Sorry for making a comment, but I wanted to add that the PIANIST in this performance was also Kenes Duisekeev's student. So he too is grieving, and it can be heard so clearly in his playing. Stunning. I saw a comment on another video for this performance, something like: "Dimash built a monument with this song, only not by his hands". All the many Kazakhs who were personally touched by the loss of this great teacher can see this as their eternal monument for Duisekeev, I hope. Dimash commented on his Instagram when he uploaded the new video: "Maestro Adilzhan Tolykpayev and I sang the song ‘Karagym-ay’ by our teacher, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Kenes Duisekeev” - so the performance was emotional for both of them, I think. As a 83 year old father of 2 daughters and son...this brought me to tears. Not the first time with Dimash...and with his passion and sincere quest for vocal expression I will cry again with his songs. What a performance. Of all the songs he has sung, this one hit the hardest. It was raw and vulnerable. Everything he was feeling I felt. No Tricks. No Acrobats vocally. Just a song that needed to be expressed, feelings that needed to be let out. I mean, do you applaud it or just sit and reflect? Had I been in an audience and he sang this, I think at the end I would turn to the person next to me and hug them.

He paid special tribute to him at his graduation. I’m sure that his Professor would love this version of his song. Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

Interview with Karagym-Ay song composer, Kenes Duisenkeev, pronounced Kenes DoosenkEEv. In 2016, my 70th anniversary was celebrated right here in Astana. It was decided that it would take place in the concert hall Kazakhstan. Then Dimash Kudaibergen came to me and said, "Kenes aga," how do you look at it when I perform the song Karagym-Ay?! In fact, I already invited another singer to perform this song. But I didn't want to disappoint the boy. I thought he was a talented boy who had just gotten to his feet, so I didn't say no, but said, prepare yourself for the performance. In two days, a rehearsal will take place in the concert hall Kazakhstan, on the day of the concert day, you will come and i will hear your performance. Dimash finished performing, I didn't notice when I got up and called Dimash. Come here dear, come here and I hugged him. I hugged him and said, God gave you not only a voice but also a heart and, most importantly, wisdom. I didn't think a young boy who wasn't even 20 could understand the philosophical depth of this song. In fact, he realized all my thoughts on this song. instagram.com/p/CGiDdnCArPA/?igshid=14s02s38e7t1d

That must have been a translation error, Dimash had to be 21 or 22 in 2016. But even at 26, many men are still wasting a lot of time with drunken friends, doing stupid things...Dimash must be the deepest 26yo on the planet! 😉
@FluffysMum4 жыл бұрын
@@FretsOnFire hi nice to see you again, yes could have been an error, but still he was young to be understanding the complexity of the emotions in this song. Yes Dimash is very deep, very emotional and very wise. He is an old soul, wise beyond his years. He doesn't drink at all, and can't have cold drinks. So when he goes out with his friends he orders a Coke and asks for some hot water in it. He suffers for his art ❤❤❤❤
@FretsOnFire4 жыл бұрын
@@FluffysMum Haha...I don't drink it just to avoid the ridiculous amount of sugar! Nothing to do with my art! 😉 Always nice to see you too...yeah, even now at 26 you would never expect such depth from a singer - in fact, I've barely heard it from any singers at any age! So amazing. I was very profoundly affected & influenced by Bruce Lee since childhood, and I often think of Dimash as the Bruce Lee of vocals, because they both completely revolutionized their arts at very young ages. But Bruce was both cocky & somewhat humble at times (cocky can help when you're a fighter, lol), whereas Dimash is completely humble, but somehow still completely confident. Amazing! 😇

@@FluffysMum I forgot to say: I'm guessing that in the interview his meaning was more like "a young boy who is barely 20", something like that?

@@FretsOnFire yes that sounds more likely. Dimash was devastated when his Professor died, he was very close to him. So the grief here is very real, I don't know how he didn't fall apart performing thus song that meant so much to Kenes ❤

His heart filled with sorrow, so hard to get his voice out. I started to cry when his first word came out nothing but pure breath for a second just like it is so painful to sing and then his softer voice start singing. I felt his pain inside of my soul.

This was crushing for Dimash, a eulogy for a much-beloved mentor. Dimash, a first born son was raised by his grandparents who instilled him with passion and love. The elderly are deeply loved in his homeland, not only for their wisdom but the knowledge they bring forward. Thank you so much for the thoughtful care you brought to this story. My work was mostly in the jazz and pop genre, but I got close to the theater and operatic field where the story drives everything. Dimash approaches all of his compositions from that point of view and it shows brightly. This was very different, I say, with tears flowing.

My beloved, this is what true beauty is. You didn’t even need to dream of being that beautiful. People are only guests in this world, this life is so short. My beloved, while deer's wander in the steppe, who is waiting for you on your path? Why is this sorrow that I feel? Who will be your destiny in the future? My beloved, the life is passing by but life makes no sense without love. All the wealth saved up in your life can never have the same worth as a day of your love. Qaraqym ai in itself is so potent in its meaning, that we simply won't find a lovelier or more fitting tribute than the one Dimash gives his teacher . I've watched this (2nd version) countless times and I'm NOT the crying type. I'm NOT. My parrot has a new habit: nibbling at my tears.

I'm amazed at how Dimash was able to limit both tempo and range yet unleash such a depth of emotion. Like a poet, I suppose: few words, much meaning. The deliberate withholding of his "acrobatics" lets him (and us!) focus on just how much such emotion can draw our focus to one wrenching thought. Superb and sublime. Also, I may not be the only one to notice this, but especially when this performance is compared with the early one, you can see how mature Dimash has become; his face is becoming that of a man. (But not only because he is now 26; the way he shares this grief with us adds a richness to his appearance.)

Thank you for this reaction. It`s really a quality by you to always be prepared, knowing about the background and evaluate in the right way. You are the first I saw who compared these two versions of the song. Both versions are beautiful, but the second one is so sad, pure emotion and mourning. He gives a voice to all the people who have experienced a loss. That doesn`t make anything better, but to feel the pain and sorrow, to cry together with Dimash perhaps is taking away a little piece of pain and makes it easier to deal with it. We can go through it togehter.

Oh my! I heard you but I can’t barely see you. Tears kept flowing uncontrollably. The good thing about your reaction is that even though you pause you are not breaking the momentum in fact you are adding to it by explaining how it is done. If there’s a voice when a love one is being lowered to the grave, this is it... so poignantly beautiful, reaping the heart apart. Beautiful reaction as always. I had waited... Dimash is the best voice. No need for high octave, just that finest one full of emotion.

Great reaction! Out of most reactors, your’s was the best!! You took the time to search the background of the songs. You felt the joy in the first version , and the pain of loss in Dimash’s performances!! Thank you! Keep safe!!

Beautiful reaction, it is refreshing when i see and feel you express your true feelings, you are an example of goodness and compassion, may it spread to the world, thank you..... here is another from Dimash you may/may not have heard of : kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6DYf6x_aJiVj6c - Quote "Қaratrғai is in itself an original beautiful and tragic poem. An old bird that was once a proud eagle, but now aged and blind with a wounded wing, but with a proud soul, flies across the sky with its last strength. The pain and suffering of the bird is transmitted so spiritually by the music itself. And the voice of Dimash revived not only this folk song, beloved by everyone. Dimash gave a second wind to Karatorgai. Fresh breath of the steppe wind, the coolness of the blue sky, the vastness of the endless steppe. This is what I hear in this song. So tenderly and carefully Dimash sings this song. It's an art to be able to take a song with all your heart, perform it with your heart and bring it to the heart of the audience. Dimash conquered everyone with his clear voice, personality and purity. " I want to flap my wings, Wear coral under the wings. Greetings from childhood, I lost you suddenly. Chorus: Starling, It's too late. Poor thing, you whistle, Do not land. On the other side of the Irtysh there is a deep ravine, The towed silk rope is brown. Landing on a branch of a tree, Singing, blackberry in the morning. Chorus: Starling, It's too late. Poor thing, you whistle, Do not land.
