Grateful to have these old live performances from before Mark started adding lyrics and changing the vocal syncopation. I’ve always liked the original phrasing best for its rythmic balance, as much about the strategic pauses as the rapid fire phrasing. It’s a shame the all the broadcasts from this era seem to skip the third verse. I’m undecided if it’s for time or because “damn” was still verboten on air back then. Probably both.

It's funny how the original single version of Sultans of Swing never got re-released. It sounded slightly rougher than this version, which is slightly rougher than the album version, which is the only studio version that one can generally hear.
