“Daybreak” - At his first concert in Bastau: This song tells the sad story of a Chinese boy (Quon Yan), who along with his family, suffered a cable car accident in Xingyi city in Guizhou province, where many people died, but the boy's parents held him up with their hands and he survived, though the parents died. The song was written and composed by the boy's adoptive mother (Han Hong) and Dimash sang the song for the first time in Mandarin on “The Singer 2017”, but he had a sore throat and sang through injections. The doctor said that if he sang high notes, he would never sing again... He sang! Then he made this wonderful version, already cured, at his show in Bastau!

Glad to see that you have been Dimashified, but - Don't forget to sleep!!! Believe me, once you accept that you are a Dear, you may find that you need at least a little #DimashEveryDay. Endlessly. In any form - he doesn't have to be singing. I also enjoy seeing interviews on KZbin that he has given over the years. It helps in keeping the fangirling at a reasonable level. Thankfully, my husband agrees that my Dimash addiction is healthy! So, until I make it to a concert, I can only be thankful for KZbin (and the many other platforms that we can find Dimash on). (btw, your volume levels have improved, ty)

This song always brings me to tears. Dimash also sang this at the Singer competition. There's a longer video about that one on Gloria Wu's YT channel because Dimash lost his voice, had to get medical treatment, but went on to sing. Dimash brought out the full emotions in this one. Based on a true about a family in a cable car accident. The cable car was over packed and the cables snapped. The father raised his son up to try to save him. The son survived but both parents died. Han Hong, author of the song, wrote it from the little boy's perspective and after hearing about the accident, adopted the young boy. Such a powerfully sad song. Love Dimash...he becomes the songs he sings! Great reaction. Thank you.

Just remember that all the Gloria Wu's videos are audio adjusted to bring down Dimash's voice a half or one step down from the original video from the Singer 2017 broadcast to foil the copyright claims (i.e. top notes like E6 down to D6). Best to use the original CCTV broadcast video for the song itself including the behind the scenes videos from the show.

I truly cannot and will not understand anyone recommending this song without providing background information on what about. That‘s the reason I always recommending The Singer version first. That's really a shame. I could cry every time I see this recommendation without any context. It’s about a cable car accident that happened in China in 1999. The cable car was completely overcrowded. The max capacity of the wagon was 10 but there were crammed 36 people onto it. To make the story short, the car slid back and crashed 100 meters down to the ground. 14 tourists were killed. Including the parents of the boy this song is about. The boy only survived because his father lifted him high to soften the fall. The little one was 2.5 years old at the time. Han Hong, a Chinese singer wrote this song from the surviving boy's point of view when she heard about the crash. Later she adopted the boy. Of course she also sang the song herself. You might want to give that a listen too. It's always very frustrating when reactors only respond to the Bastau version but don't know the sad story of this song and don't even try to turn on the subtitles or don't read it. I can understand that many of the Dears would rather respond to this version simply because it is incredibly powerful. However, in my opinion it loses a lot of impact if you don't know why he sings the way he sings. As powerful as this performance is, I get nauseous when the reactors jump in the seat and yell "Beautiful! Yeah! Good! Great! Perfect! or whatever, without knowing what they are actually reacting to. I would never blame the reactors for this but nonetheless it is horrific to see in most cases. Guys why are you constantly doing this? One sentence, it requires one sentence to talk about the backstory. In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. It's incredible how he still manages to convey such emotions even though he had such a bad sore throat during this performance. But I also think that the emotion he shows in this one version is mainly worry about whether his voice will last until the end of the song. This song is about a sad and tragic real and true story and sung divinely and perfectly live by Dimash is very moving..Is one of the songs sung by Dimash that make me cry like a baby every time I listen this song..And this is just one of the proofs that only who is a ridiculous and frustrated hater of Dimash can also only think that Dimash is like a robot,that he's only vocal range,high notes,octaves,and scream..This is totally false and is just a big bullshit..Dimash is also a great storyteller because not only sing the songs but also tell to you the story of the song,and in my opinion is the most emotional and moving singer and artist of the planet..The Boss King Angel And The Living Legend Dimash Supremacy
