This is only a fraction of what he can do. He is the best in the world, & after 5+ performances you’re still not going to comprehend that he will keep surprising you. This was about 5yrs ago. At some point you’ll want to see SOS 2021 from his digital show, you will also get requests for SOS from Slavic Bazaar- that is because this artist rarely does the same song the same, & someone knowledgeable like you especially can appreciate the differences. He was unknown to China when he walked on stage as 1st performer of this competition’s 1st episode. After this aired, the performance had 600+ million views overnight. Slavic Bazaar version is more intense & polished, 2021 is more raw & vulnerable. Make sure you put subtitles on that time, as the lyrics are beautiful & how they play with the song itself & his voice. There isn’t another artist with more pure masterpieces to see on KZbin, or off KZbin lol. Please go down the rabbit hole!

My favorite past time is watching singers and vocal coaches react for the first time to Dimash, and especially to SOS. You just watched the man that shut down the Chinese internet with this performance of SOS. 5 years later his deep voice is much lower and the high still the same cosmic level. He is easily, and effortlessly the best in the world. he is singer, composer, actor, dancer, multi-instrumentalist, fashion model, tae-kwon-do belt holder(karate), humble young man, with strong ethics, and role model in classroom textbooks in several nations for children to strive to be like. He is a humanitarian, having donated 15 million or more to relief groups in his country as well as working to deliver the aid to those in need. And does not seek any recognitions for his efforts. A class individual all around. His mother says she does not recognize her son when he is on stage, he goes from reserved young man to "beast mode" when performing. He gives his all when performing.

This was him performing at age 22. He is now 27. You should hear him now! His octave range this past fall was 7 octaves 2 notes. He may have surpassed that since he is always working to expand it. He is shocking to even hear in most of his music, He began his classical vocal training at age 5 and continued through age 25. Still trains when time allows. He has an undergrad, a Masters in Music Composition and is working on his Doctorate. He is very athletic in many areas but focuses on underwater training to build his lung capacity. Btw he sings 7 octaves 9 semitones and a D8 whistle. He sings in 12 languages and plays 8 instruments. Hes from Kazakhstan. Hes 27 and has been in formal training since 5. He trains 3 hrs everyday. He swims long distance pools holding his breath to increase his lung capacity. He played a sold out concert in NY in 2019 where fans came from 68 countrys to see him! He has the most faithful fans. He refers to us as his Dears as he feels we are an extension of his soul. Believe it or not hes an introvert but does the most amazing performances. He brings the audience to tears often because he puts everything into his performance. Hes said, 1st place, 2nd place , how many octaves etc is not important to him. It only matters if he reaches his audience. If you want an example of what he can do with his voice watch Stranger at the New Wave concert. But there's no such thing as a bad Dimash performance. This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name should be symbolic and understandable to the public. The name Dimashi was chosen and Chinese hyroglyphs were assigned to the 3 syllables: * Di - achievement * Ma - gemstone * Shi - dream, wish. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZbin ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: next year Jessie J. won).

@@claudianewell9126 Dimash speaks of it in an interview. It happened before he sang SOS at Slavic Bazaar 2015… he still won the Grand Prix but it was pretty scary. He also only guessed it was sleeping pills, there was no way to know what was slipped into his drink in his dressing room. If you watch his performance you will see a dullness to his eyes (compared to his normal radiance & presence), & for most of the performance he uses the microphone stand to steady himself, which is also something you rarely see with him for more than a moment. He says in his interview he didn’t pursue the issue so as not to cause an international incident

Dimash is a master class for any musician or singer, Although his Master's Degree is in Composition. He plays 7 instruments, Watch "River of Love" to see him do an instrumental on the Kazakh national instrument , the Dombra. a 2 string lute like instrument. Watch "Olympico" for his more Operatic Genre (make sure to pick a performance with subtitles, lyrics are very important). Watch his MUSIC VIDEO " Be with Me" for the playful Pop Dimash. He sings in many genres with his 7+octave range, Opera, Pop, R&B, Folk, and more. He often includes many styles in one song. Oh yes, be sure to buy a seat belt...you are going to need it !!!!!!

There is not one register in which he has weakness, albeit that he glades through them rather than singing a whole song. Dimash has tonal color and intensity that I have not heard in another. BRAVO

Surprised you have never heard of Dimash. Must say you have a pretty good voice yourself. Dimash admits to being a countertenor. He has an 8 octave range, is classically trained and adheres to no specific genre. Just about every song he sings surprises you, so you can choose any one from his repertoire. Here are a few musts: Sinful Passion, Ogni Pietra, Stranger. You will not be disappointed.

This performance was 5 years ago, you should see and hear him now. Wow!! Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and on18th June 2020 completed his Masters specialising in Composition and Piano, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and is now doing his PhD in Musicology. His range is over 6 octaves (it's now 7 plus) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. Dimash sings in 15 languages now, German, Kazakh, English, Serbian, Arabic, Turkish, Kyrgyz, Japanese, Chinese, French, Spanish, Ukranian, Italian, Russian, Sicilian, as he has added Japanese when he performs at the Tokyo Jazz Festival. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rniWhq1mhMeGobc speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is very good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. After this one song he was catapulted to stardom with 600 MILLION hits on Weibo, Chinas social media platform similar to Instagram/Twitter and is now a huge pop star in China and a world renowned vocalist. He is also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical collaborations with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are quite operatic and written especially for his vocal range, see his latest song Stranger for example . He is also, thanks to KZbin very famous throughout the world. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour until covid-19 and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 27 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum (platinum in 37 seconds, triple platinumin an hour) album in China though, and is about to release his 2nd album shortly. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart in April 2022. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Dubai, tickets on sale now, and there will be others in other countries including South America. He held a massive global online concert in January, Dimash Digital Show on the American tixr platform which broke all records for sales for a non American artist. He unfortunately hasn't put out a complete song in Spanish yet, but I know they are working on doing one as Kanat Said as much when he said they planned to do a concert in South America when the pandemic allows. Absolutely love it when someone discovers Dimash. But that feeling of being awed will never leave. Wait until you hear him hit a D8, his full name translates to, "DONATED by GOD, Given by GOD, " but your journey has just began. He's a kind, gentle soul, a treasure given by the creator & 22 yrs of training. Which he still trains & swims a hr per day. As you know this strengthens the diaphragm which strengthens the 4 lobes of our lung. Can perform in 12 languages & is a multi- instrumentalist. I rarely subscribe after a first reaction to Dimash but I have done this time as your reaction was so cute and genuine. This was his breakthrough performance and you won't believe what he is capable of now 5 years later. He never stops learning and evolving and improving. It’s a mashup of Drunken Concubine (I think that’s what it’s called. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen that video) and Diva Dance. It’s my favorite duets he’s done besides the one with Zarina Altynbayeva called Question of Honor, and one he did with Sundeet Baigozhin called “Tu vas me detruire” Concubine and Diva duet and Tu Vas Me Detruire are two must sees.

I love the one he did with Sundet too. They don’t get seen by many reactors- tu vas ma detruire was done prior to this performance on the singer. It’s originally a duet between a man & a woman from the musical “hunchback of notre dame”. For the duet with Sundet, they did it as if if was a duel, 2 men singing to the same woman. It’s awesome & Sundet’s voice is wonderful too.

His range has expanded. He can indeed go low. You will see that in songs like Stranger. But I do suggest Sinful Passion next from New Wave. Layer by layer you will get to know this incredible human. When you want full power vocals, check out Olimpico- get the version off composer Igor Krutoy’s channel, it is from Dimash’s concert but unfortunately is not on his own channel. There are other versions & he is great in all of them, but the audio, concert itself, & camera work is unmatched in the version I recommended you. Other ones have sync issues as well

I am so happy that Dimash is on your channel as well! He is undoubtedly the best singer in the world today. Every detail of every note has been planned and rehearsed and mastered. He is incredible at expressing the emotion of the song. Dimash does all genres and he will surprise every time; he is never boring… my favorite is “Stranger”, followed closely by “Ave Maria” and “Daybreak Bastau”. If you react to any of the newer performances, you will get a KZbin strike unless you blurr the screen and stop here and there. Hello friend :) long way ahead of you :) you need to hear a few more Dimash songs to see what this boy can do. Each song is different, but each song will surprise you. In one he sings in an operatic voice, for example "Ogni Pietra", in the next he sings the D8 sound, for example in the song "Unforgettable day" on the gakku stage. There is also "screaming" performed live on stage with fire where Dimash raps in one part. If you want to hear an angelic voice, I recommend "Ave Maria". This video is from 2017 when he was only 22 years old; he is now 27 and has hones his skill even finer. A bit of background: from Kazakhstan, classically trained since the age of 5; University trained in classical and contemporary (including jazz and theatre); Masters degree in composition, and also close to getting his doctoral(if he hasn't already). Multi-instrumentalist (Piano, drums, Dombra, and a bit of guitar, I believe). Fluent in Russian and Kazakh; learning English and some Chinese. Sings in 13 languages. He's the real deal! Dynamic on stage; humble and "regular guy" off stage. He broke all expectations because he had been training for 17 years with real voice experts - classical and pop. This is the opening song of the opening night and he is the only non-Chinese and non-professional. He is from Kazakhstan and only spoke a few travel survival words in Chinese. So he did this massive cold open and decided to sing French to a Chinese audience. What could go wrong? Well, basically nothing, because he was so overprepared. This was 4-5 years ago. He has gotten better. Did you notice that big mixed belt near It is better to go slowly, so try his 2018 performance of Sinful Passion (Greshnaya Strast) in Russian at the New Wave Hall in Sochi, Russia with the band who wrote it in 1998, A-Studio, a band from his own Kazakhstan. Russian jazz/pop with great lyrics. The official video has a short digital glitch, so a fan fixed it perfectly : kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX3bdJ1_fc2JY8k . The English captions/subtitles are very good. This song is even a little more shocking than SOS. Did you notice that the big belt at around 4:07 was an F#5? How many guys can sing an F#5 at all, let alone in mixed voice? Classical tenors are generally working hard to do a C5 and that would be in falsetto. He sings higher and lower than just in this song, so buckle up. Sinful Passion is a good next step.
