known in Kazakhstan and Russia, was invited as a "wildcard" and was only supposed to be in 4 episodes. After his first appearance with SOS, the Chinese fans went wild and broke Weibo, (the Chinese internet) and demanded he remain in the show. Dimash needed bodyguards after that. Dimash did finish the competition in 2nd place, as rules dictated that only a Chinese singer could win, although everyone knew Dimash was true winner. The next year the rules were changed, and British star Jessie J. won. Dimash retuned the next year (2018) as a guest for one song "Hello". Just keep listening. Everything he does is amazing.

This is the best summation of Dimash's early rise to stardom (2017) I have read. The first song he sang on "I Am Singer" was SOS. The next day he awoke to massive fame and, as you mentioned, the need for body guards (which perplexed him because he was still unaware of the love and mayhem his performance had created the night before.)

I crack up at how shocked he was that he needed security. Another funny thing about Dimash is that he is now known as "The Security Killer" because of his tendency to jump off stage unplanned in the middle of a song. Then security has to scramble after him. It's hilarious; he just does what he is feeling in the moment and I love it. Also, this was six years ago. He was this good THEN... He has only improved with time. ❤

This is the 2017 Singer competition in China, where all competitors are already established artists and the audience are Industry professionals. Yes - from his 1st performance; (SOS), he blew everyone away. The other competitors simply became 'instant fans'! As did literally hundreds of millions of the public Chinese Singer audience from the night the first episode aired. Dimash was invited on as a 'Guest Competitor' from neighbouring Kazakhstan, and continued performing and progressing through the competition over the 4 month length of that season's production. His family, who are busy professional artists themselves, had other commitments at home and so were unable to be there most of that time. [ But you will see his father hidden in the audience - come to surprise him - for the performance of Opera 2. * Watch this one right to the end to see Dimash's reaction } You are right - from the first is was VERY clear who the Winner was - BUT - THEY GAVE HIM RUNNER UP! Hundreds of Millions of Chinese fans went ballistic on their 'twitter'. Now, even 5 years later, you can still find Chinese DEARS Spitting Mad about it! The Producers of the show then rushed out and 'explained' that; 1] They'd never expected him to be this good & 2] they 'couldn't' give him the top spot as this was 'reserved' for a Chinese National. Their excuse for this 'rule' was that the winner was supposed to be able to represent China in other International competitions. As you can imagine - this did nothing to cool the heat. There was such a HUGE outcry that it almost became an 'International Incident'! 🤣 Eventually, the 'diplomatic solution' was that both Governments agreed he should be officially designated a newly created title:- as the "Kazakh - China Cultural Ambassador". NOT content with this, shortly thereafter, when an Astronomer's Competition to name a newly discovered Star was held in China, Dimash Dears Voted overwhelmingly to name it after him, so now there is a Dimash Q Star - swinging around somewhere in the Andromeda Galaxy! True story. The next year they changed this rule, and Jesse J came on and won the 2018 Singer. { # Jesse is also a absolutely phenomenal artist and basically turned the competition into the JJ Show! 😃)

You are right, he is the best vocalist of the world. Not only because of his insane range but also because he has a total control of his voice and his breath. However, to me he is the best because his ability to convey emotions, to perform so intensely, to be so possessed by the music is unique. And last but not least, he never has a diva behavior, remaining kind, polite and respectful, in line with his will to transcend borders, cultures and religions. You should try his kazakh songs, they are absolutely amazing: Adai+Dididau (Bastau 2017) or Samaltau (2021) or the music video Qairan Elim. This is another aspect of Dimash, very important for him.

Although they were competitors they were all very nice and kind with each other. They called Dimash „imported little brother“. And one of the competitors was called „Papa Lin“ by Dimash, they built a friendship and performed songs together for example at Terry Lin‘s birthday, at a huge concert of Dimash or at an event of Jackie Chan.

Dimash plays various instruments, piano, drums, Dombra etc. If you do Daididau from Bastau you can see him playing the Dombra which is I believe the national instrument of Kazakhstan. It has 2 strings only.

All those people backstage are other contestants - all well known, established Chinese professionals. Dimash ended up placing second in the competition, which was won by Sandy Lam a famous Hong Kong singer/actress - she’s amazing as were most of the other contestants - the Lion Band who placed third, Terri Lin, Jason Zhang to name a few. A great show to watch with first class production, musicians, singers, orchestra, technicians, directors. 🙏🇦🇺

I agree with you, best vocalist male OR female. He can sing soft, lilting ballads in the soprano range or he can belt out gritty vocals in a soprano range. He can easily and flawlessly access his whistle register, and there are videos of him just clowning around in everyday life doing the famous (and notoriously difficult) female soprano part from Queen of the night. BUT, then he can sing very low notes well and do deep growls. Shit, he can sing every note flawlessly that humans can hit. Show me someone else who can do that?

I think it's annoying that some vocal coaches are saying that when he hits the high notes his head is shaking, and that isn't necessary for any reason. Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. He can actually do it deliberately. And why?,... Because he can. Its like, if they can't find anything to complain about, they will definitely mention the head shake. Why.. 😳 He doesn't want to be a pure operah singer. He want to explore. I'm sure he will set the world on fire 🔥 in the future. 👍 Love from Norway 🇳🇴

Yes, piano and six other instruments. None of the people you see in this video are his family. Those are other contestants and producers of the show sometimes. In some of the other performances from this competition you will see shots of his father in the audience. While some female singers can hit his high notes and some male singers can hit his low notes there is no one else that has a 7 plus octave range and can hit all those notes.

Yes, this was a competition but not your average competition. All those backstage were competitors (including the ones you thought were his family) but they are all professionals with long established careers and Dimash was introduced as a wildcard only expected to last 2 episodes. In the end he came second. Dimash expected to be in China for a few weeks, in the end he stayed for 3 years, and had his own flat and state of the art recording studio in Beijing.

@@LocalBandSmokeout it was the lady in the back room who had her head in her hands. She has been a favourite of the Chinese for many years. Rumour had it that only a Chinese person could actually win. I don’t know if that was true. But Dimash was the one who gained international recognition, and Dimash has said in interview that coming second didn’t matter. He was more concerned that the audience liked his performance.

@@LocalBandSmokeout it was a singer called Sandy Lam who was much loved by the Chinese before she entered the competition and to be fair he lost serious points in round 5 when he did Uptown Funk, a song that didn't suit him at all. Apparently he only lost by 0.4% of the total points but by the end of the 13 rounds he had conquered China and had a solid fan base. His career sky rocketed and his first album ID went platinum in 37 seconds.

I am Italian. I have known the art of singing since I was born. Let's clarify the point immediately: Dimash is simply not good in this or that field, in this or that aspect of singing. Dimash is the sound field. You have intuited the totality that is Dimash, but not entirely. Following the ontological thread even before the logical one of technical analysis, it cannot yet be fully understood that here it is no longer just about octaves, whistling register and even more than simple, immense, vocal technique. Dimash has a universal voice. To be clear, his voice is like what in biology is called a totipotent cell. In this sense it is a "stem voice". The singer competition is a competition for professional singers. Each season there is a kind of wildcard for singers outside China and Dimash was one of them. It goes over several episodes and there is a duet episode and with each episode there is a winner and at the end there is an overall winner. Dimash did not win this....
